Infinite Improbability Drive of the Race - Austria 2024

Post by Londoner »

1. Haas. An excellently executed race plan.

2. The battle for the lead. Yes it ended in tears, but an actual battle for the lead? In Formula 1? I thought that was illegal :pantano:

George Russell: Sure, he was lucky, but that was definitely unexpected!

Honorable mention to Hülkenberg for a great finish!

1) HAAS - genuine double points on merit

2) Alonso - for sniping Verstappen of an undeserved extra point

Agreed - this was a race where it feels like Haas did punch above their weight.

1. Haas. They always seem to do well here and Nico getting 6th was very well deserved. Olly Bearman should look forward to this race next year.

2. George Russell. Kept it clean and out of issues all race and while he did luck into the win, he still was there to Capitalize when Max took himself and Lando out!!!

Haas for a very lucrative day and especially Hulk for holding off Checo.

Looks like this has finally been a really good race. I would give GP-Rejects positive award to the race itself. Is that possible even though the award is called "drive"?

Haas: Austria is their lucky charm circuit isn’t it? 4th and 5th in 2018 and today they repeated the 6th and 8th they got in 2022. Another great day in a pleasantly surprising season

Slept on things and changed my mind.

New nomination for IIDOTR is: the gravel traps at turns 9 and 10.

I expected that drivers would be dipping into them causing the cars to spin like Zhao (I think) did in practice and we would be replacing track limits infringement with safety cars. Totally wrong.

Goes to show that the 1200 infringements in 2023 were a result of the drivers' decisions and not a consequence of the track design. So my new RoTR for Austria 2023 is drivers ignoring track limits :D

Haas is my pick, especially as I expected them to be in the doldrums yesterday.

1) The Haas team, seriously after recent years, they more than deserve a result like that!

2) Oscar Piastri, just one lap longer and he probably would have won!

HM: George Russell for being in the right place at the right time when Max and Lando inevitably collided.
