Jules Bianchi IIDotR - 2014 Monaco Grand Prix

based on the assumption that, at any moment in time, there is a non-zero probability that even the slowest, most inexperienced and least reliable of underdogs might win the race. That under every rock, there might be a gold nugget. This is the award for that first podium that we all celebrate, for the overtake no-one was expecting, for JEV's first win. This is the award, in short, for the driver or team that makes you go "Woah! Where did THAT come from?!".

Just remember: this is a feel-good award, that will focus on nothing but track action.
Usual rules: everyone gets two votes. First vote is worth 10 points, the second 6.

Post your results until 30th May

1. BIANCHI!!!
2. Kimi for that Loews move

1. Bianchi (obviously). First time in ages the improbability of IIDOTR has actually genuinely been infinite.
2. ... emm... I was going to say Magnussen until Button & Raikkonen got him. I was going to say Ricciardo if he passed Hamilton, but he didn't. Em... er............ I guess I'll still go with Magnussen for lack of a better candidate.

Who else? If ever there was a time when this award was a formality, this is it - even with a penalty, it should still be 9th place and one hell of a party at Marussia for Bianchi.

No contest, Bianchi for president!

He was extremely fast yesterday morning (like 2 seconds off the pace with the harder compound) and I was a bit gutted that he had trouble in qualifying. Terrific start today and great race after, his move on Kobayashi wasn't the cleanest though.

Let's not forget that Bianchi started from last place on the grid! AND he copped a five second penalty for lining up in the wrong gridslot. Pure IIDOTR, so much so the award should be renamed the Jules Bianchi IIDOTR award :D

So, if this hasn't been the absolute clearest IIDOTR ever, then I don't know what is.

However, there is the huge probability that a penalty will be applied, and if - AND ONLY IF - it was Bianchi himself who decided that he should take his original five-second penalty while the safety car was out, and IF that drops him so far down the timesheets that it hands a point to Marcus Ericsson of all people, then I will officially withdraw my nomination for Bianchi as IIDOTR and... well, leave it blank, because I can't think of anyone else who comes close.

I have come straight onto the forum, excitedly, as soon as the podium was done and dusted and the anthems stopped, and haven't had a chance to look at the timesheets and see how far behind Ericsson was. Maybe he was held up by Kimi crashing at Lowes, maybe he was so slow is getting out the way that it would cost him tenth even if Bianchi gets a 30-second penalty after the race, I just don't know yet.

But I'll bet Caterham will be shrieking at the stewards to get Bianchi disqualified completely so there's no doubt...

EDIT (or, sort of, this post didn't go up because more were posted) I have looked at Forix.

Bianchi is classified ninth. So it looks like he was penalised but it's not enough to hand the advantage on a silver plate walked up a red carpet to Caterham.

Is this the end of the saga? Or will Cyril Alotabull and Tony Fernandes appeal again? I just don't know.

But I want to smear chocolate sauce all over Jules Bianchi and STOP THAT! there are kids on this forum! - J&E.

1. Jules Bianchi: What do I need to say? He scored two points in a Marussia in spite of getting two penalties! YOU ARE A LEGEND!!!
2. Jean-Éric Vergne: He could have taken a top 5 result in a Toro Rosso if it hadn't been for the unsafe release and engine failure.

Honorable mention: Marcus Ericsson: Almost scored points in a Caterham!

It's been confirmed he will only have 5 seconds added to his time so has finished 9th.
