Drive, the detour is a bit of a risk. This is why we took the Washington flight you see is because the driving distance is shorter than Philadelphia or New York which force the plane to be a certainly shorter path given drive time from NYC and Philly to Indianapolis. I just hope we see Takuma Sato in Indianapolis.

We'll take the flight to Indianapolis. But...we have to use a...bus?! And even worse, a bike?! We are rich, we shouldn't be required to use a poor man's Harley Davidson. A bus, okay. There are lots of unwashed proles there, but we're still getting driven. But a bike? Well, we'll take the bus first, then pay someone to use the bike for us. We've got arab money after all!

Most teams have decided to scramble for the flights and all managed to get on their desired connecting flight no problem, though for 4 of the teams. Fire Emblem, Garuda, Mercosul and Restov they decided to avoid the unknown challenge and drive all the way, a lengthy journey and a big gamble.

Despite the New York teams being the first to reach the United States, it was those that picked the closer to Indianapolis Washington that got the advantage as 5:20PM local time the Washington flight landed and the Jalhay Giants and the Canadian Blondes hit the detour first.

"Bus and Bike, using public transport, make your way to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, once there cycle a lap of the track and head to the Pitstop!"

"Bike and Bus, using the bicycles provided, cycle to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, once there a shuttle bus will take around a lap of the track, once complete head to the pitstop!"

The Giants were first out the airport and wasted no time by jumping on the bikes, Remi and Antoine are used to racing bicycles and pedal off right away. Jeremey and Ed could tell right away they wouldn't be able to cycle as fast as the Giants, so they decided to make their way to the bus stop.

Despite the lengthy difficult race day, the Giants made it to the speedway in an hour flat, poor Ed and Jeremy were still busy finding their way around the not so excellent Indiana public transport, the Giants have done enough and once they see the circuit is empty, party like crazy on the shuttle bus, they know they beat New York and Philladelphia. Once they get to the mat, Tony Kanaan is there to greet them, the latest Indy 500 winner is there with a big smile on his face.

20 minutes after the Washington flight landed, the New York flight arrived containing the Greats and the RAGS team. Both of them chose not to cycle all the way to the circuit, preferring instead to take the bus. This meant the Canadian Blondes managed a comfortable 2nd place, 23 minutes behind the Giants.

The Greats and RAGS both took the same busses to the circuit, but while the siblings had no trouble jumping on their bikes and racing to 3rd place, the fine Arabian Gentlemen had an argument with the organisers about lowering themselves to bicycles, the RAGS team caved in, tried their best not to look silly on the bikes finishing 4th.

Samurai Rockets were very lucky to make the first Philadelphia connecting flight, if Garuda had attempted to make the flight the Rockets would have to have taken a later flight or driven. But they made it home in 5th place, just 40 minutes ahead of Fire Emblem, who decided to drive in. Fire Emblem may be 6th but they at least have a car ready for the next leg should they need it.

The battle to avoid last place was intense, 3 teams left by car all the way from Philadelphia and drove in to the early hours of the morning to reach Indianapolis.
Despite not being the first team out of the airport, Restov Racing managed to follow Semangat Garuda into the car park and narrowly beat them in a desperate footrace, to their relief they finished 7th and 8th. A few minutes later Equipe Mercosul arrived. Nestor and Cristina looked distraught as they saw that Restov and Garuda were just ahead of them, they knew they were almost certainly last.

However much to their delight, this was a non-elimination leg. Unfortunately as a penalty, all their possessions were taken, meaning of the bottom 3 teams, they are the only one now without a car!

I suspected this would happen that the last three lag well behind me. If took the flight, we might have won. However this is just a fun journey for us and we did get to see Takuma-sama!

Well, as soon as we saw "bike", we knew we'd have an advantage. One does not simply be Belgian and not be ridiculously fast on a bicycle. But first, we needed the flight, and we took into account the time of the flight and the distance to Indianapolis, and the Washington flight looked like the best bet.

My nitpicking skills have uncovered a minor problem with the Heathrow of the race leg. One cannot book an Aegean or Jet Airways codeshare trans-atlantic flight from Heathrow, so the flight numbers would actually be US Airways US729 for LHR-PHL, and United Airlines UA919 from LHR-IAD. Both LHR-JFK flights are also codeshares, with the actual numbers being Delta Airlines DL4 for the Air France flight, and American Airlines AA101 for the BA flight out of Heathrow.

To all teams, I apologise for the lack of updates.

I feel I may have to cancel the series, coming up with the initial leg was fairly easy, but thinking up suitable challenges to fit each country/city is a very difficult task that I greatly underestimated.

The next leg is/was intended to head to Las Vegas, so if anybody has some Vegas themed ideas they would be welcome.
But I wouldn't be too hopeful of the 2nd leg anytime soon.
