The Hungarian Grand Prix wrote:Larrauri: EuroBrun not suited to wet conditions and handling in dry proved troublesome. Tangled with Dalmas on Saturday morning then had a spin during qualifying thanks to brake balance problem, being bumped from the grid by his team mate in the dying minutes of the session. Did not qualify.

Modena: FIrst visit to Hungaroring, Spun three times in wet session. Suffered throttle problem so switched to spare. No rear brakes. Saturday qualifying was similarly fraught with radiator in race car failing after tow laps. Switched to spare but brake fluid leak led to spin and displaced nosecone. Went back to race car and set time in dying seconds of session, just before engine lapsed onto seven cylinders. Fought hard in early laps until rear tyres was shot. Misfiring badly by the finish.

Moreno actually had to guess what his set-up should be at Spa? That's a whole new meaning to the phrase "ambitious, but rubbish".

These are superb threads bigears. :)

I agree. Anyone who can make threads like these so quickly is impressive in my book. Maybe we should have a thread about the most impressive thread you've ever seen.

If Moreno and Tarquini had been paired in 1990 who knows how many qualifications could have happened

On Uncyclopedia, EuroBrun is known as EuroBun 8-)

In qualifying for the 1988 Brazilian Grand Prix at Nelson Piquet's house, the car's results in qualifying were classified as "got eaten" and "tasty".

It runs in the reject DNA, doesn't it? "I know, let's take this old chassis and rebuild it as our own"... Super Aguri's origins we knew about, and Forti's effective resurrection of Fondmetal, but I'd never heard of the 1988 EuroBrun being based on a three-year-old Alfa Romeo before.

And there's Roberto Moreno who nearly got a taste of the team two years earlier. Heh.

Supposedly AGS did the same thing in 1986 by using a Renault RE40 monocoque from 1983.

My personal opinion of using dated chassis from another team is that they reduce costs, they slow you down, and there is a lot of rejectfulness! Just what I like, being on this forum

Only until the end of the 1988 season. After that, Brun's sportscar team ran the Formula 1 cars as well.

Hmm... this post looks rather fishy.

Walter Brun should have just stayed in Group C, and maybe joined F1 later with manufacturer support, like Sauber did. In that case, we might still have his team around these days, running the circuits of the world.
