During the BBC sports bulletins last night Webbos retirement was not mentioned once. I am choosing to blame Jonathan Legard for this as he was the one presenting it.

Oh no. Well at least we know he won't be commentating on F1 anymore. I never paid much attention to him in 09-10 (I was 12-13 years old at the time) But reviewing the 2010 videos i have to admit he was shocking

In terms of how they think Susie Wolff is the next thing for Female Motorsports when there are so much better Women Drivers (Alice Powell if anyone bothers to consider her or Simona de Silvestro who is overdue a Podium Finish) Andrew Benson needs to go asap because quite literally a Monkey could write a better piece of F1 news better than him. You only need to look at the comments below to find out how bad it is.

Having read the piece I think both the journalist and the driver herself are picking the bones from the test trying to justify the performance. Citing wind speeds, fuel loads, blah blah and so on. The fact is if she'd been good enough the times would've been there for all to see. To be fair, irrespective of her sex*, the driver is 30 years old and thats quite old to be trying to break into F1 nowadays.

A new low for Benson. Who would have thought that was possible. That someone like this (and Phil McNulty, his equivalent for football, and nearly as bad) can be employed as lead writer tells you all you need to know about the current state of BBC's Sport coverage for anything other than Tennis or Athletics.

I think that pretty much anyone here would be an improvement. Even the spambots make sense about twice a year, which is more than Benson can manage.

Your metaphors are sometimes really funny. You said how Kobayashi "played skittles with the pitcrew" in Britain last year. You also have a good recall of data and statistics.

Because it's not about a woman's F1 abilities. That was not intending to be sexist.

She has a habit of saying "well" or "so" to start most or all sentences when she takes over the programme.

She's got better over the year. At the start, she used to interrupt Coulthard answering a question to ask him another one. Seemed a bit awkward, especially when she was so comfortable with presenting the MotoGP.

I might sound like a broken record, but I have felt all year that she is out of her element (and she wasn't particularly good in her previous element, either).
To me at least, she comes across as stuck-up, posh and snobby and frequently clueless. She seems to put too much care in choosing the right boots
for the day, than actually learning something about the sport. To put it short, I think she's boring.
And I hope they get rid of her for next year.

Lee McKenzie on the other hand, total opposite to Suzi if you ask me. BBC should promote her to the leading host role.
She is more down-to-earth, more knowledgeable, kinder, prettier, wittier, younger, funnier, and has been with the BBC F1 team for a much longer period.
And those eyes, that smile, that accent. Yes, I'm smitten. And I hear some drivers are, too.

Frankly, I have absolutely no idea why Suzi Perry got the job over Lee McKenzie in the first place. She did a good job subbing for Jake Humphrey that one time.

No, she made several noises early on expressing her disappointment at missing out I believe. The Beeb probably couldn't find a suitable replacement for her, so hired ''experienced'' perry instead.

Can someone fire Andrew Benson now?

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/formula1/23837726

More British bias by saying that Hamilton has a chance of the title being 58 points behind while Raikkonen who's only a further 5 points back is out of the hunt.

I'd say that the chances of both of those drivers taking the title would be reducing as time passes - yes, Kimi's retirement does put him that little bit further back, but the difference between 58 and 63 points back is not that much when the overall gap is considered. Alonso may be ahead of those drivers but is perhaps flagging a little - perhaps not surprising when you consider that he's had to push extremely hard for several seasons in a row now - whilst unfortunately the E21 is not always as consistent as Kimi is and the W04, whilst proving to be much more competitive than most would have expected this time last year, is still not on the same level as the RB9.

I suppose that the only benefit Hamilton has is that, in a lot of ways, the fact that he is still mathematically in the title battle is probably a major psychological boost that he probably did not expect to have, which might explain why he is perhaps much more bullish that the other two drivers. Still, realistically I would say that Kimi is still as much in the title race as he is, although both of them are going to be soon reaching the point where they are no longer in contention if Vettel continues to open up that gap in the WDC.
