Jaguar to be re-named. One driver confirmed.
Jaguar Racing have now been renamed to 'Ford Racing', following the American company's continued input into the new team. As part of the deal, Ford Racing will continue to use customer Cosworth engines for this year and 2001. With the American's already having one team in USF1, all eyes from the States will be on the battle of the Americas, as Ford Racing aim for a top 6 finish in the constructors table. Helping them to hopefully achieve this will be former CART driver Paul Tracy, who after much thought, has decided to make his bow in the Formula1 world, signing a two-year deal.

The holder of the second seat at Jordan was fully revealed this Friday afternoon, when team owner Eddie Jordan announced a deal to hire Scottish David Coulthard to partner his compatriot Colin McRae for the 2000 Formula One season. Coulthard previously was at McLaren, where he partnered the two-time World Champion Mika Hakkinen.

"David is a experienced driver and will be what we just need to develop Jordan into a contender", said Jordan. Coulthard showed happiness with his new team and hopes Jordan to fight for good places in the upcoming season.

"I trust on Eddie's plan for the year. I talked earlier with McRae and he seems quite excited as me with what Jordan offered us"

Jordan planned to unveil its new car, the EJ10, next week and start testing at some British tracks, with their new test driver, Brazilian Mario Haberfeld
Is this Japanese or British Autosport? Because if it's the latter I'm very surprised they're reporting McRae has signed for Jordan

Autosport wrote:Brabham launch their car, and announce driver.

Here is Brabham's challenger for the 2000 season, the BT61. It follows on from the previous incarnation of the team in their chassis nomenclature, and uses the blue and white colour scheme used by the former team in the 1980s and early 90s. Major sponsorship has been brought in by LG and Eidos, and sponsors such as Cartoon Network and Eurobet signed with the team before their takeover. This car has been designed to fit the Peugeot engine; their partnership with the team was announced previously. Total come on board to provide fuels.
Brabham have also announced their new first driver for the 2000 season, Italian driver Giancarlo Fisichella. Fisichella was not retained by Benetton so a deal was done with Brabham very quietly, as previously Jan Magnussen and Alex Wurz were linked with the team. Team principal Jacques Couteau said "Giancarlo eez a very good driveur, and...urhh...I saw ze opportunity when Benetton decided not to resign 'im. He eez very experienced now, and we 'ope he will bring us many good moments.". Giancarlo will get the #18 car, whereas Heidfeld will be #19. There will be no test driver, as the team have decided the amount of change will require both drivers to spend as much time in the car as possible.

Alongside Peugeot-sponsored Stéphane Sarrazin, Prost confirmed Manuel Gião as test driver. The Portugese driver finished second in the 1999 Euro Open by Nissan season, just one point behind championship winner Fernando Alonso.

Nope, I already signed him to the McLaren young driver program.

In that case i'll sign HWNSNBM and Alonso in my driver development programma. However the reserve seat will be for Marc Goossens, one of the most underrated drivers of the late nineties. (though his results in F3000 and Le Mans are defenitely nothing to be ashamed of)

I suppose Luca Badoer can still be Ferrari's test and reserve driver, like last year in spite of him driving for Fondmetal. Rest assured, we can promise him he'll take over a race seat should something happen to either of our drivers.

In that case, we shall also keep Marc Gené aboard as our own test and reserve driver, should Badoer have to fill in for either of the Ferrari drivers.

Nattapong Horthongkum does not meet the 107% rule in Prost and will not start the Australian Grand Prix.

on the place holder team, set the tire pressures and wing levels to ridiculous levels, your cars will crash out of qualifying and not appear on the scoreboard, this also allows other cars to be excluded from the 107% rule. Also man did Williams suck.

2000 Australian Grand Prix Race Results

Image

Infinite Improbability Drive of the Race goes to Jeff Gordon, whose USF1 team used strategy to get him out front. Bruno Junquiera comes a close second for that as both drivers get a podium on their debuts.

And the points after one round,.....

Image

This should be an interesting season. McLaren and Ferrari are still there, but can USF1 duplicate their success, which some critics are already calling a fluke result?

2000 Brazilian GP Qualy Results

Image

MSC 2-2 on poles so far, Horthungkum "impresses" once again, Fondmetal surprises with their qualifying pace, USF1 off pace thus further proving Gordon's win as a fluke, Panis and Diniz had problems with their cars, so the stewards will let them start the Grand Prix.
