I think that you've got a point - when Alonso knows that the F10 is so strong, he isn't going to want the rules to chance in a hurry.
It is true that I do agree that we can't instantly order changes - in the past, snap decisions have sometimes done more harm then good for the sport. Also, given that a fast car rarely qualifies out of position these days, all the fast cars will simply drive away from the front, where they started. However, this does mean that the races are likely to be more, not less, processional.
Meanwhile, Alonso's comments have not gone down well in some quarters. I've seen quite a few fans who have said (to paraphrase their comments) that Alonso seemed out of touch with their concerns, and that he was forgetting that the success of the sport depends on a happy fan base.
