Indian GP LIVE video podcast?

Post by Kuwashima »

Dear all,

With the Championships done and dusted and there being little to no interest left in the season except the BATTLE FOR 6th IN THE CONSTRUCTORS' CHAMPIONSHIP, Enoch and I are seriously considering taking the plunge into new oceans of incompetence by briefly entertaining the thought of wondering if we should think about possibly mulling over recording:

A LIVE video podcast call of the inaugural INDIAN GRAND PRIX, lovingly dedicated to the Indian hackers who took down our website a few years ago.

The big question is ... SHOULD WE BOTHER? (Smaller question but nonetheless important - what's with all the shouting in ALL CAPS?)

We would be starting our coverage 15 mins before lights out, at 8:15pm Sunday 30th October, Sydney time, which is:

2:45pm in New Delhi
9:15am GMT
5:15am in Aquashicola, PA and other parts of eastern US
2:15am in Lake Oswego, OR and and other parts of western US
2:15am in Kamloops, BC, Canada
8:15pm in Vanuatu

Plan is to stream via Ustream. Exactly logistics as to race footage visible and background commentary from Martin B and DC pending.

So, would anyone be interested??

Cheers,
Jamie and Enoch

I'd definitely be interested, if I were to get up on time.

Might I suggest Freedocast instead of uStream.

The latter's popularity combined with it's lack of servers causes the streams to buffer like crazy with no fault of the users. Never had that problem with Freedocast before.

Personally, I'd rather listen to Martin and David when I watch the race live, but I'd still love to download and listen to your race commentary as a podcast at a later date!

And if you want to be super-duper-modern-interactive with it, use twitter to read out live in-race comments from us forumites* :?:

I'd be interested in watching, although I fear if the race was too visible, you might get pulled by FOM.

To listen again at a later date as a podcast? Definitely! But I rarely use streaming facilities online...

This sounds excellent, I am completely in favour of this idea.

I have REGISTERED to say YES, please do it! (apologies for all CAPs too ;) )

I've missed your usual podcast so this would more than make up for it. If the actual broadcasting of the race is a problem, maybe just have sound? But then there might be sync issues......still an excellent idea.

provided the race is live on one's TV Channel of choice, an audio-only podcast would work. I'd just turn down the volume on my TV and turn up the volume on my computer.

So yeah, this would be pretty awesome.

I agree with Kostas as well, perhaps twitter, or even a live chat room to type in so that we don't crash the server for the forum.
It's just unbelievable...that Formula 1 could be such a ridiculous melange of idiots.

Oh, and you must use your French accents as much as possible (i.e. "penchant for contretemps", RRRRRMMMMNNNN, etc.)

Also, why not Justin TV? I don't have an account on ustream, and may not be bothered to make one.

Nah, of course i'll make one! Just for you guys, but you'll owe me a papaya.

Being a 5am start-time for me, I'll be tape-delaying it for myself (i.e. VCR), but would look forward to viewing the vid podcast at a later time.

You guys should parody Gazzetta. Not being from the UK you probably don't know what that is.

See here.

I'll see if I can watch it. If not, I'd definitely watch/listen to a recorded podcast.

Brilliant idea - unfortunately I won't be able to watch the race in live action (it's well in church time), otherwise I'd definitely listen to you.

I'd be interested but the Internet connection I "enjoy" right now would make buffering a pain in the HWNSNBM buttocks :(

I'd love to see this, but sadly my laptop died on me during the summer break, which means I can't go on the forums during the race.

If it happens I will be listening, and I'm going to tell all my friends!

(They might not care, most of them don't understand my F1 interest, let alone my F1 Rejects interest!)

I remain interested in the battle for 11th in the Constructors' Championship, although fighting for that when the last cash paying place is 10th. HRT and Marussia-Virgin remain close in their fight, i mean they are tied for crying out loud!
