Points on Saturday's
Here's how the championship would look if points were awarded on Saturday's not Sunday's
Note: This includes Penalties such as Di Resta's Exclusion from 5th in Great Britain
Hamilton 158
Vettel 158
Rosberg 133
Webber 91
Alonso 87
Raikkonen 68
Massa 60
Grosjean 36
Sutil 28
Ricciardo 24
Button 17
Bottas 15
Di Resta 13
Perez 12
Vergne 7
Hulkenberg 4
Maldonado 0
Gutierrez 0
Van der Garde 0
Pic 0
Bianchi 0
Chilton 0
Hamilton and Vettel would be on 158 points each both with 3 poles but with more 2nd places Hamilton would be just ahead while Rosberg would be 3rd. Bottas's incredible Canada efforts would put him ahead of Di Resta in the Superior Force India and also Perez while Van der Garde would head Division 3 due to his Q2 appearance in Monaco.
Mercedes 291
Red Bull 224
Ferrari 147
Lotus 104
Force India 41
Toro Rosso 31
Mclaren 29
Williams 15
Sauber 4
Caterham 0
Marussia 0
Mercedes would be cruising at the moment on 291 points which goes to show their qualifying speed. Red Bull would be on 224 with Ferrari and Lotus in a distant 3rd and 4th. Mclaren thanks mostly to Daniel Ricciardo's efforts would be behind Toro Rosso in the WCC which sums up their season. Williams would be 8th miles ahead of Sauber thanks to Bottas in Canada

Thought this was about awarding points for pole, came in for an argument.

In my opinion, awarding points for pole and fastest lap is a good idea, either four points for pole and two points for fastest lap (like in GP2 and GP3) or two points for pole and one for fastest lap. This way, good performance at different points of the weekend would be rewarded, with the race still being clearly more important. However, I would allow anyone to score the points for fastest lap, not just the drivers in the top 10.
The point(s) for fastest lap would make the end of the race more interesting, with everyone trying to score some crucial points. The same applies to qualifying; they could change Q3 to a session with everyone doing one lap, increasing the importance of the driver's skills instead of the car. The running order could be decided based on Q2.

My counterargument is simple: I don't want to have the world championship won on Saturday.

Mine: This alternate championship would suggest who was the king of qualifying in each year. I'm here to help Kimi-ICE if you need it.

I think someone already did an alternate championship like this before...

No No it will be confusing. Just stick with the results when grid penalties have been handed out. Also put in the 1st 2nd's and 3rd's too
Re: Points on Saturday's
I did a championship like this some time ago. Chris Amon was the 1968 World Champion and Ronnie Peterson won in 1973, so go figure.
