Okay, sorry if I'm a bit late, but here is the next theme for track design.

-This competition is to alter a current track so that it could be used for F1
-Track must use original pit lane and front straight, though the straight can be lengthened as you wish.
-Track length must be between 2.8 to 4.1 miles
-The track you alter must be a permanent road course that has either not hosted a Grand Prix before or has not hosted a Grand Prix since 1999.

Deadline is Sunday,so get designing!

Just got one done but when looking it, distance was 2,7 miles, so let's start from the scratch.

I had a great idea for Curitiba, then looked at a satellite image of the track and realised it would involve multiple bridges and taking down dozens of houses. So instead I turned Jarama into Losail.

OK, here is my entry. After thinking several other renovations, ended up with Oschersleben.

http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=5627579

Start/finish straight gets a little bit more length. The first corner is quite quick and sharp. Then we return to existing track for a very brief moment until slow right-hander. At the next corner, the revised circuit takes current circuit in opposite direction, making fast left-hander into fast right-hander. After left-hander which is planned to be about 3rd gear corner short straight before tight 2nd gear corner. The next kilometre or so is flat out, with small kink between but it should not distract drivers. The track uses actually existing road here, but of course it gets widened for this revision. After the straight there is slow-ish right-hander and then accelerating through another corner. Fast S-curves before long left-hander and return to current circuit. At the end of the lap there is another revision with straight continuing longer and ending in hairpin. I tried to be careful not to destroy existing karting circuit here. After final S section we are back on the main straight. Pit lane will have Montreal-esque entry, continuing straight when the track itself takes a turn.

I've made some incremental changes to Jerez, making some of the corners faster in places and adding some more overtaking opportunities on each end of the start-finish straight: http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=5627763

My entry: http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=5627743

Because Silverstone is flat and boring, so let's take the British GP to Oulton Park!

There are a couple of alterations to the existing circuit, the start/finish straight is lengthened considerably, with a new turn one to the south of the existing track, a long looping right-hander. Turn 2 is a left-handed curve that brings the track back on to the original circuit as it plunges down the hill into Cascades. From there, it's the circuit as normal, along the lake, round Island Bend, and into the Shell Oils Corner. From there, the track remains true to the original as it curves back round to the right, straight-lines the Britten Chicane, and then turns left for the new Turn 7. A short straight is followed by the right-handed Turn 8, which leads onto a medium-length straight that heads back towards the original track. Rejoining at the Turn 9-10 left-right flick as the Knickerbrook corner is restored to its former glory, the track then continues as it is now around Druids and Lodge, back around to the front straight.

May need a bit more run-off in places, and possibly some additional car park space and better transport access, but these are just trivial points really!

My entry: http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=5627823

I edited the TI Circuit (aka the Okayama International Circuit) in Japan. I got rid of Turn 3 and made what was Turn 4 into a simple hairpin, derived from the original track on the following straight and joined up on what was Turn 6, then derives off again on Turn 9, then goes off again with the second midfield section and rejoins around Turn 10 to the start/finish line. I'm quite pleased with this, really. And while we're on the topic of re-tooling circuits, I had an idea to re-do the New Hockenheim, but I found out that there was a race quite recently

Also, can I give the Reject award to BaconLettuceNinja already? You had lots of choices and you picked the wrong one!!! Sorry, couldn't control myself. Anyways, Jerez doesn't need re-doing. [/JerezRant]

Couldn't do Baltimore, as I believe it has to be a permanent race circuit...

Might remake Zolder then...

I wanted to adapt Brands Hatch, but just couldn't make it long enough within the confines of the property, then I tried adapting Rockingham (the British one, not the American one) and I could only get to a maximum of 2.6 miles. So I decided to try a high-speed configuration at Eurospeedway Lausitz to rival Monza for lap times, and so here is my effort. We need more fast, high-speed tracks which reduce the need for aero and DRS.

Here is my atempt http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=5628332 at Buenos Aires track.

I did everything within the confines of the track and using the lake where the old 80´s circuit ran around. Now this is what I tried to do; The pit straight would be longer, we would need to get rid of part of that old grandstand to make space for safety reasons; Turn 2 leads into a very fast straight round the first part of the lake, it starts closing at the end of it and a heavy breaking area for the next turn; the drivers would be coming back through a series of fast esses and a fast right corner into a hairpin; the last sector of the track has two fast corners, leading into two mid-speed right corners which lead into a straight close to that at Hockenheim, but shorter (enough for creating a passing opportunity), and a slow right corner leading again into the start/finish straight. Track has been designed so pit and paddock area can be extended for modern F1 use. The second corner has been placed close enough to the hairpin in order to close the track there for a national circuit.

Here's my rejectful attempt at Nogaro: http://kuvaton.com/k/YVrZ.jpg

I really had trouble sharing it. First, Pedometer didn't give me the link with which I could share it, so I screenshotted and tried to upload it on Photobucket. There I got an "Error: Resize error: - IMP" message and the file won't upload. It took me a while to find a service that worked.

Forget the last track, this is my new entry: http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=5630152

Zolder looked a bit dull, but now it has more of a mixed bag of corners, a (sort of) rip-off of Hockenheim's stadium section and bridges over a river.

Okay, the brief!

The Shetland Islands are always left out of things, they even barely make it onto the national weather forecasts. The only things they can look forward to are fish, storms, and the Island Games which they somehow managed to host in 2005. We need to change this, and therefore the answer to their problem is the Shetland GP!

You must design a race circuit on the Shetland Islands, for those that don't know, that's these bunch of islands here: https://maps.google.co.uk/?ll=60.362281,-1.208496&spn=1.589162,4.938354&t=h&z=8

The circuit must be between 3 and 5 miles in length.
It must consist of at least 3 miles of existing roads.
Any new piece of track built cannot be a bridge, it must be based entirely on land.

Other than that, get designing! 8-)
