Re: Virtual 1977 F1 Season - New Teams and 1977 engines
I've found a solution for Ensign's financial problems: Merge the team with Theodore and tell Brabham to get stuffed as Theodore ran a customer Ensign during the 1977 season.

If that's ok, we'd be interested in Jean-Pierre Jabouille and Rene Arnoux.
You can run Renault in 1977. Do you want to run Fittipaldi until the end of 1976,or do you want to drop them now?
I'll drop them now.

The logic dictates that the serial numbers continues. That and I'm too lazy to think on another one.

Re: Virtual 1977 F1 Season - New Teams and 1977 engines
I would like to continue with Hesketh with 1977 spec Ford engines. I would like to keep Patrick Tambay and John Watson, but we would listen to offers for these drivers. We would also like to give a 19 year old Eddie Cheevar a one off race in the US West GP with an option on him for the rest of the season.
Hesketh will not attend the first three fly away races of Argentina, Brazil or South Africa to save some money.

Re: Virtual 1977 F1 Season - New Teams and 1977 engines
Ferrari would like to assert that Niki Lauda will be driving for the Scuderia in 1977. However Jody Scheckter has been far slower and will be dropped if another driver is signed (Villeneuve/Fittipaldi/Reutemann in that order)
Re: Virtual 1977 F1 Season
The issue of chassis designation has become a non-issue for Penske, since I would like to retire from this game for the 1977 season onwards. It's nothing personal but I for my part have noticed that I am involved in too many virtual series to give each the attention it deserves.

OK, then I will add Penske to the list of available teams.

We will resign Jarier as our lead driver for next season, with Stommelen coming back to be our second driver and Lombardi will be our third entry in selected races. Offer them all 5% pay rises. If for any reason one of them declines the offer, Stuck can deputise.
Since Klon has left the series, the Ferrari engines are yours.

Ferrari will offer Gilles Villeneuve 250,000 to race for Ferrari. And there ain't nothing Ensign can do about it unless they can offer more money!

Yes, you're right, 400.000 isn't enough to run a team, I increased Apollon's and McGuire's budgets to 600.000

What is wrong with you? Why is everything so personal? I don't give a damn who Gilles Villeneuve is driving for, just give me Gilles! I want him in my team more than Lauda for freaks sake. Why don't you understand the Villeneuve-Ferrari thing? He is one of my favourite drivers beacuse he was freaking crazy and would never give up. Stop making this a war, I want Villeneuve and I don't care who I'm taking him from. It could be Ensign, it could be Brabham, it could be Shadow, it could me Maki, I don't care.
Also, correct me if I'm wrong, but your team is broke, so how can you offer any money at all? And why would GV stay at a tiny independent single car team when a manufacturer gave him an offer? In real life Ensign wouldn't stand a chance at keeping a driver against McLaren, Tyrrell, Ferrari, etc.

At the end of the day though, who in their right mind would reject an offer from Ferrari to stay at Ensign? Especially when the driver in question is one with a fondness for Ferrari. Sometimes you have to pick your battles.

There is a difference between being an "idiot" and someone taking something from you. Your age has been showing a lot lately, acting much like the real life Ferrari and throwing your toys out of the pram. I'm well within my rights to ask for things. Just because you don't like it doesn't give you license to start calling people idiots and so on. I think maybe you need a break from this, or perhaps some self-reflection. Name calling and whining is not the answer. You're a stranger on a forum, I don't actually know you so I have no good reason to bother wasting my energy and time screwing you over.
And that is the nature of competition, the big fish come along and steal from the little fish. You should have seen this coming when you picked said driver while running such a small team. I wanted Ferrari when this thread was opened but Phoenix was online first and beat me to it, I only jumped in mid-season because I waited for it to free up again. I'd have never picked Scheckter, I'd have gone for Peterson or Villeneuve from the start along with Lauda.

We never said we were better than McLaren, who, in fairness, have done an excellent job this season and uncovered a real gem in Tom Pryce. But looking at the constructors standings, even if we remove our better driver from the points standings, we are still ahead of Ensign...

I meant better as in more important, which Ferrari is not. Ensign believes that all F1 teams are equally important

In other news, I'd like to take over Penske. But it would be nice if someone could say 2-3 sentences about my team. Like, do I have to sign new drivers, a new car and a new engine? Would be nice, if someone might explain it to me.

Well, Penske scored a few points in the first half of last year but have been anonymous ever since. As far as drivers go, you can either keep the current lineup of Jochen Mass and Jocko Maggiacomo or sign two new drivers. As far as I know, Jody Schekter is the biggest name on the market but there are some promising guys you can sign. In terms of engines, you can sign any from the first few posts of the thread with the exceptions of Ferrari and Renault as all the slots have been taken for them.

If I was taking over Penske, idealistically I'd dump both drivers. You might want to hang on to Mass though, if you can't secure 2 drivers who are better.

Yeah. I'd get rid of Maggiacomo for sure and try to see if you can put Schekter in one of the cars for next year.

Thanks guys!
Yeah, I'm gonna drop Jose whatshisname for sure. Not sure about Mass though. Too bad I have to wait for my budget, before I can make any plans for drivers. Scheckter sounds promising, but I don't if I'll be able to fund his drive. But I'll definitely try to sign a promising young driver for sure.

We're pleased with the two drivers we've signed. In Jabouille, we've got a driver who's feedback is second-to-none and is also able to help design parts of the car. In Arnoux, we've got a top driver who can call upon some natural racing ability to ensure that our season works out well. He cites the fact we've got a turbo car as the biggest reason for joining.
If we can at least score some points this season, we'll be quite pleased despite the fact that we're testing a lot of new innovations.

If for any reason you end up being disappointed in either of your drivers, Ligier will be more than happy to run one of them and loan Brambilla as a temporary replacement in return for a long-term deal for your engines.
