Post by SuperAguri »

Work did get in the way :'(

Although it says I log in, I have my netbook with a number of tabs open so when I reboot the machine the tabs reload so I log on, even though I only have enough time to look at my emails. :(

However I will have plenty of time now, so I am going to run prequalifying and qualifying tonight. :D

The second half of the first half of the season gets underway :D

I am in Norway so I will post the prequalifying results around 9pm local time and the qualifying results around 11pm local time.

I do the full hour for prequalifying and qualifying so everyone gets a fair crack.

Thank you. Can I put WMRA up for sale? It's bathplugging failure (Mecha F1RWRS team is better - Davies reached as high as 3rd position in PQ yet he's DNPQ).

If it is not possible, I will enter Satoru Kagawa (male, Japanese, age 23, pay driver, JF3000 driver whose got points by attrition) as 3rd driver as required.

Spanish GP - Round 5/16 - Thursday Prequalifying

The Jarama curcuit is our destination for this years Spanish grand prix, although not used by F1 since 1981 it is been upgraded to make overtaking a little easier. However it is still tight and twisty so overtaking will be down to the drivers nerve and speed. The track has not been used this year and is quite dusty, willt his affect the drivers trying to prequalify? Well we will find out as the lights go green to start the prequalifying session.

Douglas Mann in the West Midands F1 team goes out first and is followed by David Koczo in the Clio Racing team, both find the grip tough to find and go wide at several points and post a poor 1:11.6 and 1:13.2 respectively. Josh Morton and Joan Gene (Welsh MRA), Andres Schussler (WMF1), Fedricio Rotondo and Shinobu Katayama (Zimsport) and the spritely Leonhard Von Gottrop (Foxdale) all go out and all slide off on their outlaps and first flying laps. Morton posting a rather poor 1:16.5 with Von Gottrop a 1:15.6. Andres Schussler topping the time sheets with a 1:07.4

Douglas Mann finds the grip to top the time sheets wtih a 1:04.93, Koczo not far behind with a 1:05.65. However Welsh MRA are on their feet Morton bangs in 2 red sectors to show he is the fastest in both and what's this, yes he gets another red sector to end up with a 1:04.71, even if they fail to prequalify, I am sure Welsh MRA will be happy with topping the time sheets if only breifly.

It was briefly too as his team mate Joan Gene manages to go faster with a 1:04.54, even Shinobu Katayama can only manage a 1:04.83. David Koczo brings it down to 1:04.47 a few corners later.

Von Gottorp comes into the pits as he can not find any grip. Florence Briggs comes out in place of her team mate.

Rotondo gets into 6th with a 1:04.94. It is looking good for Welsh MRA as they have the best overall time so far with Morton and Gene in 2nd and 3rd on the time sheets. The money they have spent on the car seems to have improved the low speed grip amazingly. Although as we say that Gene goes very wide at Turn 9.

Florence Briggs sets the fastest first sector but runs very wide and can only manage a 1:07.32. Only 9 cars have come out but the other drivers are looking like they are going to set a time on the slightly less dusty track.

Nikolas Sarkozy (Russian Bears), Dante Zetticci (CRT), Donald Mallon (Donkervoort) and Barii Mori (Hungarian) are all on the track doing outlaps.

Florence Briggs sets the monitors alight with red sectors and posts a 1:03.90, but if Von Gottrop can't improve his time it will all be for nothing.

Sarkozy catches a spin but Zetticci has to brake hard to avoid an accident, that could have been very nasty. They post times of 1:10.33 and 1:09.76 respectively. You hope that they aborted the lap and will post a better time this lap. Oh Mori has a big off, lots of dust in the air, but he comes straight back on the track.

Mitchell Macklin (Donkervoort) and Alexey Buyvolov (Russian Bears) are on the circuit. Mallon can only manage a slow 1:05.50 with Mori getting a 1:10.31 due to his off.

Mallon seems to have an issue and comes straight back into the pits, Mori is having issues finding grip and can only manage a 1:07.55, Macklin also has trouble going slower with a 1:07.93. Alexey Buyvolov slots his car into 5th with a reasonable 1:04.70. Sarkozy is up to 7th with a 1:05.27.

Rhys Davies looks cool and collected in the pit garage, sitting in his car, he should be worried as he has not posted any time and Mori is having issues with grip, but is he waiting for Moris data so he can capitalise on it? Mori still has issues but is going faster with a 1:06.26 but it is still way off getting through prequalifying.

Davies, Morton, Schussler and Rotondo are all on the track with Mori, Macklin, Sarkozy and Buyvolov. Macklin posts a 1:05.01 but is still way off the pace. Davies is however on the pace, setting a red sector for sector two and posting a 1:04.12. Mori goes a bit faster but by a tiny amount of 1:05.65.

Even Davies is not immune to sliding wide as he messes up the last corner and loses over a second. Mann and Katayama come out and Macklin goes back into the pits. Foxdale are working hard on Von Gottorps car, does it have an issue?

Morton is on a hot lap and goes faster with a 1:04.54, this takes him to 4th.

With 30 minutes gone, here is the order...

Briggs (Foxdale) - 1:03.900
Davies (Hungarian) - 1:04.115
Koczo (CRT) - 1:04.467
Morton (Welsh MRA) - 1:04.540
Gene (Welsh MRA) - 1:04.543
Rotondo (Zimsport) - 1:04.655
Buyvolov (Russian) - 1:04.695
Katayama (Zimsport) - 1:04.829
Sarkozy (Russian) - 1:04.919
Mann (WMF1) - 1:04.925
Macklin (Donkervoort) - 1:05.014
Schussler (WMF1) - 1:05.085
Mallon (Donkervoort) - 1:05.503
Mori (Hungarian) - 1:05.653
Zetticci (CRT) - 1:09.764
Von Gottorp (Foxdale) 1:15.575

For the teams it looks like this

Welsh Motor Racing - 02:09.083
Zimsport - 02:09.484
Russian Bears - 02:09.614
Hungrian Life - 02:09.768
West Midland F1 - 02:10.010
Donkervoort - 02:10.517
Clio Racing - 02:14.231
Foxdale Auto Racing - 02:19.475

Hungaruan need Mori top find about 2 tenths, and CRT and Foxdale need Zetticci and Von Gottrop to find some pace to qualify.

Mann finds some more pace and posts a 1:04.795, only a tenth and a bit but it moves him to 8th. Koczo goes faster with a 1:04.271. Schussler improves in the hundreths with a 1:05.042

Briggs comes back out to see if she can improve her time. Von Gottorp is also on the track. Mann improves again and jumps to 6th with a 1:04.638

Von Gottorp posts a 1:06.547, he is still struggling but he is no longer the slowest person on the track. Briggs however lights the monitor screens like a fruit machine and posts a 1:03.605, fantastic. Foxdale could make it yet.

Zetticci is back on track and he has had an earful, but he nearly loses it as he runs wide and nearly clips a wall.

Von Gottorp finds the groove and posts a 1:03.972 to more or less gaurantee Foxdale a spot in qualifying. Mori is back on track and will use his last two flying laps to try and get Hungarian into qualifying. Zetticci improves with a 1:06.606 but it is not enough for CRT, but he does have 5 flying laps to go, however he decuides to save them for one final run as he heads into the pits.

Mori on the other hand can not improve so Hungarian have no chance to prequalify.

Macklin is all over the track and is recording 1:10s. No one is improving as the session gets to the last 5 minutes. Mallon pops in a 1:04.573 which puts Donkervoort into qualifying.

Zetticci is out and does improve massively with a 1:05.539 but it is still not enough to displace Zimsport or Doonkervoort. Sarkozy and Buyvolov are also out on the track and there are realistically the only ones that could also displace Donkervoort for the last qualifying place. Buyvolov improves his time with a 1:04.568 and that is enough to displace Donkervoort by a tenth of a second. Sarkozy fails to improve but would it hamper Russian Bears?.

Zetticci only has one lap to improve, first sector is slower, second sector is faster but he is still a hundreth of a second down on his fastest time. A few more corners and he can only manage a 1:15.700. Welsh MRA are celebrating like they have scored points let alone just prequalified.

Drivers in bold have prequalified.

Florence Briggs - 01:03.605 (Foxdale Auto Racing)
Leonhard Von Gottorp - 01:03.972 (Foxdale Auto Racing)

Spanish GP - Round 5/16 - Thursday Free Practice Times

Free practice was done after preqaulifying and all teams were allowed to run in the hour session. Some of the teams that did not prequalify like Hungarian might feel hard done by as they did times that would have made them 2nd of the prequalifying teams and 3rd fastest time overall of the prequalifying teams but as Welsh MRA would point out they had prequalified and were working on rae stratergy.

Fighting Mongooses look like the team to beat with Roos and McReynolds getting the fastest times with Unser Jr, Mitchell and Nicolo all over a tenth behind. Rumour has it that the Mugen engine used is not the upgraded version, this will be wheeled out for qualifying and the race. Fleet will be hoping for speed and reliabilty this race as he posts an impressive 6th fastest time. Stavros will be wondering if the rot is setting in as they can only manage a slow 13th and 19th. EXTRAS update did not seem to make much of a difference although we will wait until qualifying as they may be showboating.

Lavezzi and Gawron are doing their level best to be the first to be fired as they end up 21st and 23rd a bit behind their team mates and a second off their pace.

Qualifying wil be exciting and more of that later :D

Is it possible to pass a team onto another user midseason if they wish, including changing team name?

Can that also include withdrawing drivers that have been entered and allocated to other teams?

Will be announcing how the reserve drivers, sacking and quitting drivers and new teams will work after the race on Monday (my next full day off). So watch this space wmetcalf68 and Eurobrun.

dr-baker wrote:Is it possible to pass a team onto another user midseason if they wish, including changing team name?

Yes, but there are some orphan teams (ones that people have entered and have not followed since) so people can take these over first.

Can that also include withdrawing drivers that have been entered and allocated to other teams?

Well yes and no, if say you as Foxdale was second in the championship with say Carlos Mils, but your driver Douglas Mann was leading the championship with a rival team, you would not be able to make Douglas Mann quit to give your driver more chance of taking the championship. However drivers may be able to quit or wish to leave if they feel that the team they are with is underperforming (ie Douglas Mann could wish to leave WMF1) and similarily teams can sack drivers that are driving like crap (unless they are pay drivers), however contracts would need to be honoured one way or another... If a person enters a driver and they leave or become awol then the drivers are still active.

Spanish GP - Round 5/16 - Friday Qualifying

The session starts and out first is Mils followed by Rotondo, Morton, Groves, Sarkozy, Fleet, Gawron, Briggs, Vitkin, Roos, Katayama, Buyvolov, Blackwell and Nicolo.

Mils sets a 1:05.102 way off the pace. Morton improves with a 1:04.345. Groves gets it to a 1:03.802 before Fleet crosses the line with a 1:03.250. Roos unsurprisingly gets a 1:02.670, but can anyone improve?

Nicolo gets within two hundreths of a second to post a 1:02.690.

White, Waladi and Patrese all wait in the pits.

Briggs finds some speed to get a 1:03.515 which puts her in 5th at the moment. Morton is currently in 9th with his first time, Gawron is currently 8th but some of the big guns have not come out. Mils set a faster time of 1:03.374 which puts him 4th fastest behind Fleet who set a 1:03.138.

Blackwell looks off the pace with a 1:04.433 currently 10th fastest and Rotondo is well behind in 14th and last with a 1:05.112 behind Buyvolov on 1:04.750 and Sarkozy on a 1:05.068.

Vitkin is 7th with a 1:03.888, Katayama is 11th with a 1:04.561. As we speak Blackwell improves with a 1:04.287 to bump him to 9th.

Patrese, Waladi and White come out. Mitchell, Lavezzi, McReynolds, Winson wait in the pits. However they come out as we speak.

Jones and Melrose come out to play. White sets the fastest first sector with a 17.532 but is slower in the second sector but he looks like he might grab provisional pole.

White indeed grabs provisional pole setting the fastest third sector with a 22.005 and a time of 1:02.630.

Gene comes out too. Only Unser Jr Kickert, Nash and Von Gottorp have yet to come out.

Waladi slots into 8th fastest with a 1:03.831 and Patrese into 10th with a 1:03.970. Lavezzi is slow in 13th place with a 1:04.225. Mitchell gets to 4th with a 1:02.873 setting the fastest third sector with a 21.958.

Mitchell will be having words with Lavezzi as he cuts him up on turn 5. Katayama is still on the track running now about a second off her fastest time. She only has 4 laps to go but is coming in now to give herself one flying lap.

McReynolds jumps to 4th with a 1:02.730, Jones is 6th with a 1:02.878, Patrese improves with a 1:03.454 and is in 9th.

McReynolds improves to 1:02.667 displacing his teammate to 3rd. Jones improves and gets a 1:02.826 to move him to 5th.

The rest come out, so we will have out first batch of times soon.

Unser Jr sets a 1:02.815 to be 5th fastest. Melrose manages a 1:03.387 to be 10th, but Von Gottorp sets a 1:03.338 to be in a fantastic 9th place at the moment. Gene can only manage a 1:04.875 which is currently 24th fastest.

Kickert sets a 1:02.990 which puts him in 8th at the moment, only Nash has not set a time and he only has a few corners to do. Nash does a 1:02.908 which means he is now in 8th.

28th - Federico Rotondo     - Zimsport             - 1:05.112

Unser Jr goes faster and jumps to 5th with a 1:02.755. Nash sets the fasest middle sector of a 23.086, takes a tenth off his time and jumps to 6th fastest.

Blackwell, Briggs, Katayama, Gawron, Mils, Rotondo, Groves, Buyvolov, Morton and Vitkin all come out again for second runs (or last run in the case of Katayama.)

Buyvolov shaves some time off but stays in 26th with a 1:04.736. Blackwell improves with a 1:04.191 and is now up to the dizzy heights of 21st. Katayama fails to improve and has used up her laps.

Patrese, Sarkozy, Fleet, Nicolo all come out to join in the fun.

Vitkin goes faster with a 1:03.782 to move him up to 18th. Morton goes faster with a 1:04.278 which leaves him in 23rd. Rotondo does improve but only by hundreths so his 1:05.081 leaves him in 28th and last. Groves improves a little with a 1:03.628. Sarkozy does a 1:05 dead but is still near dead last in 27th and he will be dead if he can't find at least half a second.

Winson, McReynolds, Lavezzi, White, Waladi, Mitchell all come out.

Nicolo gets the fastest middle sector with a 23.035. Mitchell sets the fastest first sector with a 17.527. Nicolo crosses the line with a 1:02.649 to move to 2nd on the provisional grid.

Jones, Gene and Dan Unser Jr come out. Mitchell sets his lap of 1:02.801 to move into 6th on the provisional grid.

Nicolo is not done yet as he sets the fastest first sector with a 17.485. However he blows the middle sector and comes into the pits.

Lavezzi takes a tiny amount of time off with a 1:04.220...

Waladi gets it wrong at the hairpin turn 5 and loses a wheel, he jumps out of the car so he is alright.

Melrose, Kickert and Von Gottorp leave the pits.

Gene improves his time with a 1:04.320 to leave him in 24th but still provisionally qualified.

Nash and Gawron come out for another run. As do Nicolo, Rotondo, Sarkozy.

Von Gottorp goes faster with a 1:03.209 however it still leaves him in 11th place. Nash improves with a 1:02.819.

Nash improves again with a 1:02.815 but it is too small to make any diffference.

Nicolo sets the fastest middle sector with a 23.025 but he can not improve on his time.

Kickert, Von Gottorp, Mitchell, Jones and Winson all come in for some fresh boots.

Winson improves with a 1:03.816. Kickert makes a minor imrpovement with a 1:02.972. Jones also improves with a 1:02.801 but none of these improve their provisional positions.

Mitchell is the last man that can improve his time, but he fails to do so.

So the session ends and here are the Friday provisional qualifying times.

Do remember kiddies that this is the ninties and that was only Friday qualifying, we still have Saturday qualifying to do too, this is being run as we speak.

This week I shall tell everyone how they can replace underperforming drivers, althogh due to credits or pay drivers some of you won't be able to. Higher performing teams are more likely to get fresh talent first but as we have seen being F3000 champion is no gaurantee that you will make the jump into F1 :D Also I will announce which teams are now defunct (as such) or how people can enter new teams.

In my case, I don't need to :D (Not that I had the chance). Kickert and Nash have been very competent this season, all thanks to Angela Merkel regime efforts. Although they might have to renegotiate their points debt later this year.

Spanish GP - Round 5/16 - Saturday Qualifying

Nash feels he needs to be the first out, he feels he needs to improve on his 8th fastest time.

Winson and Lavezzi also feel the need to come out as they could be driving for their futures.

Unser Jr will want to get on the first few rows and needs to find a tenth of a second to do so. Von Gottorp, Kickert, Groves, Morton and Melrose also all come out. Roos being the second of the big guns to come out too.

Nash does a 17.602, but Unser Jr gets a 17.502 first sector time.

Gene, Jones, McReynolds and Blackwell all come out too.

Nash sets a 1:02.900 but that is slower then yesterday, Unser Jr a 1:02.793 also slower. Von Gottorp sets a faster lap shaving off thousandths of a seconds with a 1:03.206.

Everyone on the track has set times but no one has improved. Lavezzi sets a 1:04.191 which equals the time of Blackwells Friday time but he stays in 23rd. Gene gets a few hundreths with a 1:04.308.

With that Unser Jr comes back into the pits. As does Melrose, Gene, Jones, McReynolds and Von Gottorp.

Briggs and Mils come out. Kickert sets a faster time of 1:02.942 which is 3 one hundreths of a second faster but nothing to move him up. Groves also goes a bit faster with a 1:03.594 but he is still in 16th.

Vitkin, Gawron, Katayam, Rotondo and Buyvolov come out.

Rotondo will not be setting any fast times by smacking the wall at Turn 5. He is running back to the pits to jump in the spare car.

The track is slow as fastest man on the track is Roos and he has a 1:02.685 which if he was just qualifying would be good enough for 5th. Fleet and Patrese also come out.

The two fastest men on the track, White and Nicolo are in the pits waiting for their moment. Sarkozy is also waiting, he needs to find a lot if he has any chance of qualifying.

Nicolo is the first to blink and he goes out with Sarkozy not far behind. White is biding his time. He is not going to waste valuable time if he is still at the top of the time sheets.

Waladis car comes out and he will be trying to improve on his 17th grid spot.

Vitkin sets a 1:03.769, slightly faster, two hunderths more and he will get 17th from Waladi.

Buyvolov goes a bit faster to set a 1:04.695. Patrese sets a time of 1:03.432, faster but by tiny ammounts.

White and Waladi come out, Mitchell is still the only person in the pits and there is no sign of his car. Jones, Winson, Lavezzi, Gene,?

Mitchell comes out as McReynolds comes out for a second go.

McReynolds goes faster and sets a faster time of 1:02.640 which puts him fastest of the session. He does not set any fastest sector times doing so.

Now that everyone has a time here are the session standings.

27th - Nikolas Sarkozy      - Russian Bears        - 1:05.104
28th - Federico Rotondo     - Zimsport             - 1:05.108

Although these are session standings rather then overall standings and McReynolds pushes Nicolo a row back as he is now second fastest overall.

On track is Lavezzi, Sarkozy, Gene, Von Gottorp, Mitchell, Melrose, Jones, Nash, Kickert, Winson, Waladi and Unser Jr

Melrose sets a time that is equal to the time he set yesterday with a 1:03.387.

Briggs, Roos, Groves, Mils, Gawron and Blackwell come out.

Morton, Rotondo, Katayama and Buyvolov come out.

Briggs goes faster with a 1:03.437 but stays where she is. Gawron also improves with a 1:03.891 but it does not improve her position. Katayama does not improve her time.

Vitkin, Sarkozy, Fleet and Nicolo all come out.

Nicolo sets a new fastest first sector with a 17.470, however he is slower on the next two sectors and although goes faster in this sesion with a 1:02.656 it is slower then the 1:02.649 he did yesterday.

Sarkozy on his last run does a 1:04.881 but it is not enough for him to qualify.

Patrese, White, Mitchell and McReynolds all come out.

White does fastest in the session with a 1:02.634 still slower then yesterday but it shows he is the fastest around here.

Gene, Von Gottorp, Jones and Melrose come out, Patrese has to slam on the brakes to avoid smashing into Melrose who did not look where he was going as he left the pits.

These will be the some of the last runs, and it looks like no one will improve too much. Although Nicolo comes in with a run still to do.

As I say that Mitchell sets a new faster time of 1:02.693 which puts him 5th on the grid.

Nash, Fleet and Unser Jr come out to see if they can improve on their last runs.

Unser Jr goes out and bangs in a fast lap of 1:02.687 to put him back in 5th.

Briggs, Vitkin, Gawron, Rotondo, Nicolo, Morton, White and Patrese come out for their final runs.

Everyone is not faster at the middle sector, Rotondo still can not break the 1:05 barrier and is out.

White showed some passion out there to qualify in pole. McReynolds bumping off Nicolo from the front row with a last gasp effort. It was close at the top with 6 hundredths of a second seperating White from Mitchell. It will be one tight race.

Aurora and European being best of the rest but Jones will not be too disapointed as he knows he can steal a win from 8th. Fleet did a fantastic job to get the car up to 10th just displacing a happy Von Gottorp. Foxdale have really improved with Briggs in 14th.

Stavros will want to know what has gone wrong, they were tipped to be a contender but with Melrose in 13th and Blackwell in 21st they will need to ask questions. EXTRAS improvements do not seem to have worked as Patrese was only 15th and Lavezzi just ahead of the other prequalifying teams in 22nd, maybe they will impress in the race?

Phoenix do need to raise their game if they are aiming to avoid going into prequalifying, 16th and 17th is lower then they really need to be. Deadbeat team mates Waladi, Winson, Gawron and Blackwell line up 18th to 21st. Gawron looking especially slow, 19 places behind her team mate, 1.2 seconds slower in the same car will number her days very quickly.

Welsh MRA will be happy with qualifyiung both cars in 23rd and 24th, althought the tight twisty nature of the circuit may have helped. The next race will be the real test of their cars improvements. Katayama and Buyvolov did enough to get on the grid, but will their race pace be good enough to get into the top 10, let alone points?

Sarkozy just could not raise his game to steel a grid slot where Rotondo will be disappointed with his early crash and knowing he had the pace to qualify.

[Race to be held asap, should have been yesterday but a Virus meant I had to rebuild the machine....]

Best overall sector times

S1 - Nicolo - 17.470
S2 - Nicolo - 23.025
S3 - Mitchell - 21.958

Combined sector times - 1:02.453

Any word on this? You (SuperAguri) told that this will be back by Monday. I haven't heard anything. :|

Also, it's only makes sense that Melrose, Mann, Davies, Koczo, Katayama, are time travellers.
