Formula One Elderly World Drivers Championship
Formula One Elderly World Drivers Championship
I had this idea after seeing the JWDC, and this is basically the opposite: a championship for drivers older than 35.
Similar criteria as in JDWC:
1. A driver may enter this championship if he is aged 35 or over during a season. Example: Michael Schumacher was born in 1969, so he is eglible for this championship from 2004 onwards. The logic used is very simple. Add 35 to the year the driver was born.
2. A driver can't have won the F1 World Driver's Championship (WDC). If a driver had won the JDWC he is still eglible for this championship. Ex. Michael Schumacher would age-wise be eligible for the 2004 season, but because he has already won the WDC he can't compete in the EWDC anymore.
The point system will follow the main championship and what was used that year.

Hey! I was going to do that one
Seriously though, don't you think the age limit is a bit high? I would have put it at around 31-32.

Re: Formula One Elderly World Drivers Championship
IMO this (and juniors) could work best by counting average age of the drivers participating that season and then those who are 10% over would participate. But of course it takes a lot of work.
In the 1950s the limit would probably be somewhere in 40s.

Re: Formula One Elderly World Drivers Championship
Surely if Graham Hill, Jack Brabham and John Surtees are eligible for 1969 then Michael Schumacher is for 2011 as they are all former champions?
The champions rule that applies in JWDC is that a driver is eligible up to including their last real championship, so maybe for EWDC make them only eligible for their last championship onwards?

For the juniors I thought really hard about the age limit and decided 27 was quite optimal for most seasons from 1959 onwards and decided just to skip the 50's since most of the results would have been ridiculous.
For this championship it is alot harder to set an age barrier since most non-world championship drivers won't "last" until post-30 while they may have appeared in the Juniors. The Fisichella's, Trulli's. Patrese's and Barrichello's are a rare bunch.
Maybe try to take 6-7 most oldest persons from the grid (who drove over 85% of that seasons GPs) and present them at the start of each season.

Ummm... I think I got confused with this starting in 1969 and JWDC starting in 1959

I think that I´ll do that later, when the drivers ages starts to drop.
Also edited the 1969 season, so it should be correct now.
