Ayrton Senna - The Boy From Brazil (BBC radio documentary)
I hope this isn't too much of a plug, but I am immensely proud and very excited to be able to announce that my very first production for national radio, the documentary The Boy From Brazil, which tells the story of Ayrton Senna's early career, will be going out on BBC Radio 5 Live on Sunday the 27th of April, at 8.30pm:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/mediacentre/pro...ve-ayrton.html
This is in fact a shorter edit of a 55-minute programme which will be transmitted on BBC Radio Norfolk on the May Bank Holiday, at midday. We wanted to commemorate the 20th anniversary of Senna's death by celebrating some of Norfolk's links to him, and 5 Live have kindly agreed to broadcast a version too.
I hope some of you are able to listen to the programme in one version or another, and find it interesting. There are interviews with his Formula Ford bosses Ralph Firman and Dennis Rushen, his F3 rival Martin Brundle, and Lotus mechanics Bob Dance and Chris Dinnage, plus a host of rare archive clips, including Murray Walker and Tiff Needell on 1983 F3 commentary duties!
It's narrated by BBC sport stalwart Rob Bonnet, who was working for the BBC in Norwich back in the 1980s when Senna was based in the area.
Both the 5 Live edit and the longer Norfolk version should be available live online internationally, and on-demand for seven days after broadcast.

Sounds exciting and I look forward to listening to it. Any chance of it being made available as a podcast by any chance? Not sure if my dad would get a chance to listen to it, but would certainly be very interested in it too, I'm sure.

Hello both,
Thanks for the interest. The Norfolk version won't have a podcast I'm afraid, just the standard seven-day streaming. It's possible but unlikely that the 5 Live version may do - I'll let you know when I find out.
Thanks again!

This should be an excellent listen, and then some.
What I intend to be doing that weekend will have to be done entirely on the Sunday...

For the benefit of any Portuguese-speaking members of the forum, I thought I'd post this.
My colleagues on the Brazilian desk of the BBC World Service have made a Portuguese-language version of the 5 Live edit of "The Boy From Brazil", which you can hear here:
http://cbn.globoradio.globo.com/series/ ... -SENNA.htm
I have no idea how long it'll be up for, as I don't speak Portuguese unfortunately!
There is also this tie-in article from BBC Brasil:

I'll be interested to hear the full programme now. Will I have to go to Norfolk on the Bank Holiday to do so?
