F1Rejects.com GPM2 mod!

Post by Nuppiz »

Decided to make an own topic for this, as there'll be quite much planning to do and that you are kept up to date on my progress. :)

Here's what I've put together so far:
F1Rejects team:

Drivers:

Unfortunately I'll be away for the rest of the week, so I won't be able to continue this until next Sunday or so. But if you have any ideas, post them here!

That's a bucket full o' win.

HWNSNBM is now better than Senna and Schumacher.
Better than 'Tour in a suit case' Takagi.

Yeah, made him the best for his legendariness :D . The Life engine is also now about like what Renault '96 was, do you want me to make it a crap engine or a super one?

Well, we want F1 Rejects-Life to dominate, so I 'spose keep it as Renault '96.

Team logos are pretty small, only 32x32. I added you on MSN, but as I said in the first post I'm AFK until Sunday, starting tomorrow (Thursday) so I won't be modding this until then. :)

Just downloaded GPM2...epic game! I can finally play as Forti!
But I think its not quite right...I'm managing Forti with Baoder and Sospiri as drivers, and currently they are 1st and 2nd in the race!!!!
Edit: NOOOOO!!! Badoer's engine blew up while he was leading!
2nd Edit: NOOOOO!! Sospiri's engine blew up too!!! :xDamn engines...

And so, history repeats itself for poor old Luca...still no points thanks to a technical failure...

Did you use team orders for that? Because they cause almost certain retirements. All the glitches are explained here - http://forum.gpm2world.com/. Nuppiz is one of the most valuable members. I have 8 posts. Ah well.

Yes. Badoer was 'Step On It' and Sospiri 'Block Cars Behind'. And the technical failures (of which there are plenty) always seem to happen to Sospiri...
But on the bright side, in the last 3 races Sospiri came 2nd, DNF and 1st! Shoulda been 1st, 2nd, 1st, but ran out of fuel at the end of the last lap and then had another engine blow

It's almost impossible to get a doctor here at the moment with all this swine flu debacle. Besides, you were in an university whilst I'm in a high school, right? I'm not exactly in the mood of writing 100-page essays...

Swine flu came and left about two months ago... now it's just a convenient excuse to miss class. And my homework's not doing itself...

I've just downloaded and played GPM2, and rather than start a new thread or clutter up the GPM2World site, I thought I might as well post my noob questions here.

So, I played a season in the 97 Mod as Lola, running out of cash a couple of races into 1998, so -
1. How do I make money? I hired new commercial staff and assigned them to try and woo sponsers, but the only attention I had was from the cheap ones, and I ended up with less than £1,000,000 with my car and overalls almost completely covered

2. Is there any way of getting new tech other than stealing?

3. Considering that I download and use the perfect set ups, is there any point to testing?

4. What's up with Monza? It was my only double Qualifying of the year, and Rossett scored 2 points for 5th!

Cheers

1. You need results, too, to get the sponsors convinced. Which is a vicious circle considering that you need the money to make the results...
What I can tell you is that you can save a lot of money by manually replacing only the most worn parts instead of just clicking "Refit all worn parts". Parts should be replaced when they are at about 60% of their durability. You can view the percentage by clicking "Advice" where te Chief Mechanic will tell you the most worn parts (The parts in wrost condition are blah blah blah...). Also, cut down your staff to a bare minimum (20 assistants each).

2. Under Design->Manufacturing you can assign your engineers' time to develop new parts. But you'll have to pay for the hiring of suitable facilities (unless you build the Manufacturing Unit (internals) and Carbon Fibre Construction Unit (externals). Also, your engineers can only develop one type of a part once a year (apart from the Stepped Bottom, which can be fully upgraded during the same year). So if your engineers develop a new Gear Box, you can't start a new Gear Box project until the next season, even if you steal a better one in the meantime.

3. Testing "Car Performance" may increase car performance, "Car Improvements" helps adapt newly acquired parts to the car (less retirements), "Driver Skill" may increase the driver's Quickness (Qu), and "Full Race Distance" may increase the driver's Stamina. So testing is still useful even with the perfect setups.

4. The player always fares better at some tracks and worse at others. That's a fact.

The Monza thing I get completely...with the original game (1996) as Forti (albeit 1997 in-game time) I scored a 1-2 with David Coulthard and Vincenzo Sospiri. And apart from another win and second by Sospiri, it was the only finish I managed all year

Hey Nuppiz I love the mod but I have one question
In the season I'm doing so far Liuzzi has been outperforming the car and Bourdais has well been... a muppet apart from Spa which he won. Well at Estoril qualy with the same risks, same fuel and new tyres please explain how Bourdais can be 5.8 (yes 5.8) seconds off Liuzzi's pace?

He could have been stuck in traffic, or if it was wet and Liuzzi has 5 starts for WW and Bourdais only 1 star could be contributing factors. Also, if you gave them different setups, that would affect laptime too.

And Nuppiz, we have a big problem.
The F1 Rejects Mod skips every second round. For example, the results for Round 2 were duplicated for Round 3 and the game skipped to Round 4. It happened again, so Round 4's results have also been assigned to Round 5, and the game has advanced me onto Round 6 straight after Round 4.
Unless you can figure out a fix for it the F1 Rejects Winter Series is going to have to be canned :?

It was in the dry and Liuzzi was in traffic for the last bit of the lap. I sent Bourdais out on another run (Both were in clear air) and he did almost exactly the same time as he did on his first run. They were both on perfect setups for Estoril too That's what I found puzzling

Actually I got an even bigger problem. Everytime I try to do the Estoril Race GPM2 always crashes as soon as I click ok after it finishes showing the results in that scroll scene (Before the screen with the poduim celebrations). Any solutions?

Have you tried that new config file I supplied? You have to start a new game, then load the updated config file to make it work (at least it worked on me)
