A bunch of baby boomers in their tweed jackets guffawing at the thought of a hybrid engine in the back of a Formula One machine?
"I do say old chap, isn't this talk of electrical nonsense in the car just the worst? I remember back in the day when Moss was driving a straight six powered by the corpses of the lower classes, shagging a lovely bit of totty on his way to victory. Speaking of which, it is a tragedy that young chap Hamilton is what we have representing Britannia these days - we can't be having descendents of bongo bongo land flying our flag, can we? What happened to the stand up influence of Stirling?"

That'd be a proper question in my case. This is the first F1 forum I have ever registered to, and have no intentions to go anywhere else. That says a lot.

Same here. I have looked at other more official forums, usually affiliated to something like Autosport or whatever and it often appears to me at least too focused on the front end, the Rejects appear to have no worth and in some points of view should be got rid of. What I like about this den of iniquity is the broader range of subjects. Yes we fall out from time to time and people often post before thinking (Id consider myself one of the worst btw) but its still a forum where there's something interesting to read each time I visit, often due to the high level of knowledge members have, and not just about the champion elite either.
I think what we need is newer emoticons btw

Max Chilton
2013 Qualifying - 21st, 2013 Race - 19th
“I’m really excited about the Canadian Grand Prix. After such a positive test in Barcelona, and a very positive qualifying in Monaco off the back of that, I am hoping that we can piece together all of the positives into a more competitive result in Montreal. I am really encouraged by the work we have done and the obvious progress that we are making with the car. I think the whole team loves coming to Montreal. It’s such a great venue for the race and the fans are so enthusiastic. After a successful team result last time out, it’s shaping up to being busier than usual. I can’t wait to get back down to the racing.”

Max Chilton, FP1 - 1:20.844, 20th; FP2 - 1:18.693, 18th
“I’m pleased with where I’ve ended the day on the timesheet. I think we got quite a lot of the car today and in particular I had a very positive FP2. We got a good long run with the car in which we seemed to be quite competitive, so hopefully we can maintain this progress into tomorrow.”
John Booth, Marussia team principal
With Max everything has pretty much run to programme and he is quite happy with the balance of the car. He did his option run very early in the session as we decided to concentrate more on long runs with the tyres. This will be reflected in the ultimate pace, but he still looks relatively competitive.

Re: Get Ready for... The ChiltonCraze!
Marussia
Max Chilton (18th, Q1 - 1:18.348)
“We came here off the back of a great result for the team in Monaco, but fully expecting to struggle rather more at a circuit that has never really suited our car in previous seasons. I think we are all a little surprised, but pleasantly so, because it really underlines how much progress we’ve made with the car in all conditions and at a variety of circuits. We’ve had a very positive couple of days and we were hoping to be able to wrap all that into a great qualifying, which we started to do on the first run. That was a good lap, but there was definitely room for improvement, but the red flag put paid to that. We have to look on the bright side though because it’s a further sign that our progress is genuine and not the product of one race. My plan for tomorrow is to aim to keep everyone behind me and hopefully have a nice fight with the cars ahead.”
All I see when reading the above is;
"My plan for tomorrow is to aim to keep everyone behind me."
Everyone?

Re: Get Ready for... The ChiltonCraze!
I have a possibly valid reason to let Max Chilton off for his awful mistake. By bringing out the SC for 7 whole laps, it meant that the field was bunched up by the time of the first stops and allowed the Force Indias to rise into 3rd and 4th, with their one-stop strategy in turn sending Perez up into 2nd for some time. Without the SC the field spread would have been greater and the race might not have developed as spectacularly as it did. So Max did a favour for the GP.

I haven't been on this forum for about a week and a half and have only just caught up with the Canadian GP. Whilst there was a lot to savour about the race I can't quite get over what happened to Talent. I am in a state of mourning and will be for several weeks to come. Don't expect to see me around here much.

Re: Get Ready for... The ChiltonCraze!
I am at a crossroads, I honestly don't know if I can support Max anymore. It's been a hell of a fun time this far spent on board his wagon,
but I'm afraid that all I can feel now is fear of Max. Fear of what he has become and what he might do.
According to Edd Straw and Matt Beer at autosport.com Max was quoted in Canada saying;
He then went on saying;
This [above] is Max lying through his teeth. That is not how he really feels. In fact, an Austrian pit lane marshal made a tweet during the Austrian GP race weekend how he overheard Max talking inside the Marussia garage, during free practice.
Now, I was going to save that tweet if it weren't for it being deleted within minutes of it's posting.
Even the twitter account has since been deleted.
But the gist of it was how Max was so very angry with Jules, so very angry with the team and extremely angry with the world!
I guess that means us?
He had also apparently shouted to a mechanic;
The same marshal mentioned some further details about Max having been to Norway and the Czech Republic recently, and how people should be aware of the growing threat and not take this situation lightly.
What did he do over there? What does Chilton have planned? I do not know, and I am not sure I want to find out either.
However I certainly can't let this go. Soon I will be travelling first to Norway to see if I can find more information on this matter, whatever that may be. If it leads to something, naturally Czech Republic will be next.
If I make it back I will report further..
but I'm afraid that all I can feel now is fear of Max. Fear of what he has become and what he might do.
According to Edd Straw and Matt Beer at autosport.com Max was quoted in Canada saying;
The problem is with the world feed it cuts to me having oversteer and it looks like I slide straight into him (Bianchi).
What actually happened was we were side-by-side out of Turn 2 into 3.
I braked late and he braked even later, which was too late in my opinion, and then turned in.
The only thing I could do at that point to try to avoid it looking like it was my fault was to go to the inside.
I took the big kerb, still didn't have enough room so I hit the brakes to slow the car down which lost the rear end and that's when it cut to the world feed. So it looks like I braked late and lunged at him but in fact I had the inside line and I was just trying at all costs to avoid him.
He then went on saying;
It was a nice record to have but in a weird way it kind of takes the pressure off my shoulders and actually, subconsciously, it was probably sometimes making me back out of stuff like that.
I've been pretty good at staying out of accidents. I know when something's going to happen.
I was not expecting that car to turn in so then at that point I tried to avoid the accident like I always do.
