1966: The Return to Power
Note: All races will be simulated using the Grand Prix 2 game.
-
Compared to the 1950s and early 1960s, this is a much better time to be a new team in Formula One: the 1965 rule that teams may only enter two cars into each Formula One event was seen by many as a direct response to the grids of the "Tubular Era" that would be dominated by the cars of just one or two constructors. How Formula One will progress in this era of change is anyone's guess, but most commentators agree that this will be a fascinating time for the sport.

Rules
Teams and Budgets
- All teams have a budget to spend on drivers, employees, chassis, engines, tyres, travel and entry fees.
- If this budget falls below £0 at any point, then the team will be declared bankrupt.
- If the team in question is canon-significant at a later point in the game, then their manager will be fired and an appropriate course of action for the team will be decided on a case by case basis.
- At any time, the game manager reserves the right to adjust or remove teams from the game for reasons pertaining to the overall continuity of Alternate Formula One.
- The game manager reserves the right to decline an entry for reasons pertaining to the overall continuity of Alternate Formula One.
Drivers
- Drivers are paid up front for their services; pay drivers similarly pay their contributions up front.
- If a paid driver is fired, they keep any salary contributions already paid.
- If a paying driver is fired, they will have their contributions returned on a pro-rata basis according to the amount of races left in the season.
- If a paying driver takes a drive that pays a salary, they will only ever accept a paying drive from that point onwards.
- Unless already specified, a pay driver's available budget will be decided by RNG.
- If a team misses its deadline to submit driver bids, the game manager reserves the right to place a driver of their choosing with the team.
DEC Drivers
- Fictional drivers will be permitted to enter the game only once Leonhard von Gottorp has made his Formula One debut.
- All fictional drivers belong to a "DEC holder", and that DEC holde" will be responsible for accepting or declining offers rather than RNG.
- In the case of an inactive DEC holder, the fictional driver will be treated like a real-life driver unless it narratively important for reasons pertaining to the overall continuity of Alternate Formula One.
Employees
- Employees are hired in the same manner as drivers.
- An employee's perks are applied to the chassis after initial RNGs unless otherwise stated.
- An designer's perk remains in effect, even if the employee is no longer employed by the team in question
- The game manager reserves the right to decline a bid on an employee for reasons pertaining to the overall continuity of Alternate Formula One.
Chassis
- A team may choose to buy or build a new chassis at any point in the season.
- Any new chassis is subject to design and build costs. The design cost is a one-time payment, and the build cost will be paid each time a new chassis is constructed.
- At any time, cars can be bought from or sold to the Car Market. Chassis ageing is reflected in the prices offered by the Car Market: at all times, the Car Market buys chassis for 120% of the build price at its effective tier, and at all times the Car Market will sell chassis at 150% of the build price at its effective tier.
- A team selling to the Car Market will receive 50% of the purchase price up front, and 50% on resale.
- This is the only way in which chassis can be sold from team to team.
- A team may choose to sell a chassis to a private collector for 10% of its original build price (not including design costs), regardless of its age.
Engines
- All teams must have an engine supply in order to enter races.
- All available engines are listed on the "Price List" tab.
- Engine supplies are not able to be traded from team to team.
- Teams listed as having a "Works" relationship must sign that engine supply for the 1966 season.
- The game manager reserves the right to decline an engine supply for reasons pertaining to the overall continuity of Alternate Formula One.
Tyres
- All teams must have a tyre supply in order to enter races.
- All available tyres are listed on the "Price List" tab.
- Tyre supplies are not able to be traded from team to team.
Travel Costs
- Travel costs are listed on the "Price List" tab.
- If a team cannot afford to travel to an event that they are entered for, they will simply not make the journey but will still be charged an entry fee.
- All travel costs listed are for the entire team, regardless of the size of that team.
Entry Fees
- All Entry Fees are listed on the "Fees and Prizes" tab.
- Some races have additional conditions and criteria for entry; in this circumstance, an Entry Fee is considered to be the cost to be considered for the event, and will not be refunded if entry is denied.
- If the team in question cannot afford an Entry Fee that they try to submit, their entry will simply be disregarded and they will not be charged into bankruptcy.
- At this point in time, there are no entry costs for the World Championship of Drivers, International Cup for Manufacturers or the Open Trophy for Entrants.
- The game manager reserves the right to decline entries to races at their own discretion. Such declined entries will not be charged.
Points System
- The points system is 9 points for 1st place, 6 for 2nd, 4 for 3rd, 3 for 4th, 2 for 5th and 1 point for 6th place.
- Only the best seven results by a driver, manufacturer or entrant will count towards their Championship totals.
- Only the leading car for a manufacturer or entrant will count towards their Championship totals.
Prize Money
- Details on prize prize money distribution are listed on the "Fees and Prizes" tab.
