Really? Because the way it is now, it's actually theoretically possible to overtake there.
But now it is impossible to make a crash spectacular e.g. Kobayashi in quali in 2011 or Raikkonen in 2008.

At least the chicane didn't see a crash like this. Don't think that chicane has been used since...

If that happened wouldn't the car hit the fencing floor first before it totally flipped over? By the way here is a chicane which I'm sure all of you will have seen already.

Why don't we talk about this more? Spygate still gets brought up in the media a bunch, but this was Spygate before Spygate. And no one ever mentions it. Why? Because even with the data Toyota was a joke?
My unpopular opinion was that this was worse than Spygate. People got (suspended) jail sentences for this after all. Plus with Toyotas history of cheating.....

Wasn't their 2003 design a copy of the Ferrari? Personally I thought Toyota did OK in 2003.

Yup their 2003 car was a near exact copy of the F2003GA. If I can find the link, a website had the two cars cut in half and then photoshopped together, from the front. They were scary identical. I only bring this up because some of the NASCAR articles mentioned Toyotas past F1 cheating and I had to go, "When did they.....Ooooooohhhhh yea." I just think its weird how quickly it was forgotten.

Imagine if pink was in the the place of the red . I have a die-cast model of the 2008 car, which I think was at least the 3rd best car they made. It is quite attractive with the bridge front wing and low-drag curved rear wing central element. The big Panasonic logo is also cool.

Great Segway into another unpopular opinion: I really liked the "double-decker" bridge wings.

I like them so much they should still be in F1. They are highly artistic. Who invented them? Prost had something similar in 2001 but they did not connect to the nose. BAR were the first to produce nose-to-endplate bridge wings, introducing them at Spa in 2005. Soon Ferrari put them on their 2006 car and at Hockenheim later that year, Renault did the same thing. McLaren introduced the first up-and-over-the-nose bridge wings at Monaco in 2007. By 2008, the only teams who didn't use the bridge wing were BMW, Super Aguri and Honda.

BAR were very rejectful in 1999 and i liked there livery. I also think the Mastercard Lola livery wa quite nice too
The MasterCard Lola, MTV Simtek and 1994 Pacific are the three best liveries in my opinion (closely followed by the Rothmans Williams).

That's good, I don't want to see drivers possibly being injured.
Mind you, removing the chicane will substantially increase the entry speed to that corner - the very reason why the organisers put that chicane there in the first place was to try to keep cornering speeds low due to the lack of run off and the proximity of a marshalling post, but it has to be said that it seems to have caused more accidents than it might have prevented.

Toyota's actions at the time certainly were questionable (and there are questions over how many people really knew what was going on), although I would guess that the reason why that case is less well remembered is possibly because, IIRC, Ferrari prosecuted those involved through the Italian courts via a private lawsuit. The fact that the FIA were kept at arms length and both sides preferred to settle things privately probably explains why less of a fuss was made.

I now know what to make the next Ambrose-Milan cars. Thanks for that

Things I was wrong about: Kimi to Ferrari, Perez out of McLaren, Maldonado to Lotus, Kobash comes back, Gutierrez stays, Chilton stays, Boullier leaves Lotus.

Any F1 car would look good with some pink to distinguish it. Except the McLaren MP4-20.
