Does that mean we'll end up having a corner named after Coletti too? Maybe it'll be corner 15 which is the chicane after the swimming pool

La Piscine is the whole complex. starting at Louis Chiron and ends before Rascasse. Neither turn 14 and 15 seem to have a proper name although you could say La Piscine for corner 14.

There are two of them. The one you speak is Mirabeau Haut.

They are roughly translated by up (haut) and down (bas)

GP2 has just announced that their current Dallara's life will be extended till 2016, thus breaking the three-year cycle.

That makes quite a bit of sense, financially speaking. Plus, I'm quite partial to the current shape anyway, so it's nice we get to keep it.

GP2's not really gonna make the move to a F1-spec "power unit" anyway, so it might as well stick with the package.

As you said, no need to change it. I don't think they changed the chassis when the F1 regs were changed in '09, did they? If so, did I not hear about it?

Financially speaking it's a good move, as GP2 needed to cut its costs, or we were going to see more teams leave the sport. Competitively, there's a good chance that over the course of the next three-year cycle Formula Renault 3.5 will become decisively faster and more F1-relevant (for example, Formula Renault 3.5 has DRS) than GP2, which could result in a talent-drain from GP2, leaving it a series for rubbish pay drivers (which it is partly on the way to being). Hopefully the reduction in costs will be passed on to the drivers, but I think it will remain in the teams' pockets.

Thinking cost-wise, they should ditch at least Malaysia and Singapore races. Although they need to fly to Abu Dhabi and Bahrain, those are still a bit nearer to the team bases. So the calendar would be something like this:

Bahrain
Barcelona/Valencia
Monaco
Silverstone
Hockenheim/Nürburgring
Hungaroring
Sochi (?)
Spa
Monza
Abu Dhabi

That's 10 possible races, maybe they would need a race without F1 at some point. There are few European tracks where they can have it. Could make sense if GP3 is there as well, instead of GP3 being only event as I think it was in Valencia last weekend (it was free to go to watch races AFAIK)

That would make sense, Formula Renault 3.5 definitely used to offer free tickets (I can't recall if they're still free).

Aaargh, two whole months between Monza and Abu Dhabi...

We'd need a tense championship situation in F1 every year to prevent mE from falling asleep between September and November..

If it matters, Crestani's been redrafted into the Lazarus lineup in replacement of Giovesi. I heard there would be doubts Frijns could afford to stay with Hilmer, but I guess that's been sorted out.

I hope they've swapped their GP2 and Auto GP duties. Giovesi is younger and has more potential.

Is Marcus Ericsson cursed? If he doesn't screw up, someone else does it for him. He has eight points from two pole positions and nothing else (although he will get a couple of points if Lancaster and Leimer are penalized). He made a mistake at the start but I thought the penalty was too harsh, as the only ones who lost a position were Ericsson and Nasr (who rejoined unsafely, receiving no penalty for it).

The race seemed a bit boring at first with Bird clearly faster than everyone else. However, the last few laps were amazing, especially the battle for third place.

EDIT: There was a funny glitch in the broadcast. Buxton could be seen interviewing the top three finishers but one couldn't hear what he was saying, only the champagne music by Bizet.

Palmer did well to grab a final 6th place. Felt sorry for Coletti at the end, getting punted off on the last lap when fighting for 3rd.

GP3 race has just seen a big crash between Fumanelli and Kujala at becketts corner. Fumanelli got twitchy and Kujala rode over the back, rolled the car and ended up in the barrier upside down. Both drivers are ok which is good to see.

I disagree, Ericsson's overzealous action nearly caused a big pile up, Nasr had nowhere to go and showed excellent car control to avoid a potential spin and big pile up.

Arden had a great strategy by using Cecotto to slow up the field for Mitch Evans, only for Evans to goof it by speeding in the pitlane, he may have been on for a victory!

He knew at the time; he had to check whether Sam Bird's was working too.

Anyway, as you can imagine I'm delighted with Dillmann on the podium. Long overdue this season, especially after Barcelona.

Rejectful stewarding yet again. Leimer has been given a ten-place grid penalty for the sprint race after crashing with Coletti (not a time penalty as in most cases). This means that Leimer is allowed to keep his result from Saturday, gaining one position by crashing into Coletti and taking him out of the race.

Even more ridiculous: Kujala has been banned from the GP3 sprint race. At most, he should have received a grid penalty. But what can you expect, GP2 and GP3 have the same stewards and Cecotto was already banned for what wasn't even his worst incident this season.

Both silly penalties, especially Kujala's. He had nowhere to go. Fumanelli got loose going through Becketts and because Kujala was so close, there was nothing he could do.

And Canamasas decides being a lap down on Palmer still gives him the right to defend, thus taking an impressive Palmer out of the race. As I speak, he's ended up with a 10-second stop-go. MORE dreadful stewarding.

A complete disgrace of stewarding. No blue flags shown at all for Canamasas lap after lap followed by an insane collision and pointless penalty. Canamasas should have ended up with a serious penalty for the next race, possibly even an exclusion. That would be ludicrous defending even if it was for position, from a lap down it just defies belief.

On a positive note, I never would have guessed Jon Lancaster was capable for a race win, he has been improving so much in GP2, I also love seeing Haryanto on the podium :D.

What a joke. This is just ridiculous.

Canamasas got away with murder. The amount of times he's done something silly and pretty much got away with it is stunning; stop-go penalties are not punishments when you're almost last. I've never seen anyone drive with such little respect for other drivers.
