The Random Rejects Racing Series (3RS)

Post by Ferrarist »

I thought I'd throw this little series in. As the name says, this series will be random. The drivers will be random, as well as the venues the series will race on. Unfortunately, as I'll use xkoranate, I can't simulate random cars. Here is the modus:

- Just sign up for the series. You don't have to enter fictional or real-life drivers, just shout out that you'll compete in that series.
- Eligible drivers are those, who are currently in the Castrol Driver Rankings. So you could either end up with Sebastian Vettel or Lo Ka Chun (I don't know who that is. Castrol Driver Rankings says that he's driving in the WTCC. Probably one of those one-offs who appear at the Asian races.).
- Oh yeah, your driver will be randomly drawn.
- The same goes with the tracks. I'll take add one race each from one of the major series schedule, with the exception of the series finale, which will be completely random. It'll go like that:

1. Formula 1 track
2. NASCAR Sprint Cup track
3. IndyCar track
4. WEC track
5. WTCC track
6. DTM track
7. FIA GT1 track
8. Super GT track
9. V8 Supercars track
10. Any random track

- To make it more exciting, the tracks won't be revealed immediately, only before the respective race.
- I'll run the WTCC format with 2x50km races. However, the second race will see a completely reversed grid. I don't if this has any effect on the xkoranate simulation, but I'll do it for some faux entertainment.
- I'll use the FIA points system.
- I'll allow a maximum of 26 entrants. As there will be only one car per user, 26 participants should be enough.

Any question? Ask them! If not, then enter this series now!

Welcome to the first ever round of the Random Rejects Racing Series, or short; 3RS! The first track of the season will be Silverstone in Great Britain. 21 drivers try to win the 3RS title, and as there are only 10 rounds, one has to perform superb from the start. The first step is the qualifying, and here are the results of said qualifying:

Qualifying for the 3RS Grand Prix of Silverstone
1 Alex Gurney 1:32.047
2 Ricky Stenhouse Jr. 1:32.698
3 Craig Breen 1:32.957
4 Julien Jousse 1:33.342
5 Rob Collard 1:33.507
6 Joe Nemechek 1:34.337
7 Jean-Karl Vernay 1:36.481
8 Alexandre Negrao 1:36.900
9 Jay Cochran 1:36.942
10 Eddie Bell 1:37.856
11 Takayuki Aoki 1:39.045
12 Martin Jensen 1:40.822
13 Davide Capellini 1:41.227
14 Tim George Jr. 1:41.305
15 James Kovacic 1:41.356
16 Michael Skeen 1:41.897
17 Francesco Parli 1:41.911
18 Ivan Lukashevich 1:41.989
19 Roberto Papini 1:42.087
20 Gustavo Micheloud 1:42.100
21 Ernesto Bessone 1:42.637

Following the qualifying, the first of the two races goes ahead. Remember, each race goes over the distance of 50km, thus giving the fans short, sweet battles. Also, it's doubtful that fans like to sit through such a grid for a much longer race.^^

Image
ROTR: Alex Gurney: Scores Pole Position - ends up finishing at the back of the field.

Thus we have the following points standings:
Drivers Championship
1. Jean-Karl Vernay - 25pts.
2. Ricky Stenhouse Jr. - 18pts.
3. Rob Collard - 15pts.
4. Craig Breen - 12pts.
5. Jay Cochran - 10pts.
6. Julien Jousse - 8pts.
7. Joe Nemechek - 6pts.
8. Alexandre Negrao - 4pts.
9. Davide Capellini - 2pts.
10. Eddie Bell - 1pt.

For the second race of the day, the grid is completely reversed, with the exception of Martin Jensen, the only retirement of the 1st race. Thus, Gustavo Micheloud has the pole position.

Image
ROTR: The reversed grid, for being completely immobile. Alternatively, Jean-Karl Vernay; wins first race, only finishes 18th in race 2.

Drivers Championship
1. Craig Breen - 27pts.
2. Jean-Karl Vernay - 25pts.
=. Alex Gurney - 25pts.
4. Ricky Stenhouse Jr. - 18pts.
=. Gustavo Micheloud - 18pts.
6. Rob Collard - 15pts.
7. Ivan Lukashevich - 12pts.
8. Eddie Bell - 11pt.
9. Jay Cochran - 10pts.
10. Julien Jousse - 8pts.
=. Ernesto Bessone - 8pts.
12. Joe Nemechek - 6pts.
=. Francesco Parli - 6pts.
13. Alexandre Negrao - 4pts.
=. Tim George Jr. - 4pts.
15. Davide Capellini - 2pts.
=. Michael Skeen - 2pts.
17. Roberto Papini - 1pt.

Well, that was certainly an exciting round from Silverstone. Our next round will take place in the United States, as we'll visit a NASCAR Sprint Cup circuit. But which one? It will be...the Texas Motor Speedway at Fort Worth! Well then, see you next time for another round of the 3RS!
