I wasn't that excited for Singapore's night race. But it was a success. I wonder if Bahrain will be different...

The time zone difference (7 hours) will make it a terrible time to watch in Australia. What about a night race on the American continent so we don't have to get up between the hours of 12-6am???

Bahrain is only +3 GMT, or +2 BST..
in terms of time zones.. no, there's no point.. spectacle maybe different though, they did the WEC round there this weekend

I would have preferred that instead of trumpeting about putting on a night race (which makes no real change to the actual racing) they instead make amendments to the track to encourage better racing. To me it feels like Bahrain is just trying to "keep up with the Joneses" in the form of Singapore and Abu Dhabi in having an extra gimmick.
Plus, if F1 is intent on its "green credentials" then lighting up a desert isnt exactly the way to go about improving it...

I quite liked the fact that the Middle East had one night race (Abu Dhabi) and one day race in Bahrain. Now they'll look just the same. The good news is that the race might start later, which might make it easier to wake up to for watching.

Oh god......[ragerant]
REALLY?! REALLY?! They couldn't find ANYTHING ELSE to do there,so they're giving it a needless gimmick? One that ruins the spectacle of other night races, one that takes away the uniqueness of both Singapore and Abu Dhabi? And certainly, races in the past were boring, but at least they were exciting enough to watch, like that race where Vettel had a slowly failing gearbox in the last couple of laps, and the move Hamilton pulled on Rosberg when he was forced off the track! Furthermore, how is the world going to pay attention to it?! At its regular time,it is just about watchable in Australia before tucking into bed,and a good breakfast show for people in America. But at night,Australia and everyone is East Asia needs to stay up at some ungodly hour just to watch it! Finally,is it really necessary to keep Bahrain on the calendar? Sure, the oil gods there would be thrilled, but is the race held there just for them? And Bahrain has had recent troubles of not being the most peaceful of places,so why not move the race somewhere sensible. Somewhere with a little more scenery to enjoy. While Abu Dhabi has a similar track,it still has enough to keep the regular paying spectator entertained, like that Ferrari place, and the giant...purple...sea urchin hotel. In Bahrain, you have.......sand. And that's about it really. Nothing interesting to see. Nothing interesting to do. And a night race won't fix anything.

You cant have two unique things

but you're spot on that it smacks of desperation to get people on board with the idea of Bahrain and F1.

The Singapore GP always looked like they have been racing through a well-lit parking garage. Will the Bahrain GP look any different at night? They'd better not have a sandstorm then.

I don't mind having another night race. It's nice to have a night race that doesn't go on as long as Singapore! Also, I think I heard somewhere that they might go back to using the extended section of the track that was twisty and everyone hated. Am I making this up?

Maybe they're not going to light up the track at all? That would add excitement to the Grand Prix.

With the bulk of the fanbase based in Europe, FOM is going to continue basing its decisions over scheduling to coincide with that market rather than places like Australia.

Excellent news. Now, I don't need to wake-up 9am to watch the race.

<Conspiracy>
The 2014 engines won't be able to cope with the heat of a Bahrain day

Each car has a torch taped on top of the TV pod.

Yeah I know. Does anyone know what time it is on so I can pencil in what time to wake up next year?
