1. Hamilton: Did he really think that passing on the grass with slicks was really going to work?!

2. Fire Marshall: From what I've read, it sure was a "Fire Marshall Bill" moment.

1. The rabid Lewis Hamilton fanbase - Putting the blame for the incident squarely on the shoulders of Nico Rosberg, who "made two dangerous blocking moves", "deliberately rammed Hamilton off the track" and "didn't ever leave room".

No.

When Hamilton begins the move, Rosberg is already moving to the right, and the gap is closing. Hamilton had plenty of time to either back off and try again later (after all, he's "the best there is, he can pass anyone at any time") or jerk to the left and make the move on the outside. Also, Rosberg is indeed required to leave a car's width of room once Hamilton's front wing is level with Rosberg's rear wheel. Slight problem: by the time this happens, Hamilton's right wheels are already on the grass. Now, Rosberg isn't blameless, him fluffing his engine settings caused this mess in the first place, but it was Hamilton's responsibility to avoid the accident.

I suppose I need to nominate a second...

2. The TV Graphics/Race control - Firstly announcing an investigation into the incident between "Kimi Räikkönen and Lewis Hamilton" only to retract it 15 seconds later, then by not only showing blatantly false information relating to which tyres were on each car, but also by seemingly inventing the T compound. This is the stuff ROTR is made of.

1- Mercedes: It is always RoTR material when team-mates take each other out.

2- Sky take on the incident and overall commentary of the race: It was quite poor, to say the least.
Colin Kolles on F111, 2011 HRT challenger: The car doesn't look too bad; it looks like a modern F1 car.

Lewis Hamilton and his Fanbase (which includes the Sky broadcasters) -- Hopeless overtake would never have worked. If Nico did not defend, that still would have resulted in a massive crash. His fanbase is approaching Chicago Cubs-levels of excuse making, and the Sky broadcasters (I watched a Sky feed of this race) made zero attempt to be impartial. Thankfully Niki Lauda was there to be the sensible one... for a change...

The Tyop Knig -- Announcing an investigation between Raikkonen and Hamilton because someone probably typed in car number 7 instead of car number 6 for Rosberg. For that alone, the Tyop Knig must be honored.

Honorable mentions:

Esteban Gutierrez -- Complaining that unreliability makes him look bad. Team gives him a car that's reliable, and he still runs like garbage except for a decent middle stint where he was passing ... wounded cars, and that's about it. Foot in mouth syndrome to a spectacular degree.
Jolyon Palmer -- Slower than Maldonado and a lot less entertaining.
Daniil Kvyat -- He's probably on suicide watch, Verstappen won in his first try at Red Bull, Sainz destroyed him, and he ran somewhere in the lower midfield all race long.

  1. Sky Sports, they edge out into 1st because their pro-Hamilton bias is just going to be even more insufferable when they don't have any free-to-air competitors to worry about in 2019.
  2. Lewis Hamilton, I'm surprised he didn't regurgitate Senna's line about "If you don't go for a gap that exists, you are no longer a racing driver".

Maybe someone should tell Lewis and his more deranged fans that line is a complete load of bullcrap. Senna only said that to cover his ass after intentionally wrecking Prost in Japan.

Oh dear. So, Hamilton apologised for the incident, much to the dismay of Martin Brundle, as this goes completely against his theory of British infallibility...

No, it's Sky Sports. They'll harp on about how Lewis is the Chocolate Ayrton Senna (ugh). I don't know how they'll spin it to fit that, but they'll find a way.

1. Nico Rosberg - For driving like an idiot and pushing the much faster Hamilton onto the grass, he was also using the wrong setting.

2. Fire Marshal - Making a complete fool out of themselves when trying to use a fire extinguisher.

This forum is so anti-Hamilton its disgusting, lets just blame everything on him just because we don't like him, I seem to remember Sebastian Vettel getting the same treatment when he was champion.

You got it all wrong. This forum is not anti-Hamilton, this forum is anti-Hamilton's idiotic fan base. I realise it is an easy mistake to do although both are completely different things, so you are forgiven :). If you read again you can see that it is the fan base people are making fun of. As they are capable of spinning the most ludicrous stories.

As for the Seb Vettel case, it is not comparable in my opinion since you have much more variables at play.

A bit different if equally annoying; Vettel was winning everything and Hamilton has won precisely cock all so far.

Every fanbase has fringes that post insane theories on forums, right? Seriously, this is the only sport forum I go to, so I genuinely don't know.

I would say yes - given that some people become extremely passionate about their icons, you can get a wide range of sycophantic praise and caustic abuse thrown at certain figures.

I've certainly seen one Rosberg fan on another forum who spent the whole of 2015 bitterly accusing Mercedes of deliberately sabotaging Rosberg, and even now that Rosberg is winning, still continues to pour vitriolic abuse on Hamilton (to the point of near obsession with denigrating him) and complains about the bias of the team. Popular drivers like Raikkonen also have a legion of fans who can, sometimes, become rather aggressive if he is criticised, whilst others seem to happily jump on the next bandwagon, both in terms of praising a driver and also in vilifying them.
