Reject of the Race - Bahrain 2025

Post by Londoner »

1. Liam Lawson. STATE of your career, mate.

2. Timing issues. Did F1 hire the IndyCar crew from the Thermal fiasco for today's race?

Honourable mention to Aston Martin, it's gonna be a long season for them.

I had to go back pretty far for this, but the actual discoverer of electricity in a method which can be used for actual purposes was Benjamin Franklin.
Technically all of these issues are a direct result of his discovery. Failing that, just "electrics" in general.

1) Aston Martin: A poor showing all round for a team that was one of the best of the rest last year.

2) Gabriel Bortoleto: Yeah, sure, Sauber are not expected to perform, but I haven't seen anything from Bortoleto to really impress me so far.

  1. Race control.
  2. Liam Lawson for his clumsy clashes. His agent's probably ringing WEC or FE teams as I type this.

1. Technology. So many issues in the race. Timing screens and graphics failing, DRS issues and Red Bulls lights also causing problems.

2. Aston Martin. It's official. Jaguar are back!!!

Hm. Liam Lawson. I know the demotion is embarrassing but he didn't help the cause with more errors and looking more likely to be dropped again rather than regaining the red bull seat.

It all started in qualifying when the FIA did not penalise Hulkenberg until 45 minutes after the incident, which stopped Albon from progressing to Q2.

The timing glitches and technical errors: Russell constantly disappearing off the tower was the standout. Then you had the technical issues which messed up 2 Red Bull pitstops. Bit of a shambles for the pinnacle of Motorsport

Liam Lawson: At this rate I won’t be surprised if even RB get rid before the year is over

Aston Martin: 2026 can’t come quick enough for these guys.

I'll go with Aston Martin - 2nd last and 4th last for a supposedly top team!

Actually Lando might be a DHM - messy and giving away crucial impetus to his teammate.

1. Liam Lawson. Completely out of his depth this race. His even more novice teammate out qualified and outscored him, and Tsunoda maximized the performance of the Red Bull.

2. Lando Norris. It seems odd nominating a guy who finished 2nd, but this was a weekend to forget for the championship favourite. Unable to put together strong Q3 lap, he threw away a mammoth start by rolling out of place on the grid. He wasn't able to get the job done on Russell on several occasions, and seemed to settle for 3rd.

While my opinion goes against the prevailing online forum hegemony, I believe Lando Norris can out qualify and out race Oscar Piastri quite convincingly most of the time. This weekend Lando made mistakes unbecoming of a top driver, and ruined his chances to challenge for victory. With all that in mind, Lando did salvage a third out of a somewhat disastrous race.

HM. Timing issues. What in the ever loving bathplug was going on? it wasn't just Russell. Timing seemed to freeze for several laps.

HM 2. My electricity provider. When Lando and Russell were exiting turn 10, my power cut out, and I heard the bang of a transformer blowing shortly afterwards (delay due to speed of sound and distance from my house). The nail biting end to a thrilling race cut short at a crucial moment.

Lando Norris - As noted by others, Norris had a pretty messy race. In my eyes, Norris just seemed very rattled for most of the weekend. That post-quali interview in particular screams of a driver who just isn't in the right head-space. The fact that Norris-choke signs were floating around the discord speaks volumes of his wasted potential. This might age poorly, but Piastri just seems to have taken the step forward.

Liam Lawson - "Our standards were low but..."

All the tech issues - As others have already gone over.
Murray Walker: "A lot of people here are really debating whether Ricardo Rosset is Formula 1 material"
Martin Brundle: "Well, it's a fairly short debate, Murray".
