1979 Virtual F1 - Watkins Glen race up
Re: 1979 Virtual F1 - sponsor and engine signing in progress
BMW offers engines to any customer who wants them at 265,000 per car. We are priced low this year as we wish to build a good base of customers in our inaugural season. We find it sad that the Cossies have decided to gouge their customers, but it is a free market afterall.

Well as most of the other engine manufacturers have announced publically their pricing Alfa romeo will do the same.
The engine will cost £205,000 each and we can announce that ATS have confirmed with us that they will be running an alfa engine this season.

Re: 1979 Virtual F1 - sponsor and engine signing in progress
For Kauhsen, BMW's germanity is an important factor.
But there's more reasons, these neat little Turbo's fit well with the Ground Effects. Considering BMW are new, we can built up a good relation with them, and work towards the future.
Obviously, you should provide Kauhsen with works engines, not only because they are german, but because of our good relation with Japan (with our Kojima heritage and popular Japanese drivers), giving BMW an excellent opportunity to place themselves on the Japanese and Asian market!
We don't really have much money to actually buy these engines, either, so i would like to compare price information with Alfa-Romeo and Ferrari. A combination of Germany-Japan-Italy can mean the axis powers can finally get back together to conquer the world(championship)! Did i say that out loud?

Shadow would like to issue an official statement of interest with regard to BMW's turbocharged engines. Munich's technical expertise and its rich history all are very attractive to us, and convince us that BMW's involvement in Formula One is destined for great success.
Shadow has invested several million into the innovative field of ground-effect aerodynamics at the tail-end of the previous season, which will prove instrumental in determining the relative performance of the teams this season. In addition, we have a talented driver lineup consisting of the experienced Patrick Tambay and the promising rookie Stefan Johansson.
We are committed to accountability, however, and we would like to express to our prospective partners the perilous state of our finances. Though we are, at present, free of debt, we have been unable to secure any sponsors to date for the upcoming season. As it stands, we are just barely able to commit to a single round of developmental upgrades. With our investment in the new engines, priced at their current rate, we risk insolvency.
Shadow have already contacted BMW regarding a works agreement, but understands if such an arrangement does not prove to be an attractive proposition. We would be very satisfied with a semi-works agreement, in which we pay a flat-rate of 250,000 per engine, and receive any mid-season upgrades for no charge. If this still proves to be unsatisfactory for BMW, we are willing to participate in further negotiations regarding the terms of an agreement.

Some dodgy looking bloke on a dark corner of the paddock called Fat Tony is flogging old Cossie units for a third of their normal price. They have no guarantees whatsoever and may or may not have cylinder heads made of painted plastic. Fat Tony also promises to throw in an ounce with any purchase of two or more units.

Just in case the PM system doesn't work, Ligier are interested in continuing our semi-works deal with Ferrari for 1979. After that, who knows what that crazy bastard Guy will do.

Renault have dropped their price to a far more competitive 375,000 per car per year. We've also had negotiations with two other teams; I will announce them when everything's 100%, or they can confirm their custom in thread.

I'd like to remind you that the number of customers per engine is capped at 6, in order to prevent a situation like the tyre manufacturers in F1RWRS, where only Dunlop and Bridgestone had enough customers for a development program.
pasta_maldonado wrote:The stewards have recommended that Alan Jones learns to drive.
Re: 1979 Virtual F1 - sponsor and engine signing in progress
Hmm, if they are six and we make profit of about 300-400 k per car, we will never return our money we initially invested in inventing the engine. However, the situation is one and the same for all.
Our plans were to sign with about 10 teams. However, I am not thinking of repricing our engines, as we have 2 ongoing negotiations and it will not be fair.

BMW have one signed agreement already and are talking to no less than 4 other teams currently. We will not announce anything yet, until we make one large announcement at the end. We are pleased so far. Remember the compact BMW I4 is the ONLY engine to have if your going to invest in Ground Effects!
Pi, since money is a bit tight for all of us engine players, and since most of us are major car companies, can we get a "budget appropriation" from our Boards of Directors and share holders about 60-65% of the way through the year? (Cosworth and Mantra too to keep it fair) This could be very small (1,5mil-2mil tops) and heck could even vary based on points? Just so we all can keep upgrades flowing throughout the year......Just a thought.

Matra engine costs!
Matra will sell our very new basic engine for just 215k(per car and year)!
We will also make some upgrades during the season! This upgrade packages can be purchased during the season! Works deals are still available for just 220k!
You will have influence on upgrades(which part should be forced in development!)
We already signed a works-deal with Williams and are open to any other team on the grid! Just PM me!
If you wanna have a turbo engine that can last the the wole race, go with Matra!

Nice trying by Ferrari by trying to convince me that a non-turbo engine is worth more than a BMW-Turbo.
Alfa-Romeo did its best though, but still, it was written in the stars that Kauhsen was going to choose BMW. I mean, those cookies really did it

Well, I may as well confirm it, Brabham is firmly in the Renault camp, having agreed a deal earlier this week.
As such, our team name will now be Lavazza Motor Racing Developments with Renault Power, or just Brabham for short.

OI! I handed over Ferrari on the condition that you were not to supply Ligier with engines. Enzo is not a man who goes back on his word. Enzo is not a man who takes betrayal lightly.

Boro can confirm that we will switch to BMW engines from 1979 after the men from Munich made an offer we couldn't refuse.

McLaren will also be using BMW power for 1979.

Shadow is very pleased to announce its new partnership with BMW Motorsport. Owing to the close nature of our forthcoming collaboration, Shadow Racing Team will be rechristened as BMW Shadow Racing to better reflect the new Shadow organization.

Re: 1979 Virtual F1 - sponsor and engine signing in progress
We can now confirm that both Arrows and Tyrrell signed contracts with Cosworth. Including Penke, our family has now three members in 1979. This means we are open for more. If Ligier has some problems with the engines or in case any other team wants to - Cosworth are providing really reliable engines with good power and perfect fuel consumption.
