Infinite Improbability Drive of the Race - 2013 USA

Post by Shizuka »

based on the assumption that, at any moment in time, there is a non-zero probability that even the slowest, most inexperienced and least reliable of underdogs might win the race. That under every rock, there might be a gold nugget. This is the award for that first podium that we all celebrate, for the overtake no-one was expecting, for Charles Pic's first win. This is the award, in short, for the driver or team that makes you go "Woah! Where did THAT come from?!".

Just remember: this is a feel-good award, that will focus on nothing but track action.
Usual rules: everyone gets two votes. First vote is worth 10 points, the second 6.

Post your results until 22nd November

1. Bottas
2. Who cares? It's Valterri's day! Maybe give it to Tilke - nobody complains about this being dull or just another Tilkedrome, no mention of Tilkedromes all weekend.

1. Bottas. An especially satisfying four points in the wake of Maldonado's accusations.

2. Grosjean. A measured and solid drive to hold off Webber for second place. Sterling effort.

1) Bottas - Exceptional weekend. If he'd strung his lap in Q3 together, he might have managed more. However, he's put Maldonado well and truly to the sword.
2) Grosjean - Defended from Webber with style. He's a real class act.

1. Bottas - Driver of the weekend.
2. Bianchi - Marussia seemd to be far off the pace in practice, but he beat both Caterhams in the race.

As much as I like Grosjean, his great performances don't really fit the definition of "Infinite Improbability" any more. But I'm happy to see that he scores these results consistantly now.

1. #Bottas- No question. Brilliant race for him

I'm not 100% sure how infinitely improbable another Grosjean podium is, but seeing as I am a monster fanboy of his, he gets the second nomination.

1. Valtteri Bottas: Amazing weekend for him. Simply brilliant in every single session except possibly Q3. First career points, the best result of the season for Williams, his second Q3 appearance and a great overtaking move on Gutiérrez. All this while Maldonado drove and acted like a clown.
2. Jules Bianchi: The weekend started in the worst possible way for him. He missed FP1 after being replaced by González and was terribly off the pace in FP2. In spite of these setbacks, he managed to beat one Caterham in qualifying and both of them in the race!

1) Valterri Bottas: Exceptional work in qualifying, solid work during the race. Good result.

2) Romain Grosjean: Managed to hold off Webber with aplomb after a good start which gave him a decent track position.

Is there any doubt?

1)Valteri Bottas: Drove like a champ and showed that there's a glimpse of hope for what has been a worst car than the McLaren all year. Williams choose the right driver for 2014.

2)Romain Grosjean: Gone is the First Lap Nut, and here's the only man that can get in between the all conquering Red Bull. No Alonsos, no Hamiltons, no Button, RoGro is making a statement for 2014.

Honorable mentions to Sergio Pérez (Third race in a row showing his exausts to old JB, not bad for a sacked man) and Nico Hulkenberg (the customer Ferrari make the official Ferrari sweat bullets)

1) Bottas - One of the biggest smiles of the year from me for his points finish!

2) I'm going to give it to Perez - he was pretty competitive all round while Jenson was struggling, won't do his chances of a drive any harm.
