Infinite Improbability Drive of the Race - Mexico 2024
1. Kevin Magnussen. Easily best of the rest today, only a few seconds off Verstappen in a much inferior car.
2. Carlos Sainz Jr. Absolutely had this weekend on lock and key. Sad that this might be his last ever F1 win unless Williams suddenly turn up with the successor to the FW14B next year

Esteban Gutierrez, two time Reject of the Year, who apparently has nabbed some job at Mercedes. On countless shots of the Merc garage did we see our hero sitting in front of a computer next to other people sitting in front of computers, while he talked into his headset at somebody. If only we could hear what the great man was saying...

Just one today: Carlos Sainz
Pretty much in his own league this race, even though the McLaren seems to preserve the hard tires better. He wasn't even troubled much by Verstappen, who had just finished reading 'How to Accept Defeat with Grace', by Donald Trump.

K-Mag: He’s not going quietly into the night is he? Only 4 seconds off Verstappen at the flag and kept Piastri behind him on better tires. Haas as a whole were pretty good too on a track where they are usually dismal at and they’ve taken a huge step towards 6th overall today.
Sainz: It’s an absolute crime that this man is dropping down to the lower midfield next year (No disrespect to Williams who I actually think have improved in recent races) while others keep their seats at a top team (cough, Perez, cough). Like Singapore last year he was THE man to beat all weekend and from looking behind him at the Merc drivers, he now has eyes on Piastri for 4th and a best ever championship finish.

(1) K-Mag - great way to bow out (probably)
(2) The stewards who appear to have found some huevos.

Kevin Magnussen did an amazing job, best of the rest and even beat Piastri.

Whilst I expect that Sainz will get a number of nominations, it has to be said that Ferrari have been strong in the past few races and this circuit has been one of their stronger circuits in recent years - Leclerc did lead the race last year and had a reasonable shot at victory before the safety car, with Sainz also being quite competitive in 2023 as well.
With that said, I am therefore a bit more inclined to look elsewhere:
To a lesser extent, Hulkenberg and Gasly are two others whom I'd say also deserve a shot - the former also had a pretty solid race, whilst I think many would have expected Gasly to slide out of the top 10 as the race went on.

Magnussen's drive was indeed impressive, with Haas really starting to open up a gap between themselves and RB - not only did Magnussen end up surprisingly closer to Verstappen, once the penalty was taken into account, but he also managed to hold off Piastri as well.

K-Mag gets it for me too - was racing 2 front runners on merit.

Agree with both
It's just unbelievable...that Formula 1 could be such a ridiculous melange of idiots.

1) Stewards - finally found their teeth and dished out proper punishment to bad driving.
2) Magnussen - Held on to an awesome position through pure pace. Haas may yet bother Aston Martin in constructors title

1. Kevin Magnussen - As said, that was a really good, solid drive, reminds me of why I used to support him and used to think he was a solid driver worthy of an F1 seat.
Don't really think anyone else is hugely worthy of a mention here to be frank - Sainz drove impeccably, but not really beyond the capabilities of the car, I would be more willing to say Leclerc underperformed the Ferrari rather than him overperforming it. Everybody else performed more or less up to around how I'd have expected them to.

I'm surprised nobody has nominated Sonny Hayes for taking APXGP's first win yet...!!!
