Nick Foster is sadly retiring from the series.

Looking at the car launches from ASI, I have to say the BTCC has some pretty horrible liveries. The SOPR Q50 looks like it was designed by a fourth-grader after one too many cups of red cordial, while Andy Prilaux's livery looks like it takes inspiration from Ron Burgundy's kitchen curtains. As for the Moffatt and Bushell creations, they appear to have been made in twenty minutes using MS Paint.

bathplug yeah! I miss seeing Priaulx in actual touring cars. Tordoff/Priaulx is one hell of a lineup. West Surrey might fight for the title with both drivers, and they're still missing one driver.

It would be a travesty if Colin Turkington did not get a seat in the BTCC next year, let alone a vaguely competitive one. I'm not so bothered by Plato not getting a seat, however.

Turkington is at ASI as I write this, and apparently he is quite taken with the Porsche 919 Hybrid.

If he can't find a BTCC seat, I'm sure he'd be welcome down here for a V8 Supercar hit-out.

For some reason I do not hate Jason Plato, because the first times I watched BTCC was he winning many races I don't remember he doing dirty things, so yeah
Then everyone thinks I'm intimidating you guys, then I got banned. Welp, incredible misunderstanding

You could see this post as unpopular opinion?

Well, you clearly have never had the misfortune of meeting him at a BTCC race meet then.

That isn't why you got banned, you were banned for other things. If you want people to forgive you and forget about it, stop bringing it up and move on with your life.

Aaaaanyway, it's nice to see a bit of a shake-up. WSR have a strong line-up on paper, and if Rob Collard were able to stay on they've got three front-runners. I think Andy Jordan picked the right time to move; he had to fly the nest at some point and he's done everything he can at the family team. The MG looks cool in Pirtek colours too, so that's a bonus.

FFS one of my favourite drivers. :( I'm already less exited for 2015 than last season now, only things of real note so far are Jordan's switch to MG and maybe seeing what Moffat can do in a good car. Even Priaulx's return doesn't interest me, based on how DTM went for him I can see him emulating Giovanardi's return last season. Turkington and Jackson better still have rides this season.

WTCC let this event go? Really? Replacing Macau with Losail says a lot about thinking in the short term... *shakes head*

BTCC should accept the invitation with open arms, but only if the travel expenses can be covered properly. The latter would be easier for V8 Supercars, though, because that series wouldn't have it near as far from Australia. Anyway, landing the Guia Race would be a scoop for either series.

Considering how the BTCC calender hasn't changed one bit since 2011 I'm not holding my breath on Gow actually going for it, especially since its so far. He's never made any radical choices with the calender. But we can hope. It will probably be a non championship round if it does as the smaller teams probably can't afford it.

Frankly I've always liked how the BTCC has never strayed far from it's roots. Apart from the trips to Mondello a few years back, the series has never really ventured outside of the UK. It's a bit refreshing honestly, seeing a series which knows its role and sticks to it.

Although it would be nice for the BTCC to visit Macau I think the British touring car championship should stick to its roots, maybe a non championship race after the season has finished.

Cant see the BTCC heading to Macau. Not all the teams would travel to Macau due to the cost and the high chance of damage and a hefty repair bill, so what will it be some BTCC cars and some Local teams running elderly S2000 cars

On a side note but slightly relevant, my band is playing an open mic on tuesday 10th february and as our main bassist is not free we have a replacement performing with us. It has turned out the replacement is former two time BTCC champion Chris Hodgetts, his name should have twigged for me when he contacted me to step in, it only did when I asked did he use to race cars as seen on his facebook his championship winning cars. He has also drove Group C cars including the keyboardists favourite ever sportscar, the Mazda 787B. Hopefully if it is long term I can have a few conversations with him on his career as it is a decent one, also I do not have to worry about him regarding transport and getting to the gig and practice on the sunday before.

Turkington is already talking down his championship chances as he needs time to adapt from RWD to FWD. Whereas Plato is stating a need to win from event 1 (that'll be Brands Hatch Indy then, Mr Plato...). I know who seems more arrogant and who seems to be managing expectations better!

I know we all expect the worst from Plato... but I don't see what's so bad about saying he needs to win from the very start - I mean, he's not saying he will...

And the first WTCC test is done with Citroen 1-2-3-5-6, and only one car within 2 seconds of them. Always good to be reminded that things in F1, as bad as they are, can be worse.

A series in crises. Hundreds of Millions of Dollars in revenue. Thousands of People's Livelyhoods. All have been hanging in the balance for two years now, and potentially causing a major domino effect on the rest of the motorsport industry as we know it. And all you have is "lul citroen" and "2 lap races at nurb durp" against the WTCC.

I genuinely thought Mat Jackson could challenge for the title this year. Not a chance now.
