Shadaza, any chance you could give me a list of riders Alitalia haven't used so far this season? I might release any I don't see having a future at the team.

That's fine then, Montella and Moteverdi are definitely going to get run outs as the season goes along so no scope for any rider releases.

Round 4 Brugge-Oudenaarde
The 250km solo stage introduces cobblestones to the tour and what a huge impact it made on the race. Numerous riders fell, others were struck by punctures and the lap nature of the final section led to many riders being flagged and forced to call it a day.
Of the 126 riders only 73 finished.
The cobble stones coupled with short steep hills lead to a very large field spread where it was rare for groups to include more than 10 riders.
Eventually 17 riders went in to the final lap with a shot of victory.

Foster's Terry Wright pulled off an excellent break within the last 20km of the stage to take victory after falling just short of victory in San Remo using the same trick. Wright owes a lot of his success to the riders he spent the last half of the stage with, who happen to fill the next seven spots in the top 10. Molina finally takes Fantomette's first points finish of the season whilst Jaywick takes a deserved 3rd place, probably being the rider that worked the hardest to catch the break away. Marco Venerdi in 4th did very little to help catch the field in front, that is explained by the fact that team leader Vache was in the front group, however once it became clear that the front group would not take victory, Venerdi took on the role of lead CBR rider.
Oosterling did very well to finish 5th as he had suffered a puncture on the 3rd section of cobbles whislt John Vonn and Abraham Simon had quiet runs to 6th and 8th, solid runs as expected of them from their respective teams. Mika Pyora in 7th was not Alitalia's team leader, that went to Xavier de Vos. Along with Le Clerg Pyora was tasked of carrying the team leader but for whatever reason de Vos could not keep up and Pyora and Le Clerq abandoned him to make their own pursuit on the points table.
9th through to 14th and Vache in 17th were the riders that first broke forward when the cobbles started and by lap 2 they had such a big lead it looked like they would be dead cert' for victory. However they did not work together well at all and pushed each other so hard that they along with the flat specialist riders that broke away at the start of the stage, fell away one by one until Bart Bouwer was alone at the front, the mess did not work and eventually they all compressed back together exhausted whilst the likes of Terry Wright caught up.
A thought has to be spared for Nigel Roberts, the Firehawk rider was one of the favourites for victory when he fell off his bike just before the half way mark. The rest of the Firehawk team exhausted themselves trying to help Roberts and the Brit managed to nearly overturn a 20 minute deficit and just caught sight of the tail end of the point runners by the end of the stage.

Team CIP took the victory. Alitalia match their worst result of they year with 2nd place. Foster's, the team with the stage winner, come home in 3rd ahead of Lansvale and Fantomette, both of whom pulling off their best performances of the season so far.
Three teams failed to get the minimum of 3 riders to the finish to be classified. Firehawk's game plan failed when Roberts fell and the riders all fell away after helping him recover whilst Battery Energy and Twining's frankly sucked

Re: F1 Rejects Does:The Tour de France! Round 4 Flanders

As you would expect with a different top 5 at each event the leader board is a little jittery. None of the points scorers in Flanders had scored in any of the other events, so that is 10 more names to add to the points board!
All teams have now at least scored some points.
Here is the leader-board.
1.Hitachi Pro Tour 416
2.Alitalia Parmalat Bianchi 228
3.Fosters Good Cycle 219
4.Performance and Cocktails Racing 151
5.Team CIP 146
6.NSA Racing Team 131
7.Cycling Circus 129
8.Samsung Skoda Firehawk 108
=9.Minardi 93
=9.Twinings Earl Grey Cycling Team 93
11.United Boxtel Cycling Team 89
12.Equipe Fantomette 80
13.Credit Bancarotto 67
14.Battery Energy 39
15.Lansvale Smash Repairs 16
16.Tiger Cylcing Team 5
The next round is the GP al Pais Vasco, The Tour of the Basque. It is mostly hill stages with the odd mountain grade climb. The final stage of the short 6 stage tour is an 18km hill time trial. Each team may enter 8 riders.

To all those expecting Mountains in the Basque tour I apologise
I got it mixed with the Catalunya tour.
Instead it is 4 regular hill stages, 1 flat and one hilly time trial.

And continuing with my trend of being too lazy to create my own riders, we'd like to know if there's any riders on the free market we can snare.
