I really hope Michael isn't in a serious condition.

More reports coming out that Schumacher has a 'serious head injury'. Taking these with a pinch of salt as media stories tend to be exaggerated at first but i seriously hope he's ok.

Hope he gets better soon. I don't know if anyone else has had the same thigh but I've grown fonder and fonder of Schumacher since 2004...

Also being reported on Autosport. Key point:
While I have never been a fan of his, I would not wish him to go through a serious injury like this.
Despite initial reports suggesting his injuries were serious it is believed that Schumacher, who was wearing a helmet, is not in a serious condition.
According to the Press Association, Gernignon Christophe Lecomte - director of the Meribel resort in which Schumacher was staying - told Radio Monte Carlo Sport: "He was shocked, a little shaken but conscious.
"It may be a head injury but it is not very serious."

Yeah, I heard 'serious' on the radio in the car on the way home and was bricking it. But it seems it's not as bad as that.

Thankfully, it does seem as if the latest reports are a little more upbeat about Michael's condition - it does seem as if the helmet bore the brunt of the impact and his condition seems to be stable, so it seems that his injuries are not as severe as first feared.

Re: Michael Schumacher skiing accident
I was worried for some reason when I heard the reports earlier that this somehow might end up being more serious than they said at first...
I know Schumacher has always been someone who's perhaps inspired more respect than affection, but I'm sure all F1 fans will be hoping he pulls through. To go through such a long motor racing career unscathed (well, there was the broken leg, but you know what I mean) and then for something like this to happen... Just awful.
He was a massive part of Formula One when I first started watching it, and through my formative years of becoming a fan of the sport. He was always the "villain" of the piece when I was young, being a Damon Hill fan, but in later years I came to support him more, especially when he was battling against McLaren in the late 1990s and early 2000s as they were never a team I took to when Ron Dennis was running them.
Anyway, sorry, this is sounding too eulogistic already. Let's hope eulogies are not needed for many years to come.

Ironically, over the Christmas break I've been watching the year reviews from the years he dominated (2001 and 2002), he seemed so invincible!

It is very worrying. I know from a family experience how an, apparently, comparatively minor injury can develop. It seems they moved him to the Grenoble hospital quickly enough for an intervention to be viable.

I did exactly the same thing to a couple of people on Facebook.

Here's hoping the man will pull thorugh. Never supported him per sé until the Mercedes years, but I, along with pretty much every F1 fan, have the utmost respect for him and what he achieved. I too am not religious, but I have prayed for him and his family. God bless

Re: Michael Schumacher skiing accident
Michael Schumacher is a hero to me. He is inspirational, despite his moments of daftness. He is my childhood hero, for how he turned Ferrari's dreary fortunes around within a few years, and his mastery and dominance combined in one fine package. He have me the desire to succeed, and not just in canoe slalom as most of you know, but in life in general, and not many athletes can do that to people. To hear of this is just awful, and I truly wish Michael a quick revovery, just as he would recover from a mistake in a race. Best wishes mate.
