FORUM SHUTTING DOWN (TEMPORARILY)

Post by Kuwashima »

G'day all,

Due to the virus alerts etc some users have been experiencing, we're shutting the forum down for a while to fix the problem once and for all. We haven't been ignoring the issue, and have done a few things behind the scenes, but it's not working.

We'll be going offline around midday Sat 28th April Sydney time (2am 28th GMT, 10pm 27th US Eastern).

We'll be back better (or worse) than ever but how long we'll be down I don't know.

The main site should be unaffected for now, but it may be down later for a time as well.

Catch you when we return... in the meantime enjoy the Maki profile which makes pretty good reading :)

Cheers,
Jamie

In light of this decision, I have decided to host a temporary forum while the F1 Rejects forum is down on my own server. I am in the middle of installing phpBB at the moment, and will post a link here once it is up and running. Jamie, might I ask you to redirect users on f1rejects.com homepage to this temporary forum once I have it in place?

UPDATE: The PC I am on right now is having connectivity issues so it won't be up and running until about 1900 GMT+1.

Haha. Kind of you. Sounds a plan. If yours is better we might never be back!

This is actually a pretty good idea. This forum was presenting plenty of problems with worms and virus at home. Hope for the best!

That was a pretty long shutdown period for just maintenance, so?

The forum was being devirused and cleaned up so it runs faster. Evidently there was a lot of viruses/hack codes embedded, or Jamie was too busy.

It's good to see the forum is alive and well again.

Right... and at now it's really faster than before. I like this thing! ;)
