FI seemed to be awfully quick at blaming this on di Resta. Makes you wonder if it had anything to do with the public blame game atmosphere of that side of the garage.

I don't think PDR will race for FI next year. Whether it will be Paul who decides not to continue with them, or FI letting him go for another driver, I don't know.
But it just feels like he won't be there next year. The atmosphere is just strange between driver/team.

The team appear to be very worried about the tyres - they were warning him that there were signs of cuts on the left rear tyre of his car, so he seems to have been somewhat marginal on his tyres as well.

That was a particularly scary incident, since Kimi was actually struck by some of the debris from Vergne's tyre blowout. Designed degradation is one thing, but potential tyre failures is another thing entirely, especially if it is now having a potentially serious impact on safety.

Yes, but if you want deliberately fragile, high-wearing tires, then surely there's a greater risk that some track somewhere will have an unexpected quirk that could cause something like this than if you build the tire to the most durable specification you reasonably can for the same level of grip?

Tyres wearing differently and changing strategies and forcing pit stops is one thing, but exploding like they did for Vergne and potentially injuring Kimi is another. It's a bad thing to see.
Paul not showing up for the conference/interview is one thing, and now this...

Probably. It will only result in more tyre failures.

Guiterrez's car suffers a case of carbon fiber shredding itself. Or another failure for him.
