Just so everyone knows, Nicchi's seat is basically open to any driver with experience. I don't want rookies. Otherwise if I can't find a replacement she'll be kept in the car.

Josh Carlisle, after being unceremoniously dumped by Falik Arrows in F2RWRS is very interested in the drive.

Stewards' report
Scott Marsden has been given 4 penalty points for colliding with Natsuki Yaname in Heat A.
Lukas Zuber has been given 5 penalty points for being one of the main triggers in the pitlane pileup in Heat A.
Alberto Cara and Marcos Marcia have been given 4 penalty points for dangerous driving on the pitlane in Heat A.
Salvatore Miccoli, Alessandro Lucarelli, Yui Megumi and Julia Schilling have been given 2 penalty points for collisions in the pitlane in Heat A.
Serge Blanco has been given 3 penalty points for his collisions with Benôit Voeckler and Akira Yamamura in Heat B.
Akira Yamamura has been given 4 penalty points for his collsisons on the pitlane with Ashley Lilly and Terry Hawkin in Heat B.
Adélaidé Voeckler has been given 6 for ignoring yellow flags and thus colliding with Karl van der Zwaart in Heat B.
Penalty standings:
Adélaidé Voeckler 6
Lukas Zuber 5
Scott Marsden 4
Alberto Cara 4
Marcos Marcia 4
Akira Yamamura 4
Serge Blanco 3
Salvatore Miccoli 2
Alessandro Lucarelli 2
Yui Megumi 2
Julia Schilling 2
30 points lead to a one-race long ban.
Doctor's report
As a precaution, Adélaidé Voeckler and Karl van der Zwaart are not allowed to take part in tomorrow's final despite technically qualifying for it. Both should be fit for the next round in Mexico, though. Same applies for Katie Lea Winter, but she did not qualify for the final. All other drivers involved in serious accidents today are uninjured.
With this much attrition, we have to look for the qualifiers for the final based on how many laps the retired drivers completed. From Heat A, the top 15 qualify, so Quentin Reatherson is the last driver to continue from this heat. From Heat B, the top 15 with the exception of van der Zwaart and A. Voeckler qualify, so Nobuo Takahashi is the last driver to continue from this heat.

Renaldi Blames Rain for Exit
Italian rookie Silvia Renaldi blamed the rain for her early exit in the first heat of the IFRC round in Penrith. Renaldi, who did not compete in the IFRC's predecessor series, was not expecting a huge result entering the race. She did, however, take a risk and went an extra lap on slick tires after rain hit. Renaldi led for a short while due to a vast majority of the field pitting, but crashed when she entered the pitlane.
"I think I hit a really wet patch. I just lost it and hit the pit wall..." Renaldi told reporters. "Its a big shame because of all the Holden people here... I'm not hurt so that's positive, Emma [Kickert] and I were both fast, so lets hope for better things tomorrow."
Renaldi and teammate Emma Kickert will both participate in the final.
Clockwork Racing Blames Onboard Computer for Double-DNF in Heats
Clockwork Racing's debut was predictably lamentable, despite Matt Brinson performing well in heat 1 until he crashed in the pitlane. The team, however, refused to blame Brinson for his exit from Heat 1. The team's other driver, Katie-Lea Winter, crashed in Heat 2 from what appeared to be a brake failure. According to Clockwork Racing, the reason both cars crashed out of their respective heats was; "someone made the computers run the 'ARCA' script once the brakes were applied, making all of our computers experience the Blue Screen of Death... yes, even the ones in the car".
The team insisted that Brinson would be ready for the final and that their pitlane computers would have Windows 3.1 reinstalled in time for the race.

Yes they do. And I decided yesterday that the top 8 (in the heats)/top 10 (in the final) cars will always score their allocated points, regardless of completing 90% of the race or not.

Alessandro Linari wrote:The performance was not at the level we had hoped. Salvatore was fast, but he was making too many errors. I'll give him it for now, he is a rookie to this series and is still at the ripe age of 19. But we'll need to make sure those incidents are ironed out if he wants to convert his natural talent into a championship challenge.
Perhaps we were a little lucky with retirements and so on, but to win the feature race is still a good result. Marco knew going into this year he was under immense pressure, given he was defeated by his rookie team-mate last year. To get a feature race win here at the first weekend of the season will boost his confidence massively.
As for the Alitalia Juniores Squadra as a whole - Alessandro Lucarelli showed great pace all weekend, and was unlucky to get caught out in the pile-up in the feature race. He certainly looked quick enough to bring the car home on the podium, if not with a victory. De Friis weren't too happy when we withdrew Pazzini from them pre-season, but I think all will be forgiven after this weekend!

Doctor's report
Nada.
Once again there were less than 28 finishers overall, so we'll have to look at who completed the most laps before retiring. As it turns out the cutoff is at half distance, so from Heat A the top 16 advance, while from Heat B the top 12 advance to the final.

That was insanely slow for Dorien! Well, at least she hasn't crashed in to someone... yet.

I didn't really appreciate that. Other than that, all I can really say is that we have something to build on for the next race.

So, for the second weekend in a row, the merry-go-round makes it into the final while Melrose doesn't...

It's a very good thing John Zimmer isn't in Mexico at the moment

I was expecting a Miccoli vs Hawkin showdown all year long. But they've not even made the Final this time! Troubling stuff. But hey, both Voecklers made it to the final! Woohoo!

Stramala, you may have a challenge from the RTS drivers on your hands. Dorval and Marcia got themselves some wheels so far, and at this rate we got something for the IBR Juggernaut.

The series currently has three very fast drivers: Salvatore Miccoli, Terry Hawkin and Alessandro Lucarelli. However, one of them tends to crash into pretty much everything (Miccoli), one's car keeps breaking down (Hawkin) and one is getting caught into trouble through no fault of his own (Lucarelli).

I am incredibly surprised by Lucarelli's speed. He's on the verge of saving his career here. Before Pazzini got a last minute call to join MRT and Lucarelli took Pazzo's place at De Friis, he was about to drop out of racing completely. Now he looks fast enough to challenge for the title. What a difference a few months make!
