Unusual Places to watch an f1 race

Today I had to drive home from Glasgow following a family gathering last night, so I ended up having to watch the f1 race sat in the back seat of my car in a layby off the A9 on my android tablet.

Has anyone else watched F1 at an unusual place?

Went and got my wheel-balancing done on my car Saturday down the local garage. When it was finished, Q2 was about to start so stayed and watched the rest of quali in the waiting room.

several years ago, watched the final 20-odd laps of a race courtesy of a tv in an electronics shop which was in the window. I got some weird looks from passers-by.

Today I was doing a sponsored walk from New Brighton to West Kirby and i used the mobile data on my phone to watch the Abu Dhabi race. The battery sadly conked out after lap 30

I watched the early part of this years Chinese GP from a doctor's waiting room

I watched a re-run of the 2007 United States Grand Prix on a crappy TV in my hotel room on a school trip in Malaysia.

In similar fashion, I caught the 2013 Malaysian Grand Prix in the Ibis Hotel Versailles minutes before going back to Belgium, again on a school trip.

I saw the 1993, 1994 and 1997 German GPs on the TV in the facilities of a French campsite - can't think of anything else I'm afraid!

On the day of the 1997 French Grand Prix I had to go to my cousins sons christening but back at my Uncles house I managed to put the race on the TV in the kitchen and catch bits in between talking to relatives. It seemed a dull race and MSC won.

Managed to find the story of how I rediscovered F1 after almost 20 years of disinterest, on my very first post here at the forum:

... of all places, I was stuck at a shabby airfield during my last tour in Afghanistan in 2012, where the only entertainment while waiting for a flight from one side of the country to another was a tiny TV showing the Malaysian GP. My efforts at explaining what was going on to the American travelling with me were soon put right by the Italian and Spanish guys waiting for our flight (all tifosi and Alonso fans - who would have guessed?) and after a couple of hours of watching the race with blokes who knew what they were talking about I was pretty much hooked again.

My efforts at explaining F1 to my American colleague were not enhanced by my relying on hazy memories of F1 in the late 80's and early 90's to work out what was going on. I think it was about the time that I started to say "... right, if that's a Senna in a Williams, he's got to be competitive ..." that the tifosi waiting for our flight decided they had heard enough and needed to set me straight.

I usually end up watching the flyaway races at Mini Lella's gym club, which has wi-fi, or in the gym on a Sunday morning. The gym telly has subtitles on and what the speech recognition software comes up with for the driver's names is usually more entertaining than the race.

Actually I do remember for the 1996 Japanese GP, I just just started university a couple of weeks before and about 8 of us went to a nearby dorm to all get up at 4am to support Damon Hill. The noise in there when Villeneuve fluffed the start......

I think I watched a race from a hospital bed once. But I was so high on morphine, I no longer remember which GP it was, nor the year

I saw the 2005 Turkish GP in a roulotte of a camping. The problem was that the roulotte wasn't mine, in the camping all had the TV, but not the bar. So, very angry for this situation, I asked to a family that have the tv if I could see the GP and they accepted. They also offered me a coffee and, more or less, at half GP they leave me completely alone in their roulotte because they had to go.
I usually see the summer GPs at the bar of a camping, I remember to have see some GPs, like the 1999 German GP, 2001 European GP, 2004 French GP, 2005 British and German GP, 2007 Hungarian GP in this way. But the best one was 2009 European GP. I asked to the bar if it was possible to look at the Free Practice and they accepted. I saw all the week end at the bar, but if on friday I was alone, on Saturday the bar was quite full. As italian Hamilton fan, I went to the bar with Lewis T-Shirt. All the presents looked me as a stupid, because in Italy obviously 99 person of 100 support Ferrari, but the Pole of Lewis was exciting, his Pole silenced they and it was a great feeling. The day after, the bar was completely full. I was on first row as usual, again with McLaren T-shirt. When Lewis lost leadership due a pit stop mistake all the bar exploded against me Not so happy for this, but I had to accept..at least they didn't kill me

Saw this year's Japanese GP at a casino in Reno. Trying to figure out what happened to Jules at the end without any audio was a bit surreal...

It was surreal even with audio...

Anyway, I went karting with my brother on the day of the 2009 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix and caught parts of the race while we were at the centre.

Come to think of it, there's other instances where I caught events in unusual circumstances.

I remember watching the 2006 Australian Grand Prix at a birthday party in a giant kid's playground (I was 10, deal with it) on a Malaysian channel. How a TV got there, I'll never know, let alone why it was showing F1...

Not strictly a race, but I watched qualifying for last year's Korean Grand Prix at the karting track in between two of my stints for the 24 Hours of Eupen. It was a big event, with simulators hooked up to Gran Turismo 5, big screens for anything motorsport related playing on TV and hundreds of people. We came dead last, a long way back, but what the hell. 'Twas great fun.

Not F1, but I have regularly seen V8 races on the tv at my local kart club (usually once I finish racing )

I was in Hong Kong for the Italian GP this year. Knowing I was staying in the airport hotel (which, is pretty fancy) I was looking forward to a relaxing race on the king-size bed on the wide-screen.

Problem is, the TV didn't have the F1.

So then I had to use the wifi (paid for by my boss, it was a business trip) to frantically find a streaming website on my laptop, which ended up being crappy and by the end I was only getting about 1 frame per second.

Good thing I was taping it back home!
