This weekend: 40th 24 Hours of Nurburgring!!

Post by patrick »

Just a heads up for fans of GT action and the green hell!!
If I remember correctly the race was streamed on the N24 website last year as well as english commentary from Radio Le Mans. If not I'll be linkhunting when the time comes!

A great race, a bit more difficult to follow than something like Le Mans due to the 170 (!) starters and sheer size of the track but nonetheless great to dip in and out of. Hope some forumers will be following it, after all, there's nothing more beautifully rejectful than a state-of-the-art McLaren MP4-12C GT3 competing in the same race as....

That is not rejectful! That is an excellent Opel Manta! 8-) *nostalgic*

Everytime I see Toshio Suzuki's name I realise that I keep on forgetting about him.

Müller is really really on it from lap one, look at that gap!

And Wolf Henzler looks ANGRY at Peter Kox, that McLaren looks like an absolute hanful to drive holding him up...

about 4-5 hours in, seems all the McLarens have been wiped out by accidents. The lead seems to be between the Mercs and the bmw z4s. Pretty action packed so far, punctures and crashes galore

Not surprising, the MP4-12Cs looked like they had a hull and rudder instead of wheels and a steering rack.

Manthey Porsche is starting to make up ground, up to 5th now. Write them off at your peril, remember in 2008 their car was almost destroyed at the start in a crash, it took ages to fix, and they just drove like stink for the next 23 hours and still won.

And just after I say that, it hits a problem and drops out of the Top 10. Luhr binned it out on the Nordeschlife somewhere. Image

The #44 Falken Porsche seems to have vanished off the face of the earth?

 #19 BMW has transmission failure. Race has been blown wide open!

write them off at your peril indeed, manthey porsche now p3 and comfortable.
there was some early morning rain that shook things up, #22 merc led for a while but was pressured by one of the audis and damaged suspension.
running order is now;
#20 bmw
#3 audi (+20s)
#11 manthey porsche (+4min)

meanwhile, the #155 opel manta is p61 overall, p2 in class and chasing down the class leading toyota gt86!

Looks like the Team Phoenix Audi R8 has this wrapped up now...but that means, F1 Reject Markus Winkelhock will win the ADAC 24H Rennen!!! :D

Image No-one wants third place! With 20 SECONDS left, the Manthey Porsche parks on the start/finish and gets crashed into by a Clio, the #66 Mercedes tried to go to Parc Ferme before it finished the race to claim 3rd, total chaos at the end!
