Random Thoughts

Post by shinji »

It might be because I'm in Transition Year, but recently I've been having random thoughts about F1.

Some examples:

Brum should be in F1.

The Bowie song Win should be the F1 anthem. Listen to them lyrics!

There are others, but I won't inundate my own post. Any one have anything that pops in to their head for no reason?

When is the first anniversary of the announcement of the Danny Ongais reject profile?

He would at least beat Badoer.

Points should be awarded for every on-track pass made. That would eradicate the Trulli Train once and for all :P

Yes, brilliant idea. So we will see every team having their drivers pass each other, always a bit away from the next team, to raise their point level to OVER 9000! Yes, this would be very wise.

Oh, and by the way, I really think your avatar is a nice idea, but not quite complete in warping the childish image. Try something like this:

Not saying it would be clever. But it WOULD increase on-track overtaking, just in a perverted and easily abused way...

We should get back the Nordschleife, and the Pescara circuit if possible.

The old spa + aerodyanmics that allow cars to follow closely = I think I'd need some paper towels to clean up the mess

Shame it'll never happen

If Formula Rejects got going, we would already have the first 3 on the calendar :D

Also already on the Formula Rejects calendar, only the full 24 Hours  (in that configuration too!)

okay, shame on me for not knowing that, but then make 25 of that, because for the 24 hours we need reject-sportscars, just like the 25 hours of spa is a beetle race!!

Onother one: assuming that the world will end in 2012 (i don't worry because busted have been to the year 3000 :D ) how will the last formula one season be? What and who will survive after 2012?

Well, if some people survive like in the film, then it won't be the last F1 campaign. One main surviver would be Barrichello  , and Hamilton, Alonso, Kubica, Kovalainen, Kobayashi and, of course, HWNSNBM  Other survivers from the management part would be Ecclestone, Mosley, Vatanen, Briatore, Williams, Dennis, Gascoyne and Sauber.

Well, it was the day Button's switch to McLaren was announced, and the day Donnington went into Administration.

Wow! I was listening to a Son of Dork (the band James formed after leaving Busted) album this morning, as it happens (the first one - I have no idea if there are any others)...

Does anyone like the look of the high airbox, snowplough snout mid 70's F1 cars?

Or, for that matter, the tea-tray front wing?

Even a hideous F1 car never looks too horrible from the front, but even a front three quarters view can't save these cars.
I know the shapes they teach us about in fluid mechanics are hardly "pretty", but these cars weren't engineered - they were hammered together by people who cribbed NACA aerofoil tables from 1932...Boundary layer flow, my a**!!

Why the need for front wings, the cause of all the "turbulent air" that apparently causes the lack of overtaking.

Modern F1s would be nothing without front-wings. We would need to return to the unsafe ground-effects era...

so we need to then keep the wings but make them the same width as the rear wing?

Not exactly. We wouldn't need to remove wings at all, just make it less aerodynamic, but by making it flatter (because from some angles the actual cars look weird, and they would look weird from all angles if we reduced front wings's size).

Geez...What I thought I'd never see...I'm not surprised everyone hated him, he left Holand's reputation very low indeed (even worse when he drove for Spyker).
