Correction: YOU would have an excuse when you inevitably fail to qualify

Absolutely

Mr.Alexander spoke today about the teams pre-season tests, with mixed emotions. "We know we're going to be fighting at the back, but we seem to be ahead of two or three teams, so once the pre-qualifying gets sorted out, we have a decent chance of making a race or two. We also have a bit of money left to improve the car, whilst those around us do not, so the team is confident." Talk also begins about added sponsorship from the junior team. "Both Torbani and Neubert are regarded as pay-drivers, so if we promote one of them to a race seat, it'll give us extra credits to improve the car even more. I'm confident we can qualify on a regular basis by the end of the year."

Aerond : Any reason why Sunshine and specifically Katayama would happen to lose so much performance between testing and now as well as in Day 1 and Day 2 sessions...
I mean those conspiracy theorists over there are standing up as they notice that DGNgineering and MRT just happen to be in the top part of qualifying with Nathan Scott and Nathanael Spencer being fast in the wet and in the humid conditions and both have input from Chris Dagnall. With most other people being fast in Day 1 happen to have fallen so far down the list...

The car just didn't seem to work properly today, thankfully I am still as good as ever and took P17 against all odds with a car that was nowhere near good enough for such a position - that way we have a remote chance at making the points, if cars further up front fail to finish the race.

For this season I´ve slightly changed the consistency rates approach. Now it depends more in a random number which your drivers will keep all season (within a reasonable range) + the consistency rate of your chassis, this can result in some teams being significantly more inconsistent than others, and other drivers being more consistent than others within the same team, which explains what happened to Katayama.
That also explains Melrose being 1.3 secs faster than Jones, and then in the next race it could be the other way.

Mr.Alexander today spoke about both his cars failing to pre-qualify for the first race of the year, but was adamant this wasn't a true reflection on the cars pace. "The wet weather didn't really help. Both drivers complained about understeer and drag, coupled with the difficult conditions, I'm pleased they managed to end the session mid-table. I'm annoyed too, that pre-qualifying saw arguably one of the best teams competing, making our job even harder." Matthias Valsattis spoke too about the wet conditions, "I enjoyed them! It was good fun to drive in the wet, although a few set-up problems prevented me from pushing as hard as I'd have liked."

Meh, I think it isn't whining, it's rather realistic. Since I have no credits after spending everything on chassis reliability, I can't even expect improvement.
Phoenix McAllister wrote:I can't really say how competitive we are, since this was a wet session, but being on the starting grid of a race again after so much time is fantastic, a great tribute to all the hard work my guys and the boffins at Audi have done, even if The Stig has surprisingly not made the cut. But, how come is Sammy Jones behind me? Seriously, I wasn't expecting to outqualify him.

In an unusually forward press conference, Mr.Alexander spoke about other teams battling it out in pre-qualifying, picking up on the poor performances of both Shonan and Tropico teams. "Whilst Shonan had one driver setting times, the other was near the back. And as for Tropico, I don't see them ever making the grid this year. As far as I'm aware, thyre in debt and can't even improve the car! All this makes our job a little bit easier, concentrating only on those above us."
sorry lads, had to induce a bit of rivalry. Can't have the top teams arguing on their own

Hang on, is Castrol Jones Racing a top team?
Sammy Jones wrote:Ooh McAllister you do bring it upon yourself don't you! 4th last year, 2nd the year before, a host of wins and podiums in that time, yeah I'd say Castrol Jones Racing is one of the more successful teams on the grid at the very least! On the other hand, you have Team Phoenix, who have achieved, oh wait, what's that? Can't think of anything to say? Bathplug all! That's what!
And as for my poor qualifying performance for the first race of the year, I put it down to me still getting to grips with the car in wet conditions. Nonetheless Daniel is right up there and ready to get right in the mix for the race, so I'm hoping for a great result from him, and hopefully I'll be able to make up some decent ground, and leave that awful bucket of bolts that's apparently called the Team Phoenix car in my wake. Oh and Barii Mori too, he can go do one whilst he's at it as well!
MRT would like to spend its 200 remaining credits on reliability.
Anyways time for my sound bite for the day:
Daniel Melrose wrote:This is a simply fantastic way to start off the year. Whilst I do feel sorry for Nathanel for what happened to his engine, it was nonetheless a great result for Phillippe to pick up the pieces and score his first win in the F1RWRS. The Jones car which I've been given is simply awesome to drive and I feel that it's helping me get back to the form that I showed through the majority of my F1 career. Whilst we may not have the pace to take it to my team or DGNeering, I believe that we can easily be 'best of the rest' and show the rest of the grid what driver-run teams can really acheive.

From then on, the other 70 laps were pointless ********. And who cares if I bathplugged up and lost my front wing later? Wouldn't have made any bathplugging difference if I hadn't. The only comfort I can take from this event is the fact that our car can be driven into the points and that this first race is rather non-indicative of further results during the season, since the story of myself and Adalaide has never been a love story.
Sammy Jones wrote:I'm delighted that we've got both cars to the finish today, and both inside the top 10 too. I'm delighted for Daniel, a podium is a superb way to start off the season though I must say my own race by my own admission was very poor. I attribute that to my poor performance from qualifying which left me with too much to do in the race, and consequently my motivation wasn't all that it could have been. Nonetheless I'm confident for the next race and I'm happy that both Daniel and the team are off and running in their respective championships, this year shall hopefully be another successful one.
What a surprise the Dagnall engineered MRT wins and Dagnall comes second a lap ahead of everyone else at least. Those conspiracy theorists are now bouncing a little.
Barii Mori wrote:Well I could have finished in the points, but alas had water issues, still was RUNNING AHEAD OF JONES ALL RACE. Shinji Zanmai wrote:Katayama has shown wonderful skill to come from so far back to come 4th. I am sure we shall win races this season.
