GTR Series Commissioner Terrance Carter Delivers State of The Series AddressKagoshima, Japan. (October 21, 2017) - "The beginning of something big," was the theme of the Thirty Minute Address made by GTR Series Commissioner Terrance Carter at his official State of The Series Address for the soon to be re-branded GTR WC.
It was one of the main talking points from the American during the address, the GTR WC will become the Rolex GT Super Series from 2018 onward, withseries current partner Rolex SA procuring naming rights of the series for the foreseeable future. The new logo for the series was debuted alongside the official watch that will be given to overall race winners in 2018.

"We're very enthusiastic to have series partners who are as enthusiastic about this series as we are, and want to share that with others," Carter Proclaimed, "they (Rolex) aren't the only ones either, with our current partners all continuing our co-operations into the long term."
That wasn't the only thing that made it's debut, as two new vehicles to be raced in the GT Super Series in 2018 were unveiled in front of the Press, with Series Champions Ricardo Llosa and Jordan McKenna unveiling the new Chevrolet Corvette C6.R in Union Saver Development colors, and Aston Martin Racing Team Principal John Gaw and Gulf Racing driver Roland Davidson unveiling the Aston Martin DBR9 in Gulf Racing colors, to some contention from the crowd. This contention came from the fact that a DBR9 is on the entry list for the Eskom Kyalami 9 Hour event, with Rob Lomas Racing set to run two examples at the event in early December.
"This is a pressing issue that we and Aston Martin have been working to resolve. AMR have never been in Contact with Rob Lomas Racing to have them race the car as a part of the car's development before it's GT Super Series debut or anything. It's a part of the pressing issues with the Kyalami 9 Hour."
Terrance Carter doubled-down on the present conflict with the Eskom Kyalami 9 Hour stating that the regulations in place haven't been ratified to let teams in GTR race in the GT1 class of other events with cars homologated with the Commission without permission, with all the assets needed to run in the series will be seized if they do not comply. The dialogue that was started by both organizing bodies that had opened during the Suzuka GTR weekend has apparently broken down, with the Markus Mk. Co allegedly not returning any calls
made by the GTR Commission.
"It's disappointing, but I'm not entirely surprised it came to this. A lot of the teams involved in the rash of newer series across the world are these super-teams with massive employee counts and even bigger budgets. They are non-committal in everything they do, entering new ventures without much fear or potential contingency plan if something doesn't go their way. I want the teams in the GT Super Series to be invested in the series. The manufactures and partner brands involved are invested in the series and see the beginning of something big with this series, and I want the teams to it see that too."
The series saw growth in its TV Ratings through it's partnership with ESPN and its subsidiaries and increase in attendance for locales in their second year hosting the series, with locales that were hosting the series for the first time were thrilled at the attendance numbers and openness the series has with fans across the globe.
The series expects continued growth with Terrance Carter calling 2018 their, "biggest and most important" season yet and "only the beginning of something big" and would talk about other analytics related to the series growth before closing out with the announcement of the 2018 Calendar, with one location to be announced.
