IBR to leave Japan

Il Barone Rampante, owner of both the GT500 Zuken ENEOS and GT300 Mitsubishi Motors teams, has elected to call it quits at the end of the current Super GT campaign, electing to focus on their European activities in the meantime.

The former F1 constructor has struggled for success in the early part of the new millenium, and their Super GT form was only reasonable at best, picking up a single victory this season in the GT300 class with Marco Apicella and Norberto Taniguchi.

This means all their current drivers - André Lotterer, Benoît Tréluyer, Apicella and Taniguchi will also have to find seats elsewhere for next season.
