Infinite Improbability Drive of the Race - China 2025

Post by Londoner »

1. Haas. Seven massive points for that absolute tractor of a car, a strategic masterclass from both Ocon and Bearman.

2. Alex Albon. Third time in a row he's outpaced and outclassed his more fancied team mate.

Oliver Bearman: Got points, spiced up the show with some nice dices, overall impressive.

1. Charles Leclerc - finished well in the points with a broken car
2. Oscar Piastri - managed to get a slight suntan despite being firmly within his teammate's shadow

1. Haas. Ocon and Bearman bounced back from Australia with a double points finish. Ocon had a quiet race and Bearman did some good races.

2. Alex Albon. At one point led the race and getting more points on the board for Williams!!!

1. Haas - I think the car might actually be legitimately quite good judging from their race pace, but it was a great effort from the whole team to maximise the result on a day where it wasn't necessarily obvious that a solid points haul was up for grabs.

=2. Esteban Ocon & Oliver Bearman - Yes, they fall underneath the Haas nomination, but in particular both drivers clearly put in the most outstanding drives today.

Really enjoyed Bearman who seemed to be the most convincing rookie today.

Albon needs to be recognised for looking like he's enjoying himself. Zero pressure, getting results.

I think those are both fair nominations - the team got the strategy right, and their drivers both performed strongly to maximise the performance of the cars to get some very valuable points on the board.

As for Albon, I agree that, given many were claiming before the season that Sainz would "demolish" Albon, Albon is the one who has been banking the points for the team (it's early days, but we haven't seen Williams as high as 5th in the WCC since 2017).

I'm just going to say Albon. Apparently today was the first time in 10 years that Williams have led a race, albeit briefly.

(1) Leclerc being competitive withe the best drivers/cars out there whilst having half a front wing, and beating Lewis - awesome

(2) Haas -where did that come from?

I think Haas are clear winners for the award this week. From being comfortably the slowest car all weekend in Australia to a fine double points finish with one car beating a Mercedes on merit in China

Albon: Williams didn’t think China would suit them but Albon got into Q3 and scored more points while putting his team mate in the shade

Well, it looks like the situation for Haas is going to get better, because with both Ferrari's now being disqualified, that bumps Ocon up to 5th and Bearman up to 8th.

It also looks like a better result for Williams too - Albon is now getting bumped up to 7th, and with Gasly also getting disqualified, that bumps Sainz up into 10th place for an extra point.

Ocon - Its at the expense of the Ferrari DSQs, but P5 is a mega result for Haas, considering where they were in Australia.

Ocon - beating a Merc on merit.

Albon also is showing Sainz the way at the moment which I'll admit I wasn't expecting. Maybe he isn't being flattered by having crap teammates like Latifi and Sargeant after all!
