No Europeans Championship
No Europeans Championship
No Europeans Alternate Championship
Because I'm rather enjoying all these alternate Championships (as you can tell by the fact that I've ended up doing 42 seasons of them in the space of four days) I'm going to start one more, which I'll also update. And they will all get updated, because I have an "at least one BSMF season per day" resolution to keep to this year, and I intend to do exactly that.
As always, GROUND RULES:
- The points system will be whatever was used in the day, though I'll be excluding the fastest lap points because there simply won't be enough data.
- The Indy 500 will count, because there are so many non-European drivers in it.
- Drivers with dual nationality who choose to represent a European nation despite being eligible for a non-European nation might be eligible for half-points. I've not decided yet.

Re: No Europeans Championship
1950
Drivers Championship
1/ Juan Manuel Fangio - 24 points (3 wins)
2/ Prince Bira - 14 points (1 win)
3/ Johnnie Parsons - 8 points (1 win)
4/ Bill Holland - 6 points (Best: 2nd)
5/ Mauri Rose - 4 points (Best: 3rd)
6/ Cecil Green - 3 points (Best: 4th)
7/ Joie Chitwood - 1 point (Best: S-5th)
8/ Tony Bettenhausen - 1 point (Best: S-5th)
No surprises here - Fangio was the class of the field. Jose Froilan Gonzalez failed repeatedly to complete a race distance for Scuderia Achille Varzi, so never mind. The other Grand Prix drivers who failed to get on the scoreboard included Harry Schell and Alfredo Pian at the Monaco Grand Prix.

1951
Drivers Championship
1/ Juan Manuel Fangio - 32 (38) points (4 wins)
2/ Jose Froilan Gonzalez - 28 points (2 wins)
3/ Lee Wallard - 8 points (1 win)
4/ Harry Schell - 6 points (Best: 2nd)
5/ Mike Nazaruk - 6 points (Best: 2nd)
6/ Andy Linden - 3 points (Best: 4th)
7/ Jack McGrath - 2 points (Best: S-3rd)
8/ Manny Ayulo - 2 points (Best: S-3rd)
9/ Bobby Ball - 2 points (Best: 5th)
One thing to note here is that shared drives can only be shared with other non-European drivers, which I think is pretty logical given that in this alternate universe there are no European drivers, despite the astonishing number of European venues. Oh, and Fangio is dominant again, but is that really a surprise?

9/ Sam Hanks - 4 points (Best: 3rd)
10/ Duane Carter - 3 points (Best: 4th)
11/ Art Cross - 2 points (Best: 5th)
With Fangio missing the 1952 season to injury, the Championship was literally open to anyone (so long as they weren't European of course. Bianco, Bira, Cantoni, Gaze, Gonzalez, Landi and Schell all had a good go at it, but of all of them only Bira was able to complete two race distances. The fact that he managed to retain the lead for both was an added bonus.

I might have considered half-points for the shared drives where one is European and one is non-European?

I thought about that, but it just seemed a bit silly when the car would be driven for half the race by someone who in theory doesn't exist.
Also, what's your opinion on half-points for Hamilton, Prost, Sutil and Wehrlein?

1953
Drivers Championship
1/ Juan Manuel Fangio - 32 points (4 wins)
2/ Jose Froilan Gonzalez - 20 points (1 win)
3/ Onofre Marimon - 12 points (1 win)
4/ Harry Schell - 10 points (Best: 2nd)

14/ Fred Agabashian - 1.5 points (Best: S-4th)
15/ Paul Ruso - 1.5 points (Best: S-4th)
There were a lot more points scorers here than I was expecting, not least because Fangio appears to have brought half of Argentina into Formula One with him. Others who failed to score included Landi (Brazil), Menditiguy, Birger, Cruz (all Argentina) and Fitch (USA), as well as the rest of the Indy 500 field.

It's not that the other drivers "in theory don't exist" but rather that they are there but ineligible. After all, how would you explain retirements when a non-European collides with a European in this championship? Like in my anti-clockwise championship, I don't say that half of Suzuka doesn't exist, because it would still have an impact on what happens in each Japanese Grand Prix at the track, so half-points acknowledges reality.
As for Hamilton et al., I would go by their given nationalities. But depends on whether there will be shortages of drivers in some years. But if you include Lewis, you WILL have some years where he dominate. BUT BE CONSISTENT. Don't include them some years and not others.

1954
Drivers Championship
1/ Juan Manuel Fangio - 40 (60) points (6 wins)
2/ Jose Froilan Gonzalez - 20 points (1 win)
3/ Prince Bira - 19 points (Best: 2nd)
4/ Harry Schell - 12 points (Best: 2nd)

13/ Troy Ruttmann - 1.5 points (Best: S-4th)
14/ Duane Carter - 1.5 points (Best: S-4th)
In his most dominant season yet, Fangio effectively won by twice the distance his points tally suggests. The best five results rule robbed him of another 20 points atop the 40 that counted for his Championship tally; his raw total of 60 points was almost as many as the next four drivers below him added together. The only driver who failed to register any points (other than the Indy 500 strays) was Argentina's Clemar Bucci.

11/ Walt Falkner - 1 point (Best: S-5th)
12/ Bill Homeier - 1 points (Best: S-5th)
I know I said this last year, but this really was Fangio's most dominant season yet. The only race winner other than Fangio was Bill Sweikert in the Indy 500, a race not entered by Fangio. This time, he almost matched the points tally of the next six drivers in the Championship table. Gonzalez, Iglesias. Birger, Bucci (all Argentina), Brabham (Australia), Schell (United States) and Uria (Uruguay) joined most of the Indy 500 winners in failing to score.

10/ Dick Rathmann - 2 points (Best: 5th)
A remarkable season of attrition in which there was only one race (besides the Indy 500) saw more than one car still running at the finish. Also notable is that this is one of history's few Grands Prix with two winners: the Uruguayan pair of Uria and Gonzalez who triumphed in Buenos Aires. There were many drivers who failed to score points, due mostly to bits of car falling off.
Drivers Championship
1/ Juan Manuel Fangio - 24 points (3 wins)
2/ Hermano da Silva Ramos - 14 points (1 win)
3/ Harry Schell - 8 points (1 win)

Re: No Europeans Championship
Go Uruguay! This is very interesting (although Fangio is obviously dominant in the 50s), keep going!
In my opinion, you should just ignore those dual nationality drivers. They didn't grow up in those countries and have never identified as those nationalities. Prost is irrelevant anyway if you consider Armenia to be in Europe.

1/ Juan Manuel Fangio - 40 (48) points (6 wins)
2/ Harry Schell - 22 points (Best: 2nd)
3/ Masten Gregory - 20 points (Best: 2nd)
4/ Sam Hanks - 8 points (1 win)

9/ Alessandro de Tomaso - 3 points (Best: 4th)
10/ Paul Russo - 3 points (Best: 4th)
11/ Andy Linden - 2 points (Best: 5th)
Another incomparable season for Juan Manuel Fangio in which he was never beaten on-track. Behind him, the American pair of Schell and Gregory tended to occupy the lower steps of the podium, proving quite evenly matched and eventually being split by a mere two points. Non-scorers included Jose Froilan Gonzalez, Les Leston, Herbert Mackay-Fraser and about a million Indy 500 people.

2/ Jack Brabham - 35 points (1 win)

12/ Troy Ruttman - 3 points (Best: 4th)
13/ Tony Bettenhausen - 3 points (Best: 4th)
14/ Jim Rathmann - 2 points (Best: 5th)
Harry Schell enjoyed a superb season, coming remarkably close to scoring maximum points thanks to an impressive four Grand Prix victories. However, several younger drivers pushed him hard, particularly Jack Brabham, but also the likes of Bruce McLaren and Phil Hill on occasion, so it will be interesting to see how they all do in the upcoming post-Fangio era. Cruelly, Moroccan Robert La Caze was denied Africa's first F1 points, finishing sixth behind Bruce McLaren at Ain-Diab. Fangio was still unbeatable, but only entered two Grands Prix.
Constructors Championship
1/ BRM - 44 points (4 wins)
2/ Cooper-Climax - 40 (43) points (2 wins)
3/ Maserati - 28 points (2 wins)
4/ Ferrari - 22 points (2 wins)
Wow, it's weird to see European flags in this thread. Is anyone actually interested in how this affects the Constructors Championship, or should I just focus on the drivers?

I suggest you stick to non-european constructors as well. though some of the years it will have blank results, at least we got to see teams like LDS breaking free from obscurity.
I don't know what i want and i want it now!

12/ Tony Bettenhausen - 3 points (Best: 4th)
13/ Fritz d'Orey - 2 points (Best: 5th)
14/ Paul Goldsmith - 2 points (Best: 5th)
Jack Brabham became the new World Champion by quite some distance thanks to his Cooper-Climax being this year's best car. His closest challengers were Phil Hill, who out-performed the expected capability of his front-engined Ferrari, and Cooper team-mate Bruce McLaren. Remarkably, there was only one Argentine driver this season: Alejandro de Tomaso, who crashed his OSCA-powered Cooper in Sebring.
Constructors Championship
1/ Cooper-Climax - 40 (52) points (5 wins)
2/ Ferrari - 28 (32) points (2 wins)
3/ BRM - 18 points (Best: 3rd)
4/ Aston Martin - 6 points (Best: 4th)
5/ Porsche - 4 points (Best: 3rd)
6/ Maserati - 2 points (Best: 5th)
Pretty much as you would likely expect: the best team ultimately won the Championship. Sad decline for Maserati and BRM though.

And there we have it: thanks to the vagaries of dropped results, Jack Brabham is crowned World Champion despite scoring fewer points than his team-mate Bruce McLaren. I very much wanted to over-rule the dropped points, but I'm trying to stick with authentic points systems for a change. Also, check out all those Americans!

A relatively tight season ended up being topped by Phil Hill and Ferrari so comfortably that they didn't even have to attend the season-ending United States Grand Prix (which must nonetheless have been a shame for the World Champion elect. The Cooper-Climax looked like a shadow of the car it used to be, although in the hands of Bruce McLaren it was at least a regular on the podium.

Again, there was one clearly dominant car to go with several less impressive ones. All the same, congratulations to Ferrari for an exemplary season with their American duo.

Bruce McLaren enjoyed a season for the ages, and could have been entitled to over fifty points, but for the dropped-scores rule that limits each driver (in this case, only Maggs and McLaren) to no more than 45. Given that McLaren notched up as many of 42 of those 45 goes to show how well he was driving.

After four rounds, this looked set to be one of the most open seasons in history - the four different race winners (Ginther, McLaren, Gurney and Maggs) were split by just three points at the top of the table. However, it was at this point in the season that Ginther began to really stretch his legs and to pull out an unassailable lead at the top of the Championship, leaving the others to battle closely over second place, a battle eventually won by Dan Gurney on countback (he won two races to Jack Brabham's one).

Although BRM had the dominant car, they only had one at most races, being driven by World Champion Richie Ginther. Brabham (Brabham and Gurney) and Cooper (McLaren and Maggs) each had two regular drivers, who between them were still not able to overhaul Ginther's BRM tally. Despite an eventual winning margin of only seven points, this shows just how dominant the BRM really was this year.

Re: No Europeans Championship
1964
Drivers Championship
1/ Richie Ginther - 43 (57) points (3 wins)
2/ Bruce McLaren - 31 points (2 wins)
3/ Jack Brabham - 29 points (1 win)
4/ Dan Gurney - 29 points (2 wins)
5/ Phil Hill - 20 points (Best: 2nd)
6/ Tony Maggs - 15 points (1 win)
7/ Chris Amon - 13 points (1 win)
8/ Walt Hansgen - 6 points (Best: 2nd)
9/ Pedro Rodriguez - 6 points (Best: 2nd)
10/ Peter Revson - 3 points (Best: 4th)
11/ Ronnie Bucknum - 1 point (Best: 6th)
12/ Moises Solana - 1 point (Best: 6th)
That this season took until the seventh round of the season at Zeltweg Airfield for Richie Ginther to become the season's first multiple winner should tell you all you need to know about the even spread of the field in this most exciting of Championship years. Eventually, though, Richie Ginther won his second World Title in familiar fashion, by finishing every race of the season, almost uniformly on the podium. Even if he wasn't the fastest driver, it is hard to argue that he was anything other than faultless this season.
Constructors Championship
1/ BRM - 46 (60) points (4 wins)
2/ Brabham-Climax - 41 (45) points (3 wins)
3/ Cooper-Climax - 38 (43) points (2 wins)
4/ Lotus-BRM - 16 points (1 win)
5/ Lotus-Climax - 7 points (Best: 2nd)
6/ Ferrari - 6 points (Best: 2nd)
7/ Honda - 1 point (Best: 6th)
The hyper-reliable BRM car, this time piloted regularly by both Ginther and Maggs, made it back-to-back Constructors Championships despite spirited challenges from the Brabham and Cooper teams. It was also encouraging to see Ferrari making baby steps back into Formula One, as they are one of the most recognisable marques in motorsport.

1965
Drivers Championship
1/ Dan Gurney - 51 (54) points (5 wins)
2/ Bruce McLaren - 33 points - (3 win)
3/ Richie Ginther - 24 points (1 win)
4/ Jack Brabham - 24 points (Best: 2nd)
5/ Denny Hulme - 21 points (1 win)
6/ Frank Gardner - 10 points (Best: 2nd)
7/ Paul Hawkins - 8 points (Best: 2nd)
8/ Masten Gregory - 7 points (Best: 3rd)
9/ Pedro Rodriguez - 7 points (Best: 3rd)
10/ Ronnie Bucknum - 4 points (Best: 3rd)
11/ Peter de Klerk - 3 points (Best: 4th)
12/ Tony Maggs - 2 points (Best: 5th)
13/ Bob Bondurant (2) - 2 points (Best: 5th)
14/ Moises Solana (1) - 1 point (Best: 6th)
After the first three victorious rounds of the season, the Drivers Championship was there for Bruce McLaren to win... but he did not. That this was the case is owed mostly to the highly skillful drive put in by the highly disciplined and incredibly successful Dan Gurney, who was unstoppable from rounds four through to nine.
Constructors Championship
1/ Brabham-Climax - 54 (78) points (6 wins)
2/ Cooper-Climax - 37 points (3 wins)
3/ Honda - 24 points (1 win)
4/ Brabham-BRM - 9 points (Best: 2nd)
5/ BRM - 7 points (Best: 3rd)
6/ Ferrari - 7 points (Best: 3rd)
7/ Lotus-Climax - 6 points (Best: 3rd)
8/ Brabham-Ford - 4 points (Best: 3rd)
9/ Alfa Romeo - 3 points (Best: 4th)
10/ Lotus-BRM - 2 points (Best: 5th)
The Constructors really followed the Drivers, with Brabham-Climax coming from behind and strongly overtaking the early-season pace-setters, Cooper-Climax. So fast were the Brabhams that they finished the season with maximum points.

Drivers Championship
1/ Jack Brabham - 45 (54) points (6 wins)
2/ Denny Hulme - 27 points - (1 win)

7/ Chris Amon - 3 points (Best: 4th)
8/ Ronnie Bucknum - 2 points (Best: 5th)
There's not a huge amount to write about this Championship really - it was dominated by Brabham in the Brabham, who won all six of the races he finished. Pedro Rodriguez, Moises Solana and Phil Hill all entered Grands Prix but failed to score.
Constructors Championship
1/ Brabham-Repco - 45 (63) points (7 wins)
2/ BRM - 18 points (1 win)
3/ Eagle-Climax - 17 points (Best: 2nd)
4/ McLaren-Ford - 9 points (1 win)
5/ Cooper-Maserati - 9 points (Best: 2nd)
6/ Honda - 4 points (Best: 3rd)
7/ McLaren-Serenissima - 4 points (Best: 3rd)
Again, a Championship dominated by Brabham in the Brabham, so no surprises in these standings. One interesting footnote is that there were more unique constructors this year (13) than drivers (11), with Brabham-BRM, Brabham-Climax, Eagle-Weslake, Lotus-BRM, Lotus-Climax and Lotus-Ford all failing to score.
