Piquet jr has been on fire lately. His latest win at Las Vegas this weekend was taken in style.

So there have been 2 phantom debris cautions and 1 legit debris caution so far. And all but like 10 people are a lap down. Classic.

Next year's cars did some testing on Wednesday at Talladega. Note the #12 car...
Speaking of 'Dega, thats this weekend, and Michael Waltrip is in this race, so that's at least one guaranteed big wreck.

I said to note the #12 car because it's only run one race this year -- when Penske ran Hornish in it at Kansas.

The checkers paintjob is so that it's more difficult to tell what has actually been done with the sides of the car unless you're an insider. Chevrolet did that when they launched the first pictures of the car.

That Penske has used on test-cars ever since they stopped running it in the cup series AFAIK. Nothing major with that.

That surely raises the chances of DTM running there. Well, if NASCAR and IndyCar don't want to race there, someone else has to, right? Although nothing's confirmed, of course.

Re: The National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing threa
Checkers or Wreckers, typical.
Kenseth wins with Gordon yoinking second. Gordon and Le Biff had a wild slide a lap apart in the last quarter of the race, that was nuts. Hamlin spinning himself trying to avoid the wreck is classic.

Leave it to Fat Tony and Michael Trip-Into-The-Wall to cause a huge wreck like that.
Not too disappointed, since Kenseth won and Kez has a pretty good points lead.

Just checking the NASCAR page on Wikipedia; his 2nd place finish today makes it 6 top 5's in the last 7 races for Jeff Gordon. If it wasn't for Chicago, he'd most likely be right up at the sharp end of the championship fight. Not bad, especially considering his awful start to the year.

He was running 4th at Chicago before he conked out, and probably had something for Kahne. You do the math there.

FINALLY! Speed will decide (most of) the field, not owner money. Thank God. It looks like NASCAR is ditching all the crap they rammed down our throats the past few years. Top 35 rule is gone, in season testing is back, and the Car of the Day After Tomorrow features less weight bigger tyres, more real grip and much less aero dependence. Will we see the hase dumped soon? Hopefully?

And Brad Daugherty thinks he won't ever come back. He's thinks jr will retire.

Ah, I always wondered who he was. Has he ever raced? Judging by the way he talks, I doubt it. I rank him as high (low) as Marty Smith, the man who reported Junior turned down an F1 ride a few years ago......

Sometimes he's correct on his hunches, he's better than Marty Smith anyway. Though that might not be much?

Ah, that makes some sense. I never watch the first few years of ESPN coverage, as I try to watch as little ESPN as possible. So when I started I was like "who is this scrub?" lol. I will say one thing about his hunch on junior, if you heard his in car audio after the wreck, you wouldn't be too surprised if he retires.

Crew Chief: "You alright buddy?"
Junior: "I don't know man, I....uh.....I feel......uh I feel weird.......I uh....I don't know."
Crew Chief: "Alright buddy, just relax and bring her home, you'll be okay."
Junior: "I don't know man....I uh.....I can't take too many more shots like that, ya know?"
Crew Chief: "Yeah I hear ya."
Admittedly it was in the heat of the moment, but he sounded in pain. Of course his sister says hes coming back this weekend? So who knows?
Other news: Denny "My parents named me a girls name" Hamlin wrecked in testing and has a concussion, but will race anyway.
Danica Patrick is in danger of losing GoDaddy sponsership according to the Indy Star newspaper. (Please God, make this happen)
And The trucks are alledgely going to have a race at Eldora Speedway next year. Which will be epic.

Never heard it used that way before over here although it makes sense. (Hamlins real name is James FWIW). I've met three or four Denny's in my life, all of which are female. Plus there was the lady on "Whose Line is it Anyway?" Denny Segel, was it?

Brad Daugherty was hired to be a "voice for the fans questions", but ever since he took the job, he started racing in late models. He went from being a total uninformed idiot to being a competent foil to Rusty Wallace. He owns the #47 car that Bobby Labonte currently drives -- and he clearly doesn't lack enthusiasm -- something Dale Jarrett and Andy Petree should take note of.

Denny is short for Dennis. Jimmy Spencer (when he activated Troll Mode) called him "Dennis" on his TV segment on SPEED a few years back.
More on Danica:
Associated Press wrote:Danica Patrick is still Go Daddy's girl, though she may not be featured in the company's Super Bowl spots for the first time since 2007. Go Daddy on Thursday announced it had signed New York agency Deutsch Inc. to produce its two 30-second Super Bowl spots, the first time the website domain provider has gone outside for the ads it has done itself since 2005. "We love Danica, our relationship is perfectly fine," [Barb Rechterman, chief marketing officer] said. "Danica, for us, is a valued asset and we have her for the foreseeable future. We are very excited for her upcoming first full season in the Sprint Cup Series, and Go Daddy is looking forward to many more years together with her." Rechterman said Go Daddy is interested in discussing opportunities with Patrick for the Indianapolis 500 next season. Patrick has said she'd like to run that race if she can partner with a team that gives her a chance to win. But Rechterman doesn't know if that means Patrick will kick off the year with a spot in the Super Bowl, which is Feb. 3 in New Orleans.

3 cautions in the spring race at Kansas.
--Repave--
16 cautions this past weekend. I was expecting, rather hoping, Truex would Challenge for the win, but Kenseth just drove away.
I see it as a two man race for the championship right now, I don't think Hamlin is gonna be able to rebound enough to take the championship, unless something catastrophic happens to Kez and Jimmie.

ALSO: when are Chevy going to reveal their new nascar design? i recall someone saying before the end of the season, but so far all we have is Tony Stewart's new livery on the current template. it would be funny if they found a loophole in the new "win on sunday, buy on monday" rules and came up with another "Aerocoupe" body like back in the 80's. that thing in buick and chevy form was unstoppable.
one last thing.... any word on Dodge? or are they still leaving?
