Well, we were so excited at the Australian Grand Prix result that we couldn't help but podcast immediately afterward.

What she said! Don't ever be so impatient in awarding ROTR again. Minimum 24 hours so that we understand the reasons for each retirement, and to have all scrutineering completed. That way, it can be a much more informed decision, and no revocation required!

In fact, it hasn't been the first time Enoch awarded ROTR before revocation took place. He in fact posted his original idea for ROTR for the 2013 Japanese GP (originally given to Mercedes) on the main page, only to reverse it to Jules Bianchi and Giedo van der Garde, even though there weren't extenuating circumstances there. Yeah, it was a little impatient, but I had my doubts as to whether Kamui actually made a mistake or the brakes failed when I first saw the incident. It didn't look like a driver error, and when he locked all fours and didn't slow down much I had a feeling a problem had arisen. He may be a little bit if a Kamikaze, but he is experienced enough to not make that mistake. So, even before we knew the problem, I was a little reluctant to think about giving him ROTR. Although the way the Brazilian TV coverage went on a rampage about Massa being taken off even though they found out that brake failure caused the crash makes them seem very deserving of ROTR, although nationalistic quotes usually shouldn't get ROTR. Red Bull fully deserve this ROTR award hands down for thinking that they are above the FIA being champions for the past 4 years. Or they were so desperate in getting points despite the fact that they were only hoping to finish the race at first that lead them to think that such a turnaround makes them indefinately above all others. Quite honestly, they can go into a corner and hide their sorry (or not) attitude if they really want to say the FIA's readings are wrong and their's are right. Well, Red Bull's car is more unreliable than the FIA right now. I wouldn't take that into question for a second at the rate they're going.

I disagree on this one. Of course J & E wanted to put the podcast up as soon as possible, it was the best ever result by an
Australian driver in the Australian Grand Prix, after all.
Naturally, being patriotic they wanted to share the triumph right away. Completely understandable.
And also if they hadn't done the podcast when they did, it might have been the entire podcast via Skype instead? (lesser quality)
As it sounded like they watched the GP together, made the podcast together, but later weren't nearby to each other.

You missed my point Jocke1. I loved the podcast. I wish they could podcast much more often. It was only the ROTR decision I said that could have been postponed by a few days...

Actually, I wish you guys would jump the gun more often, because the noticeably angry tone of voice in the reconvened podcast made for a very amusing listen to on my morning commute.

To be fair, the last time you jumped the gun was, IIRC, the Australian GP of 2006 -- where you were celebrating Scott Speed scoring a point ... when he didn't!

Maldonado paid $25 million to leave Williams - report
A contract termination payment of $25M in the Williams annual report reveals the whole story.

May 3 (GMM) A $25 million termination payment from Pastor Maldonado's sponsor helped Williams to drive back into profit.
The publicly-listed British team released its 2013 financial results on Friday, showing a $20m operating profit despite a poor season on track.
The Telegraph newspaper said the result was helped by a one-off termination payment made by the Venezuelan oil company PDVSA, who wanted to move their backing of driver Maldonado to the Lotus team for 2014.
The report said the payment "is believed to be in the region of $25m", in the wake of a more than $8 million loss recorded by Williams just a year ago.

"We made good progress commercially through the winter months and Williams continues to attract an enthusiastic and very loyal group of partners and fans," team boss Sir Frank Williams said in Friday's statement.

"These annual results demonstrate that we continue to manage our business in a fiscally responsible way and provide the foundation from which we can continue to grow.
"We have started the 2014 Formula One season well and hope we can continue to improve our performance," he added.

I think no one in the paddock can point at one team saying that that team will dominate next year. It's a completely random choice.

If you don't move teams when you should've, oh well, but if you move then it turns out to be the wrong choice, you look very silly.
