2010 Virtual BTCC- Doningtion (Mostly)Up!
2010 Virtual BTCC:
The series is run as per last year's format, using GP2 and a slightly inaccurate race gridding setup; however, there have been some changes for 2010:
New regulations:
- There are now two types of engines in the series, with the naturally aspirated s2000 engines supplemented by the potentially more powerful, yet untested NGTC Swindon turbo engine, which is also in a limited supply.
- LPG conversions are now available as well to a couple of teams, offering more power at the cost of reliability
- As we in the second year of the series, teams that are almost completely broke can use last year's cars for a nominal 1CR fee, but if this is the case, they cannot be upgraded (and look what that did for Tempus last year).
New/Revised teams:
- AmdTuning, Forster Motorsport, and Special Tuning Racing are joining the series for 2010
- After a mediocre 2009, Vauxhall have stopped support for Triple Eight, citing the increasing costs of the operation as the reason for this decision. Parent company GM has instead decided to provide backing to the RML operation, which improved noticeably near the end of 2009, giving them access to the new Cruze model,
- Honda are also back in the BTCC, having decided to join forces with the Dynamics team, who just want to forget 2009, easily their worst season so far in the modern BTCC. The team will hence be running a new build of the Honda Civic for 2010.
- Tempus Sport are now called Bamboo Engineering after a rebrand, while TH has merged with Tech-Speed, keeping the latter's name and prize money

Re: 2010 Virtual BTCC- Confirm Your Entries!
Here are the Car, Engine, Fuel and Driver options for those entering the series for 2010, as promised (I'm posting them early this season, mainly as I actually have stuff prepared properly).
Car list:
All cars are at the same spec as the best team's version from 2009 (so the Seat Leon is to CVR's spec for example), and may have changed in pricing regarding their competitiveness last year.
Engine Options:
Drivers:
Alan Morrison and Anthony Reid have retired from the BTCC, Adam Jones and Roberto Colciago have left after poor seasons, and a few prices have fluctuated. Also, there's quite a few new drivers to pick from, although as with last year, non-listed drivers are allowed if they competed in the BTCC or similar series around 2008-2011 and are over 18 as of 01/01/10.
The entry form is pretty much the same as last years:

You do realise that with your driver choices, you could afford new 120ds which you could upgrade (however you would also be broke, so fair point with the old cars- I mean, there's nothing stopping you changing later)

You're right, and I almost did go for the new ones, but I'd have such a tiny budget for an upgrade programme that I thought it wouldn't be worth it.This Could Be You wrote:You do realise that with your driver choices, you could afford new 120ds which you could upgrade (however you would also be broke, so fair point with the old cars- I mean, there's nothing stopping you changing later)
This season will be rough, but we'll be saving funds for a more serious 2011 campaign, or - if we wind AFM up - perhaps as an incentive for a merger with another team to carry on our legacy of never-petrol .

You can't bid for the Cruze, as it is exclusive to RML until 2011- do you want to bid for the Lacetti instead?

You may want to look at your starting budget and revise your options, as you will be between 12-32CR in debt when the season starts if you use your current options, which would be hard to regain even if you ran a lot of pay drivers like Vauxhall did last year.
Also, you forgot to specify which engine option you are going for; if you do not modify your bids I will assume you want a conventional S2000 spec engine

My apologies, I thought my budget had taken the car into account straight away. I'll adjust accordingly.

Your bids would leave you 5-15CR in debt; this is not unreasonable considering you could always swap pay drivers at some point during the year to gain more money, but I'm just pointing it out in case you hadn't realised.
Also, the NGTC engine only costs 20CR, not 30CR.

Edit: oh wait, I misread your engine bid, you probably won't be in debt by that much (only about 15CR, this can be made up for by running some paydrivers like last year) if you get the Vectra, which you probably will based on the current bids.
In another news, I will run the RNGs on Monday, so you have until then to claim place bids for one of the unallocated teams if you wish to enter the series, although you can enter later using whatever's left over (and you'll probably miss the Media Day test and hence have to pre-qualify)

Re: 2010 Virtual BTCC- Bids Up! -DemocalyseNow, Peteroli nee
I have decided to run the RNGs a bit early as nobody else seems to want to enter and this gives me more time to prepare resources, so here goes:
(* indicates clash)
Car Bids:
WSR: BMW 320si E90
Seat: Seat Leon TDI
CVR: BMW 320si E90
888: Vauxhall Vectra *
Arena: Ford Focus
RML: Cruze
GR Asia: Seat Leon
Maxtreme: Seat Leon
Tech-Speed: Peugeot 407
Motorbase: Honda Civic '07 *
Eurotech: Volvo C30
Honda: Honda Civic '10
Boulevard: Honda Civic '07 *
AFM: None (using '09 car)
Special Tuning: Honda Accord
As there are only two bidders for each (with two sets available), the E90 and Leon bidders get their first choices.
Honda Civic '07
1-70 Motorbase, 71-100 Boulevard
Result: 17, so Motorbase gets Dynamics' old spec cars, and Boulevard runs Lacettis instead.
Drivers:
Drivers:
WSR: Turkington *, Chilton *
Seat: Plato, Jordan
CVR: Shedden, Turkington *
888: Giovanardi, Chilton *
Arena: Coronel *, Collard
RML: Thompson, Foster *
GR Asia: Coronel *, Foster *
Maxtreme: Michelisz, Pinkney
Tech-Speed: Neil, O'Neill
Motorbase: Jackson, Smith
Eurotech: Onslow-Cole, Depper
Honda: Farfus, Bennani (non-listed drivers- will be run though acceptance RNG)
Boulevard: Gilham *, Foster *
AFM: Eaves, Ferrier
Special Tuning: Turkington *, Gilham *
First, let's see if Farfus and Benanni migrate to the BTCC:
Augusto Farfus
1-60 Moves to BTCC, 61-100 Accepts Semi-works WTCC BMW seat
Result: 27, so the Brazilian decides to try something new for 2010
Mehdi Bennani
1-60 Moves to BTCC, 61-100 Stays in WTCC
Result:54; after snubbing CVR's offer last year, the Morrocan moves to the BTCC for 2010, completing Honda's lineup
Colin Turkington
1-50 WSR, 51-80 CVR, 81-100 Special Tuning
Result:85, so Turkington makes a shock move to Special Tuning! As there are no other bidders for him, WSR get 1997 and 2000 champion Menu instead.
Tom Chilton
1-70 WSR, 71-100 888
Result:50, so at least they hold on to Chilton. 888 instead bids for Gordon Shedden.
Gordon Shedden
1-70 CVR, 71-100 888
Result: 66, so CVR narrowly hold onto the Independent's Champion, and 888 bid for race winner Jonathan Adam.
Jonathan Adam
1-50 CVR, 51-100 888
Result: 82, so CVR have to try and nab Norbert Michelisz instead
Tom Coronel
1-60 GR Asia, 61-100 Arena
Result: 65- Coronel moves to a Constructor for 2010, and GR Asia try to nab Michelisz off Maxtreme.
Norbert Michelisz
1-30 Maxtreme, 31-60 GR Asia, 61-100 CVR
Result: 23, Michelisz deciding to stay at the team he knows, considering their similar equipment. GR Asia now has to try to gain the services of double champion Fabrizio Giovanardi, and CVR have to bid again.
Fabrizio Giovanardi
1-60 888, 61-100 GR Asia
Result:35 - the Italian remains loyal to 888, GR Asia will have to bid again.
Nick Foster:
1-40 RML, 41-80 GR Asia, 81-100 Boulevard
Result: 59, so GR Asia hold onto Nick Foster for 2010. RML bids for Jeff Smith, while Boulevard secure the services of Andy Neate
Jeff Smith
1-55 RML, 56-100 Motorbase
Result:39 - RML nab Jeff Smith, and Motorbase bid for Depper
Martin Depper
1-50 Motorbase, 51-100 Eurotech
Result: 77, so Motorbase joins the large crowd circling Tony Gilham and his wads of cash.
Tony Gilham
1-50 Motorbase, 51-75 Boulevard, 76-100 Special Tuning
Result: 14 - Motorbase gets Gilham, while James and Forster take the seats at Boulevard and Special Tuning respectively.
Engines:
All teams who bidded for NGTC engines or LPG have received their first choices
Budgets:
WSR= 131-50-20-45-30= -14CR
Seat= 129-50-60-20= -1CR
CVR= 140-50-30= 60CR (needs #2 driver)
888= 105-40-50-25= -10CR
Arena= 91-30-30-20= 11CR
RML= 83-45-40+15= 13CR

Honda= 60-45-30-20+20= -15CR
Boulevard= 10-30-20+20+20=0CR
AFM= 25-1-15-0=9CR
Special Tuning UK= 70-25-15-30+20= 20CR
WSR, Seat, 888 and Honda are all in debt, and will need to clear this (by running pay drivers for some races) before the end of the season. Also CVR and GR Asia need to bid again, as they did not get any of their bids for one of their seats. After you confirm your choices, the Media Day test will be up shortly.

Turkington/Forster, LPG's, and 20CR in the bank? I don't think that could have gone any better for Special Tuning!

Gene would cost 40CR, as would Montiero- this is well within your budget. Which one of the two would you prefer? (as I can run them through the acceptance RNG now)

OK then:
Jordi Gene
1-50 Moves to BTCC, 51-100 stays in WTCC
Result:32, so the former Seat works driver completes GR Asia's lineup.

CVR will first try to see how much it will cost, and if it is even possible, to poach Yvan Muller from WTCC. If this fails, we'll fall back on Andy Priaulx.

Muller will take a healthy wage (45CR) and some persuasion to return to the BTCC
1-40 Returns to BTCC, 41-100 stays in WTCC
Result: 38- Yvan Muller makes a shock return to the BTCC after five years out of the series!

Re: 2010 Virtual BTCC- RNG Results Up! - 4 teams available
Great. Based on his racing history (Audi BTCC, SEAT & RML WTCC) it seems Yvan always picks #12 where he can, so we will let him have that for his car.

The number's fixed now (I didn't notice the "12 trend" looking at old entry lists, so just gave him the highest number available initially)

Welcome to the series, Bandon23; all of your car/driver bids are acceptable (leaving you with money to spare) , and your team will feature in the series from the pre-season "Media Day" test onwards (and as you chose the Lacetti, I don't even have to make a new livery for you, so thanks for that.
