Alternate DTM - 2006 season
Posted: 21 Nov 2013, 14:12
I always liked Shadaza's Formula C series and I also like pi3141's F1 series. I also wanted to set right what I made horribly wrong with my first attempt at a DTM series here. So put the three things into a blender and BAM! You'll get this series. So welcome to my alternate DTM series!

Why the 2006 season? Well, I figured that this period is good for starting such a series. We had works teams, semi-works teams and privateers. While Opel left this series, we still had Audi and Mercedes. Granted, DTM became really boring from this period on real-life. But I'm sure that this series won't be boring. Whereas DTM struggled and declined, we will rise. That's where Formula C comes in: While we won't discuss things like technical regulations (yet), you can decide on other factors, like the venues the series will visit. How many races will there be on a calendar? After all, travelling costs money! You can also bring in suggestions on your own, which the teams will then discuss. As the series will progress (And I'll damnguarantee, it will!), the teams will get to decide on more complex matters. Like in real-life, I plan to bring in other manufacturers. I also plan to cooperate with other series like the SuperGT...or other series. It'll be up to you! Now, the rules:
- Works Teams have a yearly budget of 4.250.000 €, semi-works teams have a budget of 1.250.000 € and private teams have a budget of 750.000 €
- Works Teams get to sign drivers first. They can also sign more drivers than cars they actually run, thus enabling them to "park" their drivers at semi-works or private teams
- Only works teams are allowed to build and develop all new cars. From the second year on, they can sell their year-old cars to the semi-works teams, while the semi-works teams can sell their then two-year-old cars to private teams.
- Prize per cars (includes development):
2006-spec car: 500.000 €
2005-spec car: 250.000 €
2004-spec car: 125.000 €
- The works teams can distribute 100% of the development time to acceleration, cornering and reliability (e.g. 33-33-33, 50-20-30 and so on.)
- Works teams can develop their cars at three points during the season. They can do two private tests, while there will also be an official ITR test day, somewhere in the season. A maximum of 300.000 € can be invested in season development (Ideally: 100k on acceleration, 100k on cornering and 100k on reliability, but it's up to you, of course). Therefore, one shouldn't spend 300.000 € on one test.
- There will also be one private pre-season test (To test new drivers) and an official ITR pre-season test. But neither can be used for season development.
- Works teams also HAVE TO build at least four new cars. It's part of the contract between the ITR and the manufacturers![Mr. Green ](./images/smilies/icon_mrgreen.gif)
- Travelling will also be expensive. Not necessarily to the German rounds, but to rounds abroad. So the teams may have to spend up to 250.000 € for travelling (Hence the budgets of 4.25m and 1.25m).
- Points are awarded as in real-life 2006 (Analog to the pre-2010 F1 points system)
- Prize money is like this:
1. 200.000 €
2. 180.000 €
3. 160.000 €
4. 140.000 €
5. 120.000 €
6. 100.000 €
7. 80.000 €
8. 60.000 €
9. 40.000 €
10. 20.000 €
11. Everyone else that finishes a race: 10.000 €
- Race format is also like in real-life (1 race over the distance of roughly 160km)
- You can sign any driver you want, but I'll decide what's realistic and what's not. I doubt that Fernando Alonso or Kimi Raikkonen would leave F1 for DTM. I'll leave the rest to the RNG, though. So there may be some surprises coming...
- Private and Semi-Works Teams can also sign pay drivers, if they really need the money
- Note that there isn't an infinite amount of cars available. For each manufacturer, there will be four 2006-spec cars, four 2005-spec cars and four 2004-spec cars.
- Therefore, there are some cars left. I'll allow up to three private teams to enter this series. But they need to be real-life teams, connected in any form to the DTM or the manufacturers (e.g. a team from Formula Three or GT racing)
