Thank you for recommending Hal Robson. He competed at the Indy 500, so he can't be that bad. :)

Therefore Maple Leaf Racing will sack Pease in favor of Robson.

In his defence he made two unscheduled stops, each just after his first two scheduled stops, hence his low position. He had been on the same strategy as de Graffenried and Uria and was ahead of both until his race fell apart.

Just looked into everyone's pitstops in the replay, while most stubbornly decided to stick with a three stop strategy in spite of the fact that fully fresh tyres here gave you as many as five seconds over fully worn ones. Parsons, Niell, Bira and Kelly did four stops, the first of which was around lap 15 meaning that they had around 25 laps of having fresher tyres than everyone else. Only Parsons managed to use that advantage to its full potential by making sure that he always stopped at different points to the leaders while Niell and Bira foolishly made the rest of their stops in sequence with the more conservative strategies meaning they lost their advantage for the rest of the race. Kelly had his race ruined first when he hit the wall which together with a stop for repairs cost him a lap, then he dropped back further when he spun.

Finally there was an alternate three stop strategy which de Graffenried, Uria, Junkova, Chiron and Stuck were on, the latter two of course had their races ruined before they could work properly. This involved making their pitstops about ten laps sooner than everyone else on the three stop strategies which gave them ten laps of fresher tyres and allowing them to gain back all the time they lost from the pitstop but came with the disadvantage of slower pace once the others made their their stops. De Graffenried started out the final stint just behind Villoresi but by the time the finish came he had lost thirty seconds and was almost caught by Rubirosa.

As for ROTR I'd give it to Lundgren, his crash was pretty comical. He planted his car into a tyre barrier while attempting to overtake Gaze around the outside of a tight left-hander.

My experimental lap chart is up, along with our ROTR.

Round 2 at Sebring will begin from either Thursday evening or Friday. Confirm drivers if you haven't already.

Oh and the Salvador circuit have announced plans to expand its paddock and pitlane to accommodate a full field for 1952 after a successful debut race.

So Wallenius had unscheduled pit stop at the early stages? Or mistake which dropped him last?

Think he had a puncture very early on. Too early for fresher tyres to have enough of an advantage.

Looks like this might be a rather boring season title fight wise as Fangio took pole once again from Luigi Villoresi and Robert Manzon.

So Fangio won again but Villoresi managed to be a thorn in his side over the first stint. Sadly just as the Italian got within one second of Fangio, his race rapidly fell apart in spectacular fashion culminating in him plowing into the back of a back-marker.

ROTY will be added tomorrow.

Ho-humm, a DNQ first and now an avoidable collision. We'll give Lippmann one more chance - if he fails to score points in the next race, he will sit out for a while and be replaced by Asturias Hall.

Drying conditions throughout qualifying saw a grid result that was rather different to the usual pecking order. Joe Kelly managed to take advantage of being the last driver to set a time in the session by taking his and Ireland's second ever pole position. Juan Jover will start alongside. Meanwhile Fangio will start down in 14th. Other usual front runners will also start from low down, Stuck and Trintignant both make up row six.

Joe Kelly manages to pull off the win! He was admittedly helped out by the slower pace of Jover and Chiron holding up the larger threats in Moss and Fagioli but Kelly takes his and Ireland's debut win entirely on merit. Fangio meanwhile had a somewhat mediocre race by his standards, not really making much progress and hampered by slow pitstops and twice getting held up by stubborn backmarkers. He finished 8th but Argentina still lead by 18 points over Italy.

Harsh, his car gave up on him and I reckon he could have scored since he was ahead of Claes when it happened. But as you wish. ;)

Think I just need Italy's plans now. If anyone else wants to run a different driver to who I have listed let me know on here.
