IIDOTR - Saudi Arabia 2021 (POLL)

1. Esteban Ocon. One corner away from a well deserved podium, by far the cleanest of the top four drivers today.
2. Antonio Giovinazzi. Goddamnit, where has this Antonio been all season? That's the sort of performance Alfa were crying out for and he finally delivered.

1) Esteban Ocon: Got cruelly denied a podium which he would have deserved, but a strong performance from him today regardless.
2) Antonio Giovinazzi: A better drive than we've seen from him recently. I still suspect he's a substantially superior driver than his replacement next year.

1. Esteban Ocon. Almost a podium, kept cool much of the race.
2. Lewis Hamilton's front wing. Hit Ocon and Verstappen and didn't break down badly enough to warrant pit stop.

1. Esteban Ocon - clever at the restart and made the most of it and would've almost gotten away with it.
2. Max Verstappen - clearly willing to do anything it takes to win this title despite having to fight an opponent with a superior car. I respect that.

Ocon: Deserved at least a podium for another race where he took opportunities
Giovanazzi: If only this had happened when he qualified well at Zandvoort and Monza. He’d still have a job by now

Ocon and Giovanazzi the two stand outs for me.

Esteban Ocon: So close to the podium... Even after a few impressive races for Alpine, I didn't expect him to be best of the rest.
Honorable mention to the race itself, absolute insanity but I definitely can't say it was boring to watch.

Esteban Ocon, for keeping his nose mostly clean in a race where lots of people didn't.

Me, for choosing to play Freespace 2 instead of watching whatever this turned out to be.

(1) Standing by my "Hamilton and Vettel for their human rights statements and actions - this is a slam dunk already" from predicament predictions. The Sky commentators were clearly very uncomfortable about being there.
(2) Race Control - controversial I am sure but Masi allowing Mercedes and Red Bull to negotiate penalties was a brilliant interpretation of "just let them race". And he threw red flags, SCs and VSCs when they were needed.
HM The "Thanks mate, we owe you one, wink, wink" moment between Wolff and Ocon live on air after the race.

1. TV direction - That slow motion shot of Wolff was legendary
2. Giovinazzi - Everyone at Alfa must be increasingly irritated with the points at Spa

I'm going to give it to Channel 4 - or, rather whoever is in charge of deciding what adverts Channel 4 show in their breaks. During qualifying we had an advert for Johnnie Walker whisky. And better still, during the race, there was an advert for Jura whisky - i.e. whisky which I would actually want to drink (even if it is a bit weird). Epic trolling, and whoever was responsible has earned a very large bacon sandwich.

1. Estaban Ocon. Deserved P3 but drove a majestic race. Getting some good performances at the end of the season.
2. Antonio Giovinazzi. Dont get me wrong deserves to lose his seat overall but got his probable last points in f1
