Infinite Improbability Drive of the Race - Texas 2024

Post by Londoner »

1. Liam Lawson. Somehow made an overcut work and showed the world exactly why Ricciardo had to go.

2. Franco Colapinto. Making Albon look very very mortal with every race.

I cannot disagree with the above, though a big shout out to Ferrari for the race strategy and more importantly fixing Sainz' car.

Colapinto consistently delivers, doesn't he. The only other genuinely impressive driver that was out of the ordinary was George Russell for me. Usually it's him with the unforced errors, but he made the backwards strategy work and did as well as he could with no help from safety cars.

Penalty shenanigans between Max and Lando aside, I think it's quite improbable that they didn't crash into one another, so I think that deserves an honourable mention.

Liam Lawson: Points on return! Well done!

Honorable mention to Colapinto for a similarly impressive drive.

Agree with Lawson first then Colapinto.
It's just unbelievable...that Formula 1 could be such a ridiculous melange of idiots.

Liam Lawson: Showing exactly why he should have been in that car from Race 1 this year. The fact that sites like The Race are STILL rambling on about Daniel Ricciardo who stayed 2 years past his use by date is nauseating. Lawson deserves the full 2025 season.

Franco Colapinto: All of a sudden Alex Albon doesn’t look invincible in that Williams team does he? Colapinto deserves a spot on the grid but sadly circumstances aren’t kind to him

1= Lawson and Colapinto, both put in performances that easily justify their seats for this year, and seats for next year

1) Liam Lawson - from the back to lower end of points while his team mate was average at best

2) Colapinto - great driving and very nearly got a Williams fast lap, sans Ocon doing a Ricciardo

1) The Rookies (Lawson and Colapinto): After several years where, Piastri aside, the standards of the lower formulae seemed questionable, we've got two drivers who have come in and looked decidedly better than their predecessors.

2) Ferrari, especially Charles Leclerc: This wasn't a race where I would have expected a Ferrari win, let alone a 1-2, but they managed a good turn of pace and made a good strategy call.

1. Franco Colapinto - Oh my god there's actually a driver I'm moderately rooting for now, it's been so long I don't know what to make of this.

Lawson easily gets this for me to come straight in and do that. If that doesn't give Checo a kick up the backside, nothing will. Also good on him for getting under the whinging old git's skin too.

HMs to Ferrari, Hulk and Colapinto.
