New Rfactor Computerised Series?

Post by pasta_maldonado »

Would anyone be interested in another series you can join? I would simulate it in Rfactor using the 1991 F1 mod, using a 18-22 race season. The series would use a choice of AGS, Brabham, Ligier, Coloni, Modena, Minardi, Leyton House, Larrousse and Arrows chassis along with a choice of Ferrari, Ford, Renault, Judd, Honda, Ilmor, Lambo and Yamaha engines. There would be a 28- car grid limit for the races, and prequalifying sessions if interest is high enough. Are people interested? If there is enough interest the series will go ahead (I'll post full details in a new thread). If you are interested, please post, if people are not interested (due to being a lot of championships taking place, this not being exciting enough etc.) the series will not run.

I'm interested, but I kind of lack experience with this sort of stuff. Barely signed up for the next F3RWRS season.

It'd be a little similar to F1RWRS, buy a chassis, buy an engine , select drivers etc. People who express interest in here will get priority for chassis and engine selction should the real thing run. I'd also comprise race reports, with pictures, and news and rumours and stuff

There are an awful lot of sign up series popping up now!
I might join this but I will depend on the interest.

As you are after interest for that matter, do you think there should be an "Ideas" thread? I know we sort of have one already but It is more related to Alternative championships rather then sign ups.

That would be a good idea because it would enable would-be series runners to gauge interest in their series before they launch it (or not).

If i can get between 10-15 people interested in owning a team, I'll start the series

rFactor online series with an historic mod? I'd definitely partecipate in this :D (and if the series is gonna start, we'll use Historic or League Edition of 1991 mod?)

Colour me interested. However, my presence on this forum will be much reduced from now until the end of May, thanks to exams, so if it starts during this month, I might not be able to participate...

I was thinking more of an offline, AI series, I was thinking an online series would be impractical due to the locations of the forum members around the world

Sorry for the double post. East Londoner, it'd be an offline series, and you'd get priority when setting up a team due to your post here, and the only participation would be voluntary, like providing news, press confrences, rumours, etc

FORCWSOGMM? I proposed a female-drivers-only series (like F1RMGP's WEC, but for fictional drivers) but I have yet to do it because I've can't change the tracks. :|

I'm not so sure. What you're doing here is essentially what I suggested F1RWRS should become. There are series everywhere and I fail to see how this offers something different to F1RWRS.

I struggle to keep track of so many championships. There was a time that I would enter each and every one, but have reduced it to F1RWRS (the original and the best!), one of the GP2 championships (the one in which Douglas Mann has got stroppy because his Williams Renault kept blowing up!) and several major one-off races, like the 24-hour Bathurst race. Also helps to keep the drivers' and teams' stories a bit more consistant.

If only Jeroen's F1CC hadn't bit the dust. I bathplugging loved that series! :(

Yeah, me too! Pippa Mann getting a podium in a Mastercard Lola, Douglas Mann winning the title on countback in a Williams... I have fond memories...

Well, if it turns out to be too similar to F1RWS (i'll try to make it unique) I'll can it

I completely agree. I haven't the time to be investing a serious amount of attention into lots of fictional championships, hence why I've restricted myself to the RWRS universe, and even then I'm having trouble keeping tabs on my drivers and who I'll be employing for coming seasons!

Well, we already have the REECCS for that, with Skodas, Ladas, Wartburgs, etc.

I proposed GTRWRS but it was declined on account of it being an active rather than passive user involvement series. If there is a DTM or LMS pack you could perhaps run that :)
