Crikey MRT are bouncing back aren't they?! Otherwise it's the usual protagonists filling the top 15. Not sure what's happened to Foxdale, and Acuri are looking good to clear pre-quali. The rest of the new teams I think will struggle, though Shonan should do well at a few races.

Sammy Jones wrote:Both myself and Daniel are delighted with our positions after the first test, I feel the cars have good potential and will run well from the start without any future upgrades that we might bring. I think at this stage that we're primarily looking at bringing speed upgrades to the CJR-103, but this could change. We're going to evaluate the car's performance over the first three races before making any rash decisions on where we'll focus our resources. Ultimately though I feel that this year, just like last, will be influenced heavily by reliability, and we at Castrol Jones Racing are confident that the vast majority of our unreliability issues last year have been resolved with the CJR-103. We'll now go over our data, regroup, and look forward to the next testing session.

OK then, time to spend some credits:

For HRT, I'd like to spend 170 credits on power and 200 on reliability.
For GRM, it'll be 65 on reliability, and 30 for power.

For the drivers:

Rhys Davies - 100 on qualifying performance, 70 for race performance
Ashley Watkinson - 100 on race
Frank Zimmer - 70 on race
Poppy Whitechapel - 60 on qualifying, 60 on race

Daniel Melrose wrote:Crikey! I knew the dynamo, windtunnel and private testing results at the Nurburgring were all encouraging but I didn't know the car was going to be THAT good. All I have to say to Nathanael and Phillippe is good luck with the season and to make the most of the opportunity as Motorsport is a cyclical sport and they may never get an opportunity like that ever again.

Onto the Castrol Jones car and it's a simply great car to drive. It may not be on the ultimate pace yet but it's a predictable and easy car to drive which means it is easy to extract the maximum out of the car for both one lap and a race distance.

Sensationalist rumour time:

Pitpass wrote:Krautmeir to return to F1RWRS?

While many drivers were either unable or unwilling to move teams for 2014, all gloves are off when it comes to the 2015 driver's market. There, many seats will open up as contracts expire and go up for renewal, including both MRT seats, Melrose's seat at Jones Racing, both HRT drives and Pratchett's drive at ARC. Rumours from Germany states that former F1RWRS winner for MRT, Jeroen Krautmeir, is looking to return to the F1RWRS. While the German was more than happy to retire at the end of the 2012 season, he has spent a lot of time in recent weeks in Austria training with a certain Daniel Melrose as he may be looking to return to competitive racing. While he may not get a drive straight away for 2015, it is rumoured that he may be in line to replace Pratchett at ARC.

Autosport wrote:Jerez test day: Trueba unveils a new livery
During the first test of the 2014 F1RWRS season, the Italian team Trueba unveiled on the track its completely new designed livery: many the stickers on the bodywork of each car, including those of sponsors SOKOL, ITS, Kohler, IGOL, Cocif , Fila and Polti, in addition to technical partnerships with Agip, Ford and Beta Tools. No news regarding engine and chassis, both of the same package of last year, but revised and strengthened by the team of engineers led by Valter Zanetta.

Image

At the end of the day, Trueba's drivers, the Italians Fredo Mestolio and Giovanni Roda, were respectively 20th and 21st and over 4 seconds from the leader Melrose, who set a clamorous 1.25.953.

Giovanni Roda wrote:Well, today's tests went pretty well for me. The fact that we are the second best placed team among those will be tied in pre-qualyfing roulette gives us a lot of confidence to start the season at the best. In front of the pack MRT seems to be faraway and out of our range, but we are happy now to show that the car is at least reliable, which is the real important thing in the first sessions. The quickness can be improved always later on. Cannot it, Fredo?

Fredo Mestolio wrote:Yeah. Honestly, I expected to drive a car much more tricky than what I was told recently. I found myself at ease with the car although we had some hydraulics problem which forced me to sit out and see the other cars going testing. Certainly, however, I do not regret last year CR…

Here it is the livery (http://www.megaupload.com/?d=0SZPR7VM), I hope not to have broken the template though.

If we assume retirement rates are close to the way they were last season, then I'd say all drivers in the top 10 might have a remote chance at mounting a title challenge. A Mori vs. Lon title battle would be something...

CHRIS DAGNALL: "I can´t wait"

DGNgineering General Director Chris Dagnall is really eager for the 2014 season to start. "I can´t wait to arrive in Adelaide. Even though we have more testing ahead. I´m sure the car will be up to standard and that, at the end of the day, MRT won´t be so far ahead." Speaking about the Jerez test Dagnall simply said "It was good for getting to know the new chassis, I think we´ll do better in technical tracks than the fast venues", about Nathan Scott result he added: "We simply can´t expect both drivers being on top all the time. I´m totally sure that Nathan will get good results. Nathan is a long-term bet and an excellent guy".

The correct English name for that sea is North Sea
and the North Sea Trophy was a race being held in the Belgian town of Koksijde (the book of 30 years Zolder (from 1993) told me that, because the North Sea Trophy moved to Zolder one day) so it is a historical event!

although i can't find any other sources confirming this race existed...

I'm all for the North Sea Trophy too.

It would be good if we could start getting a little motley collection of differently named trophies for different events, we already have the Dan Wheldon Memorial Trophy, we could have this too, and perhaps add to them over the next season or so. Did we ever have one as a tribute to Dave McFaste? That would be quite appropriate I think. It's just a little something else that drivers who win those races can show off, plus it gives a bit more prestige to the events, and adds more background to the whole championship. :)

I agree with all this trophy thing... Can somebody create a couple of "virtual" trophies?

I would include these (feel free to rename a couple of these):

F1RWRS Trophy: To the Champion.
F1RWRS Team Trophy: To the winning constructor.
F1RWRS Senna Trophy: To the drive achieving most Pole Positions during a season.
The North Sea Trophy: To the winner of the North Sea GP
The Dave McFaste Trophy: To the winner of the Chinese GP
F1RWRS ROTY award.
F1RWRS ROTR award (A smaller award)
F1RWRS Rob Smedley award: To the most "talkative" driver/team owner at this topic (Kay Lon would be the 2013 winner for sure)

Sadly I lack the photoshop skills, so I can only make proposals:

F1RWRS Trophy: A round cup looking like a globus with the Life L190 put on top of it.

North Sea Trophy: Combine these two, I think it's obvious what should go where

Dave McFaste Trophy: Two crossed flags (one Scottish one and one with a possible FAT Turbo Logo) on a dais.
