ArrowsF1 Cosworth:
We would like to firstly congratulate Felipe Massa on his simply fantastic drive today in tricky conditions. The car seems to be working brilliantly on the twisty circuits, Magny-Cours being another example. With the rumours surrounding Massa's seat for next year, we would like to confirm his seat is safe for 2004. The whole Arrows Cosworth F1 team are delighted to finally claim out first win, especially after the severe financial problems the team had in 2002. The win now puts us ahead of Minardi and just behind Jordan, something we didn't think was possible. This is a day we will never forget.

I obviously can't sack a race-winning driver after that performance, so Sutil's seat is now under threat. Any word on the proposed Engine deal between BMW and Arrows yet? Costs, drivers needed etc...

Each engine will cost $1 million ($3 million total for three engines) or $750k each ($2.25 million total) if you take that muppet Briscoe off our hands as well

And Shaza, how much are the Cosworth engines for next year? Both spec's...

The CR5 is not avaliable, The CR4 is not avaliable because of your finances, the CR3 is 2.5 Million per engine.

The BMW is 1 Million per engine.

We only just stole that ourselves!!

Arrows announce BMW and Briscoe.
Arrows F1 have signed Ryan Briscoe as their official test-driver for 2004, replacing British youngster Lewis Hamilton. As part of the deal, BMW engines also arrive, replacing the powerful but expensive Cosworth's that plagues the team last year "This gives us a better footing on the financial front for next year, as the BMW engines are to be the same spec as the ones Williams are using. This team thrives on it's continued success and we aim to push further up the grid next year", said team boss and driver Adrian Sutil. "My seat is still undecided, as we may need a pay-driver next year to help balance the books. But the new engines certainly helps us".

Arrows may also be looking for a re-banding opportunity with BMW, renaming the engines as Megatron to reflect past glories with the historical team. "Arrows Megatron would sound fantastic, I'd love to bring that back!"

What component of the Minardi needs worked on the most? We'll throw EVERYTHING we've got at it until the end of the season.

Also, against my better judgement, we will re-sign Hakkinen for next season, and try and poach Jean Alesi from Renault :P

Sauber needs to save money so we will also decrease staff costs by only bringing minimal staff to each race from now on. We will stay in the least expensive accommodations and we will also cut two staff from the pit crew. Sauber is happy to sign Petronas and we would like to put 25% of our time on another sponsor, preferably a two-star sponsor (Credit Suisse, if available). We would also like to put all R&D towards next year's chassis.

Jaguar will resign FedEx and Martini, to whatever spots I can (I'm too lazy to go back and do it properly), and will resign Badoer for next season. I'll resign Sato if he can get one more points finish. James Courtney will stay on as test driver.

Ok, Sponsors resigned, Drivers contracts sorted, Qualifyiing for round 14, the final European race, Monza:

Image

There seems to be something awfully fishy about those Ferraris....With Wilson making his first ever Grand Prix start. Many cars fall fowl of the 107% but only the Asiatechs and Pedro de la Rosa will not take the start. Massa goes from race winner to outside 107%. The lighter Renaults look quick and Jordan can never seem to have both cars go fast on Saturday. The race is 53 Laps.

I think after this race, new technical regulation will mean cars will have to race with the same parts they qualified with, so your welcome to risk running illegal driver aids, but have a chance of being caught!

But as you found the loop hole I hadn't thought off, I will allow it for this race.

To hell with it, let's try something wild. Hakkinen will stick to a standard 2 stop, but Franchitti will 1 stop, is that possible if you switch out the fuel tank?

"Something wild"? I tell you what is something wild: the four-stop strategy Ferrari used at Magny-Cours for Barrichello. Your tactic is just midfield luckshooting. Seems like Alasdair Lindsay has lost his flair and edge.

Before I post the race results, I have to say ROTR goes to Ferrari pit schenanigans.

Justin WIlson jumps the start and gets a drive through. Then gets a penalty for speeding in the pitlane. This cost so much time that Wilson loses a lap to Barrichello so they both pit at the same time. Wilson is forced to continue because Barrichello is in the pits. Wilson manages to survive a lap and pits in again. Meanwhile Barrichello gets a stop go penalty for speeding in the pitlane. He comes in to the pits but sees Wilson in the box, having the stop that Justin missed because of Barrichello, so Barrichello has to do another lap and come in to serve the stop go.
